LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!

Bit late to this latest party, but add me to the very disappointed list. It is clear that locations in Star Wars are seen by Lego as play rather than display, even at incredibly expensive prices. Be it the Death Star, Insult on Hoth or Betrayal of Cloud City. Thankfully with UCS, the vehicles continue to be aimed at display, but for some reason Lego doesn't think we want display sets of locations. With Harry Potter we do see a display set of the Castle (at microfig size).....my chances of Vader's castle ever becoming a reality are looking more and more remote.

Same for me, someone who came in from the Dark Ages 4 years ago, apart from Slave 1 and UCS MF not feeling like these other UCS are must buys. I like the minifig scale or large ships for display purposes. For the TIE fighter, X-Wing, Y-Wing and Snowspeeder more than happy with the System sets. Plus the amount of stickers on the UCS Snowspeeder seemed very poor to me. I am quite surprised we haven’t got a re-released UCS Star Destroyer. I personally would love a UCS re-released Blockade Runner, Imperial Shuttle or a display Death Star , ala the UCS Death Star 2.

Snoke’s Throne Room (75216) must have some really big pieces with only 492 at that price. .... and only two Praetorian guards.

The lack of UCS MF sets to sell at peak hype wouldn’t have helped ....

Thanks for this, and to a comment said earlier 2 UCS sets to add to this (please one of them be a Star Destroyer or Tantive IV) So unless we get a small wave near December (for Christmas spend) looks like no Rebels sets for its final season.... .....and hopefully 2018 will see 75192 in stock :) I can only hope.... they released the Ghost way too early in the life of the show, if it had been released a season later would have got much higher sales ...... I am still holding out feint hope for a Ghost re-release, updated version

Was hoping for about 4 Praetorian guards, but 2 it is. Still nothing about any Rebels related sets, apologies if I have missed it ?

Excited for that X-Wing. Like others, hoping that one of those confidential ones is Snoke's Throne Room Would also love to see one of them being related to the final season of Rebels, i.e. a new Ghost

75200 Ahch-To Island Training set - Had high hopes for this one and honestly a little disappointed, quite underwhelming. Re the Luke minifig something doesn’t seem right with him, hopefully he will feature in another set and be done better. 75202 Defense of Crait - Was just hoping for the ski speeder by itself, this will be a wait until heavily discounted set for me. The set we haven’t see yet has Phasma, but disappointed that none of the TLJ sets so far have Leia or the Praetorian Guards. On to more positive stuff I am rarely interested in Buildable Figures, I just have the Darth Vader one. But these two look very impressive especially the improved Vader.

Well good luck if you ever go into busy, you will need it. For a company that has reported lower sales and is making a significant number of employees redundant, the much needed sales that they are missing out for this and the Saturn V are very significant. Yes the majority of obsessed Lego fans that really really want this set will wait and buy it eventually. But for the more casual Lego fan, in the case Star Wars fans who are not as obsessed as us, with the money "burning in their pocket" they will spend it on something else (i.e. a Sideshow collectible) Across a lot of social media I am surprised with how people are talking about buying the Lepin version of this. There is certainly a balance of hype, not having oversupply or having undersupply but with this set and the Saturn V Lego has not got that balance. We have seen with Lego's financial results that not everything is going according to plan, hopefully they can learn some lessons.

I think for almost any other company it would be a massive PR disaster. But as far as Brand loyalty is Lego's is incredibly strong. I would say that it is too strong, and thus they are less likely to learn valuable lessons that other companies have to. I have seen some people defending Lego as if Lego was some amateur organisation running a bake sale. Between this and the beautiful Saturn V, operationally (distribution and stock prep) Lego has had a very poor year. It is a shame. It is certainly one of the challenges with providing feedback of different aspects related to a company. ie we would want the ratings of sets to be based on design and pricing v distribution approach, but the challenge is how do you effectively and publically provide feedback related to very poor operational issues and the website.

That doesn't include sales tax does it? But still including sales tax it still looks cheaper. The Canadian dollar and Aussie dollar are roughly the same vale, its 1,300 (including tax) in Australia. ....I don't need a business trip to the UK I need one to Canada.

Seeing the MF on the Lego site (Australian region) for $1,300, as much as I was warned about it before still so shocking to see. Though I know there will be other nations with even worse (relative to U.K. and US plus tax) pricing. ..... need a business trip to the UK

Placed my order for Kylo TIE and First Order SD, besides triple VIP, get a poster (yay), and Heavy Walker poly. Would have preferred the Scarif Stormtrooper over the Heavy Walker poly.
