Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Azani replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
No, that totally makes sense from a storyline/canon perspective. My understanding, however, is that the Han Solo movie sets were unlikely to be released in January, and thus 75537 would be part of that wave, or released in a later wave even further out. My assumptions are based off of the set numbers and the conjecture that Boba Fett and Darth Vader are unlikely to be part of the same wave as the Han Solo sets. As a side note, no problem. :P I shouldn't have assumed that it was a particular moderator. -
Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors

Even as we inch closer and closer to 2018, the question is more along the lines of "Will we see new constraction sets in the second half of the year?" No, as unfortunate as it looks, we probably won't be seeing a new in-house constraction IP from TLG in 2018; if anything, we may see the end of SWC, extrapolating off of the frankly terrible sales of the latest sets. As I've detailed in the past, all of the evidence put forth so far for the developing demise of constraction is anecdotal, and nothing else; that said, if that's all we have at the moment, then we have zero right to say that others can't draw predictions from the so-called "truths" that come from those with industry connections. I would tend toward remaining as realistic as is possible with any variety of predictions until we hear some of the latter. So, this is going to sound really nuts, but can we consider the possibility that Darth Maul is in the Han Solo movie? Does the new canon explicitly say that he died in TPM? Further, @VBBN, do we know that 75535-75537 are also slated for a January release, if that's being inferred? -

Hey, thanks for being diligent, regardless! If that guy really is "ForceGhostSolo", then yeah, he's full of crap. In that same comment to you, he claimed that there were photos of the Darth Maul figure out in the public eye, and that set isn't due out until March at the very least. It would be incredibly unlikely that we'd be seeing photos of said set at this point in time. -

As far as I recall, I've never heard of him. Out of curiosity, is there any way that you could link to the post in question? -

Interesting... I did see a similar set of rumors on 4chan, but if you have a different source, then it's possible that this holds some truth. Mind if I ask who/what your source is? -

I have sent it to @Nokturn It's nothing too special, but it appears to be from a retailer catalog in relatively high quality. -

I will PM it to you. I have, however, already shared it on Instagram. -
In light of the fact that both Disney and TLG are notoriously strict with their street dates for promotional tie-ins of any kind, I would agree that the odds of it being a genuine figure are especially slim. That said, I still suspect that we'd be seeing bootlegs en masse by this point if folks such as those over at Lepin were going to attempt to profit from doing so, as Force Friday II is less than a month away from today. If you're suggesting that they guy made it himself, then I can tell you that I would definitely buy that figure. That would be some serious high-quality craftsmanship.

No problem; it's right over here. I would watch this link for more info on the Falcon; according to the pattern that this retail site uses, we'll see a product description on there at some point. Actually, I believe that the pages for the TLJ sets were public a couple of days ago, so 75192's may have been as well. >:( Will it be before the official reveal or not? No clue.
-
Yup; as a heads-up we're discussing that in the 2018 thread. See ya there!
-
It was pretty much a rhetorical question. The fellow claims that it's authentic, and I believe him 100%, because we'd be seeing 75190 knockoffs otherwise.
-
I know, right? Some guy in Hong Kong has every minifig from 75188, 75189, and 75190 listed for ~30 USD each.
-
Where the heck did this guy (in the US) get this!!?

As a quick question, @Sir von Lego , since you're a pretty reliable source for this sort of thing: are you aware of/able to confirm the set number of the purported Darth Maul buildable figure? Is it safe to assume that it will be 75535? -
So, I went ahead and edited the full-size image from TLG's Twitter feed, and I feel as though the cockpit and a few other details are relatively easy to discern now.
-
Does that series typically cover merchandising tie-ins such as LEGO UCS sets? I'm relatively certain that it does, yes. Is anyone aware of a collection of data that offers comparisons between packaging sizes and part counts for previously released sets?

Star Wars Constraction 2017 Discussion and Rumors

Here is my gallery; I have all the pictures for 75176, 75177, 75179, 75187, 75188-75190, and 75526-75530 indexed and in HD quality. I'm pretty sure that the Praetorian Guard has 6M shells in Mata Red, previously only available in Tahu Uniter. Take a look at the right arm in the first "alternate" image. :P -
If possible, I'd definitely appreciate being able to join. Fantastic.

I know, right? That's the phenomenal thing about creating a MOC index for a forum like this one; it gives you a pass to see back into the creativity of folks who haven't been active in years; heck, sometimes a decade. @VBBN I'd be happy to help out with reviewing a few of the Star Wars constraction sets, if that sort of deal is what you guys are looking for. Honestly, I wouldn't be too surprised if you guys hadn't covered many of the 2017 sets yet with everything that you've been doing, so I could totally review a few and get them in the index. I've been going through the "Reviewer's Academy" over here, so just mention if you want a certain review done.

Unfortunately, yeah. That said, I just discovered that, surprisingly, that piece has been recolored in dark red! I mean, you can do a lot of different things. If you're wanting to create a nice, fleshed-out torso, I'd use shells like these and these, paired with a technic structure and pin add-ons like this, this, and this to convey detailing, with the last one being used to attach minifig-scale weapons and tools. If you want to go a simpler route, this piece paired with any of these parts is pretty likely to work well. Or you can do something like what this set did in 2011 to add to the chest and supply detail at the same time. The Star Wars constraction torso shell is a pretty big, useless piece that was introduced relatively recently and is rarely found unprinted, so I would use it pretty minimally. Hope that helps!

Totally fine either way, but could you see the engines at all from the angle on the box? Further, how large did the front protrusions look as compared to 10179?

Star Wars Constraction 2017 Discussion and Rumors

Not to brag, but I kinda sent them news of all those pictures about 48 hours ago. The design of the Guard is definitely different from Skull Basher and K-2SO. Looking forward to it. -
The images that were leaked show the vehicle's function. If it jumped, then that would be a pretty impressive design. Have we seen a Star Destroyer that opens along the center like 75190 does before? I wonder how strong the segments are.
