Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

True, but both sets have their “sold out” notices in red which means permanently sold out. So they’re functionally retired on the US Lego website.

    - The X-Wing looks phenomenal. Definitely the best system scale rendition of this classic craft. I typically only purchase UCS sets but I will purchase this. - Sandcrawer looks a bit horizontally squished proportion wise but still a solid set. Even if I didn’t have the UCS set it would still be a pass, though. - Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter, like pretty much all the Delta-7’s thus far just looks too tall and proportions are off. A cool set to offer but eh to me. - Snoke’s Throne Room is for me is a disappointment. The prospect sounded great and I was anxious to see it, as I could see myself getting it. No thanks. The minifigs are great but, I don’t know it just looks odd and unfinished. I’ll buy cool little “scene” sets (Yoda’s hut, Ahch-To etc) for fun and was hoping this would work out. Bummer it doesn’t for me. Not to mention the price! I’m used to and fine with paying a premium but this is a $50 set max and even then I wouldn’t pay that. - Hoth Medical Chamber is so out of left field to me. I like it and hate it at the same time. If I had Assault on Hoth it would appeal more but no thanks. Solid execution of the scene, though. - Imperial Landing Craft actually made me say “what!?” out loud when I saw it. There wasn’t even a word of that coming out. Looks fine and cool minifigs but the price is killer for the piece count. TL;DR I think Lego did a fine job with selecting/designing most of these sets but regardless they didn’t stand much of a chance for me to be a buyer. That X-Wing though! <3

I, too, am getting antsy about the May 4th UCS reveal. I've seen those postulate TLG is backlogged on UCS MF sets and this spring's UCS getting pushed to the summer. Odd we haven't seen, let alone heard anything about the May 4th exclusive either. Maybe Lego is being super coy and we'll wake up to news this Friday morning, as the May calendar comes out in a handful of days and will give us definitive news. Fingers crossed Lego has just kept things very close to the chest this time around and will drop the Y-Wing on us any day now :)

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors

I'll admit my initial opinion and reaction to the First Order walker shifts slightly to a more positive light seeing the backside of the box. It's definitely a more aesthetic angle than the front of the box. The Star Destroyer kind of shifts more positive as well. Still not interested in the Resistance bomber, though. Physical, in-the-flesh photos of the sets (and the rest to be leaked/released) will be great to see!

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors

Long, long time lurker who finally decided to jump into the conversation. The Last Jedi sets revealed contain the two rumored sets I was most looking forward to (Star Destroyer and the First Order walker) and I find them both quite 'eh'. The Star Destroyer appears to be disappointingly small, which isn't much of a surprise given how the current re-dos of sets (think 75055) have trended that way. The walker looks clunky, boxy, and just unfinished. It doesn't flow nearly as nicely as the AT-AT. The Resistance ship is interesting but doesn't really pique my interest either. All in all it's underwhelming to me. The minifigs are great in both appearances and numbers, though! Anxious to see the sets 'in the flesh' and make a final decision but I'm on the "pass" side of the fence to start.
