Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Azani replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
It's good. If it were a $25 set, it would be the best of the theme in every category; build, colors, parts, and gaps. It's actually a lot better looking on that last point than the box art seems to imply. -

I would recommend buying Chewbacca once he's discounted by a decent amount. It's genuinely an incredible set. -

Ah yeah; it is. I was referring to a YouTube review, but I can go ahead and ask the mods regardless about linking to it. I believe that the system thread has been linking to Just2Good's YouTube reviews of the TLJ sets, as the sets were legally obtained via Toys 'R' Us. (At least that's the logic of the folks over there.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

Indeed. I'll have a review up tonight; hopefully that will be of interest to y'all. The build is very unconventional - definitely not cookie-cutter. -

Chewbacca looks like a solid set, honestly. The build is very intriguing. Here he is. -
This may sound surprising, but I listed "780 pc" as the piece count for the Bomber in my list. Crazy, right?
-
As far as I know, they do not; I've seen a few high-profile YouTubers do it with no apparent consequences. That said, there might not be enough data to really say.

A. That is not the point, nor the purpose of the answer. B. Nope. These are the USD prices that were extrapolated from this article on Promobricks. They weren't certain, but they were realistically as accurate as we could get as per previous trends. I'm pretty certain that Walmart is not reliable enough here. So, the GBP prices were speculative; my apologies for not indicating as much. I didn't simply convert currencies, because that would be dumb, but I extrapolated off of previous trends. The initial post has been edited. And yeah, the TIE Pilot is cheaper. He has no printed parts excepting his head mold, and he's an unrecognizable character who's mostly black. For quite a while, 20 USD was the default price for SWC figures; however, TLG decided to hike it up to 25 in the last year for whatever reason.

As a rule, you can't count on TLG to be consistent with any definitions on this sort of thing; after all, they did a similar thing at the end of Bionicle G2's run, but the fact that it wasn't packaged in one massive box ruled out the possibility that it would, say, be considered a bona fide set. That's the way that it works when the company in queston sells products that are targeted toward kids; you'll see a lot of bizarre contests with crazy inconsistencies. Obviously, it was pretty unlikely either way, but I feel like the opinion of Brickset should settle this one pretty solidly.

"Before he was banned..." Ah well - EB is still up there as one of the only places to go to chat with actual TLG designers. Returning back to the topic, thanks for finding those, @itzik! If I'm reading that right, they appear to actually be for sale. :)

I agree, but I do want to remind y'all that we can make the decision to change the discussion up at any time.
-
Hi! I found all of this info, and the photos about three weeks ago. We have been discussing it on the last ~25 pages. Thanks!
-
They are not switched around, no. Were you guys not able to see the American boxes yet? I found HD images of those (approximately 1000 by 3000 px) a few weeks ago.
-
I may anyways; I've already started. :) Any that you're not doing at the moment?
-
Well, you can probably find out by looking back by five or ten pages in the 2017 discussion thread. :P I did find those images and went ahead with sharing them here a little over two weeks ago, but it's great that you're excited! I definitely am.
-
Alrighty; thank you for the clarification. :) As an extremely new guy in this particular community, I wanted to play it a little safe, as I wasn't sure if all of the existing reviews that I had seen were at a level of quality that was ideal; further, there are many that were made quite some time ago and thus may have been held to a different standard. I have a copy of 75532 that I may be reviewing shortly...
-
Fantastic! Do the sets need to be MISB prior to the review, or am I in the clear to review sets that I have already opened, assuming that I still have the packaging and instructions?
-
We do; it's been discussed, though certainly not as much as the Millenium Falcon. Thanks, regardless!
-
See, I wouldn't necessarily have said it like that, but I totally agree. Further, I definitely stand by his right to say things like that. It's this sort of thing that truly encapsulates how most of us feel. There really isn't this much to discuss, let alone this much that is legitimately newsworthy. I mean, everyone can conduct themselves how they wish, but I do feel as though things have been getting a bit off track in here.
-
See, that makes sense for the die-hard collectors, but I'm sure that it would still sell incredibly well without exclusive figs, which would be unreasonably inflated in price going forward due to their inclusion in that single set.
-
There should be no issues with that, since the final product is practically guaranteed to be incredible beyond imagination. An 7,500 piece set? We can wait. As far as I'm concerned, the real clincher with this set will be what we end up getting on the minifigure side. Ideally, we wouldn't get anything unique, but a nice varied selection of multi-generational figures.

Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Azani replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
So, the simplest explanation is the one that includes Darth Maul as part of a later wave. It's also the one that makes the most logical sense, as the names of the Han Solo figures are almost certainly under some heavy security, while the names of the others are not. Heck, Sir von Lego might know the names of the HSM figures; he knew the set number of Maul this entire time. I would be very surprised if one bizarrely numbered set was released out of order; a couple of sets, or an entire wave, is a very different situation. EDIT: As a heads-up, leaked image that can be found on the "legoleaks" subreddit have confirmed that Darth Maul will be released later, along with the Han Solo sets. @Leewan -
No, you haven't done any of those things. You're just been wrong. How could you possibly interpret anything that I said as agreement with you? I believe that leaks are actively bad for TLG, one hundred percent of the time, and I believe that there is no practical way that they could possibly prevent them. Very simple, actually. I think that this is it, yeah. A little patience is totally alright.
-
I have to disagree, man; as much as I enjoy the concept of leaks and the occasional discovery of a particular one, I have never wavered in my belief that both the immediate retailers and the end consumer are harmed by the existence of leaks, regardless of the stage at which they arrive. After a product has been developed, it's incredibly important for a company to maintain total control over its imagery and design in order to be able to control the marketing, and by extension the image of said product. Leaks are often detrimental as a result of the half-baked opinions that they generate from very preliminary or poorly contextualized images. Further, TLG and other companies in the consumer luxury goods industry are attempting to craft consumer loyalty to as high of a degree as possible, and this requires a very predictable schedule of announcements that can be delayed or hastened based on the product and the amount of "judgement time" that TLG decides is most conducive to purchase for the consumer. Some sets, including most smaller-caliber non-licensed products, require more time to "judge", while others, such as massive rehashes of iconic licensed products, require much less. TLG knows very well that the sort of people buying 75192 will primarily consist of those who would buy it regardless of its flaws, and I'm pretty sure that we all know that on some level as well. As far as the price is concerned, I'd make the case that such a high MSRP is relatively immaterial to most fans; if you have 300 USD to spend on a toy, then you probably can fork over 800. Also: No, they definitely couldn't.
