LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Clanure replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Can anyone tell me what the color for series 5 was? I'm trying to match it to a brick color for a moc I'm working on. There are a few different blues and I'm trying to get the closest match. Thanks! -
I could be wrong, but most of these are probably MOC's in and of themselves. That is, they took the arms, hands, legs, torso, and head all from different MF's to create the monochrome version. Clanure

I got mine today. Weird thing is, my first trip to a lego brand store was just 2 weeks ago. The closest store to me is a 10 hour drive away. I have spent plenty online though, so it's nice to see some love come my way. Couldn't see all my transactions, but I spent roughly $2,000 - $2,500 last year.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Clanure replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Man, those sure are some stinkers. Decent (not great) minifigs, but I actually am not seeing a lot of variety here. I also don't really see these standing out on store shelves either. I guess it's going to save my wallet a bit. I'll pick them up I'm sure, but I won't be rushing to the aisle to get them. -
I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. While a brick built Rancor could have the potential to look really cool or also have the potential to be sturdy enough to play with, I don't think it could do both and still be a cost effective solution. Lego is looking for play value, what with the target market being kids (something we tend to forget around here). I don't see how they could accomplish all their goals (cheap, sturdy, mostly accurate) using a brick built Rancor. Clanure

Wow, excellent moc. All in all, how many pieces would you say are involved? There's a ton to look at. Very impressive! Clanure
-
To me the mini and micro stuff seems far more challenging than minifig or larger scale. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of them and wouldn't normally buy them, but I give huge amounts of credit to moc builders who pull off this scale. They are far more talented than I.

That's really why I want one. I have TRUs, Wal-Marts, and Targets but I can only get regular retail stuff there. I really want a Lego Store for the PAB wall and to get the exclusives without having to pay shipping every time. Hopefully someday... Clanure

Exactly! Where else can you go and have 7 children not be that unusual? Seriously though, that's probably the reason right there. Not enough expendable income to spend on Lego when you are trying to feed 7 kids. Still I would dearly love having one closer, although my wallet probably wouldn't... Clanure

Closest one to me is over an 8 hour drive. Why no love for Utah? Salt Lake City is certainly a big enough area to warrant one, especially seeing as how they just opened up the City Creek Center which is a huge mall development that has brought a ton of high-end stores to town. I would love it if they had some sort of a 'franchise' system because I would seriously be interested in opening up one on my own. Clanure

Well after all that, I got 2 padded envelopes today from TLG each with a TC-14 in it. I'm one happy camper now. Still find it really strange that I ordered the SSD literally 2 hours into the promo and they had to send my TC-14 separate, especially when people here are reporting getting their TC-14 in the same box as their SSD. Clanure
-
I ordered the SSD at 2AM Central Time (as soon as I got home from midnight Avengers showing) on the 4th and got the TC14 on the invoice. Got the shipping email the next day. No other communication. Package arrived yesterday and no TC-14. The invoice in the box had the R2D2 poster and SSD on it with a note saying "Additional items are shipping separately". Not sure what to make of that? Placed another order mid-day on the 5th and got the TC-14 on the invoice. Received the shipping email the next day and then quite a few hours later got a 'backordered' email for TC-14. Box arrived today with no TC-14 and a note on the invoice saying "TC-14 Excl. MF is on backorder". I guess I'll wait to see how angry to be about spending over $500 and not having a TC-14 to show for it. Clanure

I can confirm this. I just opened my Batwing and Batmobile sets, which I purchased last week and I got one 'old' version and one new of the cowl. If they weren't side by side you wouldn't think they were different, but together you can definitely see the difference. Clanure

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Clanure replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Picked up 19 random at local Target. Thought for sure they were going to be picked over. Was pleasantly surprised to get 3 centurions, 2 aliens, 2 highlanders, and 2 Minotaurs. Rounded it out with 2 skater girls, 2 mechanics, 2 butchers, 2 leprechauns, a flamenco dancer and a lady spacer. Have one complete set now, working on number 2. Skater girl and leprechaun are the losers of the bunch, imho. -
There's one just like it (sans flag) at the TRU in Layton, UT. I'm pretty sure they are 2 separate models because the one in Layton has been there for years.

For those of you who do not live near a LEGO brand store, where do you buy your sealed boxes? I would love to just buy a box and be done with it but don't have a source (besides bricklink, of course). TIA -
But Anakin's Eta-2 that's being released is green(prelim pics already out). Can't imagine they would release 2 green Eta-2 in 2 consecutive waves to sit on the shelves simultaneously? Clanure
-
Seems to me this wave is all about the fig, with some afterthought bricks thrown in. Really unimpressed with the actual builds. If all I wanted were action figures I could do better with Hasbro.

Only one right now, the QAR. I'll add the Imperial Flagship in a couple of weeks and get the BP whenever it comes out. Still haven't decided if I'm going to pursue any past vessels, but will probably get everything the future holds. Clanure
-
While I do enjoy the look and idea behind this line, I can't get over the price. As such, I don't own any and haven't built any. I believe the Robie house might be the first I get, assuming the price/piece ratio is acceptable (if memory serves, it is). Clanure

Hello, My Wife has been gracious enough to agree to accompany me on a small vacation to Denver to check out the closest LEGO store (about 8 hours away) in a couple of weeks, and I was wondering what to expect? I've never been to a LEGO store and am really looking forward to it. I don't want to let my imagination get the better of me so can anyone tell me about hours, stock, anything at all with relation to the store in Denver? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Clanure

I apparently live in a LEGO vortex anyway. I'm actually really surprised Salt Lake City, UT doesn't have a LEGO store. As it stands now my shopping list looks like this: Unimog Maersk Train Maersk Ship Shuttle Expedition Diagon Alley Winter Village Bakery Emerald Night Tower Bridge Imperial Flagship Medieval Market Village Excavator I'll get a few PAB from each store too I think. I'll probably get the SSD if it's in stock (cutting the timeline close, I know), though it will take some heavy negotiations with the better half. Then I'll pick up whatever else I can until funds run out. That should catch me up on all the exclusives I'm interested in. Unless I'm lucky enough to see the Winter Village Post Office or the VW Bus. Thanks Again, Clanure
-
Thanks for the suggestion. I do plan on going to both and seeing as how I've got from 10:00AM to 9:00PM, I'll try and do at least 1 PAB from each, just for fun. Anything else I should know? Any AFOL etiquette I should remember (I'm usually pretty good at this, but would hate to transgress unintentionally).
-
Wow, I didn't realize there were 2. Is one better than the other? I've got all Saturday to check them out, so I think I'll try to hit both just for fun. I would assume because they are LEGO stores they should have everything available, right? I've got quite a shopping list, but I'm pretty flexible if things aren't in stock. Thanks!

Making a living off trading Lego
Clanure replied to wokajablocka's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
A quote I once heard regarding comic shops I think applies here: "There's only one way to make a small fortune selling LEGO... ...Start with a large fortune." Clanure
