  1. (This is the first time I'm posting a model, so I'm sorry if I got the wrong section). This is my first serious MOC built in LDD, a minifig scale nuclear submarine: I built this model purely for LDD, so the model is built very unlogiocal and would fall apart if built IRL, lol. This will be different with my next models. I also made the interior with a few minifigs, but it's still more for the sake of being there, rather than to be very realistic and detailed. If you want to see the interior you can download the lxf file HERE and take the model apart for yourself :) Any comments are welcome, but don't be too harsh, im still a learner ;)
  2. Since I was a kid, I've always wanted military vehicls in LEGO, like tanks battleships, fighter jets etc, and always wondered why LEGO never released such models. Somewhere last year, I've read that LEGO will never release war themed sets, because of an anti-war policy. Now I can understand and respect such a decision, but when I thought about it, I think it's a little bit hypocrite. There are tons of medieval sets and even viking sets; the "warfare" in that era was very violent and nasty too, maybe even more than modern (mechanized) warfare. I just don't see how swords are less violent than guns. What are your opinions about this?

    LDD 4.2.5 is out

Thanks for the posts :) I'll try to experiment a little ;)

    LDD 4.2.5 is out

Was hoping there was a way to connect them :( I'm hoping that in a future update it will be possible, otherwise I don't see much use in that part...

    LDD 4.2.5 is out

Can anyone tell me he how to use part(s) 3711?
  6. I know, but that's not the point. I'm nt saying TLG SHOULD release military sets, I just thought it was a "little bit" hypocrite. However, like I said in a earlier post, I thought it was because of the violence. Back then I didn't know there was a much deeper meaning. I also read the threads FAllenangel posted, and it is clear to me the opinions are more different than I expected. And that's what I wanted to know ;) This thread can be closed IMO
  7. Vikings, pirates and knights aren't really fantasy... Except for dragons, wizards etc offcourse. Besides, I'm not talking about real-world models of vehicles, nor real-life wars.

    LDD 4.2.5 is out

I may be missing something, but... what's the use of part 3711 since you can't attach 'em to a sprocket?
  9. Well, I didn't really ask a question, I was more curious if people would agree about the hypocrisy. However, I thought the policy was purely because of the violence of war. I didn't know there was a much deeper reason behind it (as described in numerous post in this thread, including yours). And yes, I could build my own millitary models, and I already do (or at least try to, lol) in LDD ;) But that wasn't my point. Well offcourse it would be a bad idea to use real-world factions, I agree to that, but they wouldn't even need to. They wouldn't even need to make two or more different factions. Or they could include things like tanks and jets in themes like aLien Conquest (I know there is a jet included in one of the AC sets, but I'm talking about more realistic designs).
  10. I still can't really agree with that. Just like TLOR FETT posted, some kids could have lost their parents because of a revolver or rifle. Or they could've lost their parents because they were shot by a robber for example... I've used the search function with the words "war policy" and only got a bunch of posts containing the word "policy". But thanks, I'll take a look at them later today.
  11. Wow, how did you manage to do that? :o
  12. Here you go LINK :) One is for the front (just flip it over for the right side) and the other one is for the rear. Enjoy!
  13. I'm building the Gunship in LDD atm too! I found a decent sollution to the ball turrets, if you're interested I could upload it.
  14. This is a light recon tank I just made within 30 minutes: No tracks included, for obvious reasons. LXF File
  15. This is a destroyer based on the Polish WW2 destroyers "ORP Blyskawica" and "ORP Grom". At first I wanted to make it minifig scale, but it would be way too big (maybe some day... ;) ), so I decided to build it in system scale. Foreward cannons Bridge, with radar and AA guns Funnel and searchlight Twin bofors AA gun and torpedo tubes Rear cannons and AA guns Depth charges LXF File Actually it should have 2 twin bofors, 2 sets of torpedo tubes and 2 rear turrets. But I could'n fit it all, and I didn't want to make the ship longer, because it would get way too long compared to the width.

Thanks for the compliments everyone :)

    LDD MOC: WW2 style destroyer

Thanks! I would love that too, unfortunately, it's not going to happen :(
  18. The typical LEGO sets are smaller than the real thing, when you compare them next to a minifigure. Still they fit minifigures. I don't know if it's clear this way, so I'll give an example. A LEGO City truck fits 1 minifigure in the cabin, while a real truck would fit 2, maybe even 3 persons. Is it then still called minifig scale?

    MOC: Nuclear Submarine (minifig scale)

I actually did make the interior, but you'll have to take the sub apart in LDD to see it ;)

    Question about minifig scale

Well, actually I started building a minifig scale destroyer like the one in the second picture, but I think I need more experience with designing before I can get the results I want. Therefore I started building the "system scale" one. All in LDD though. I do like building large models, but I do think it's a good practice for me to also build models in a smaller scale :) I actually did some calculations like these too, but with the metric system. I don't remember exactly, but I think 5 bricks high, or 6 knobs wide was 2 meters.

    Question about minifig scale

Well, I don't really care about complaints since I build ships that are based on real life ships, and not exactly the same ;) But one thing is sure, I won't be calling my current ship minifig scale, hehe.

    Question about minifig scale

The reason I asked the question is I'm working on a WWII Destroyer in LDD, and although it isn't "minifig scale" als with the UCS FAlcon mentioned earlier, it will (hopefully) fit some minifigs at the bridge ie. And I was just curious if I could call it "minifig scale" or not. Maybe I should have told in the OP that it's about a naval model, instead of mentioning the trucks. Although my question WAS meant for LEGO models in general.

    Question about minifig scale

Hmm, never looked at it that way. Sounds logical, though. But to formulate my question a bit simpeler: Would it be correct to call this model "minifig scale"?

    It has 4765 bricks :)

Unfortunately I don't have the bricks (or the money for that matter :p ) for it.
