Change povray default light positions in Stud.io?
Trekkie99 posted a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Is there anywhere accessible that Stud.io stores light positions settings for povray? I've taken to exporting povray files and then editing in my own settings, and was wondering if there was a way to replace some of the default light settings (front, back, right front with sub light, etc.) with my custom ones. -
Love the ambulance! Also awesome to see some more five wide cars. It's such a great size.

I agree, but the sets are to blame probably. Unless one is predominantly making their own mocs (which can be more expensive and not as enjoyable for some) cohesion may be lost. I think some people complained about the modular 50's diner because of this lack of cohesion, and worried about the future of the modular building theme.

Interesting. Not strictly open source as to prevent commercial use. I'm surprised there's enough of a market for instructions for custom models that could be either reverse engineered and/or are to expensive to warrant piracy. As for physical Chinese knockoff sets... They don't have to give a crap possibly.

Wear a trenchcoat, shades, and fedora as well. The works. XD

Makes me wonder what the general consensus about stickers is for different markets.

Ew. Maybe it's because it's limited edition but they make NEW MOLDS for all kinds of other stuff.

Galaxy Explorer (10497) - How well did it sell?
Trekkie99 replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I've seen it at local Walmarts here in Illinois so it might be safe to say there's no shortage on this side of the pond. Side note I've never before seen a set so awesome I wanted to buy and keep sealed.- 52 replies

Bricksafe is a pretty great place to host Lego images and files. Can you export the model as a ldr file from LDD? Stud.io has a pretty good instruction generator which a ldr file can be imported into. I'd be glad to do it for you.

Sick. Love the sort of insect like design. Are there any minifig heads in the six bulbs? (I forget what they're called lol) It could add a little extra touch of detail if done in the right color.
-
I bet you could reverse engineer the model.
-
Point being the idea you can't have women Knights is silly lol.
-
Yes. Definitely this :-)

I put some giant blasters in a Mom minidoll's hands yesterday and imagined her being badass heeheehee.

XD The Monty Python bit from the Holy Grail with the guy talking about what kind of government they have is coming to mind.

Nice work with the letters. A extra stud or two would go a long way for the proportions. Kinda got a chibi look rn.

This was probably the issue at its core.

Change povray default light positions in Stud.io?

Edit I'm trying LDView right now and it might be exactly what I was looking for! -
Change povray default light positions in Stud.io?

Okay thanks! I figured it'd be something like this after not immediately finding anything in Studio's data files. Heehee yes I've been experimenting trying to get a cleaner/less photorealistic look for wip photos, that can better showcase design choices/complexities. I tried turning off shadows to better see parts in nooks and crannies, but the rendered translucent parts looked horrible (they never look amazing though lol). Ideally I wish I could just take higher quality screenshots from the 3d viewer for this purpose. Would you have any suggestions? Maybe LDView? -
My immediate thought for the hands is sticking them in pneumatic hose, and then inserting that assembly in a understud hole or maybe cramming it into a 318 clip. You might be able to stick hand pins in the leg pin hole. Will have to test. Arms, no idea lol. Search around for particularly greebly mocs like speeders for ideas. You see people use body parts on those models a lot lmao I can't believe I just wrote that XD Edit Actually I just remembered. YES you can insert hand pins into leg pin holes. I know because I did it in the past for a speeder moc lol.
