  1. Hi OzBen Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I'll let the guys have a try using my eBay decal set and see what they come back with. Thanks again. Grum
  2. Hello Everyone I hope you are all well and that you had a GREAT Christmas. Sorry I've been so long bringing this update on the Williams F1 stickers but the vinyl graphics guys doing it have been flat out in the run up to and over the Christmas period. I've now though received the proofs back from them and have to admit that I'm quite impressed. These are basically the 'proof of concept' set to show that they can do them. I received a huge A1 sized sheet with one giant sized set all 'cut' & ready to peel off which I suppose is to show they could do it and one set that are approximately the right size that are not 'cut'. Probably to stop me using them and then never hearing from me again! I have now though a couple of questions that I hope one of you kind folks might be able to help me with. 1. What is the official Lego name for the colour of the blue pieces used in this set? 2. Is the colour blue used for the original Lego sticker set the same blue as the blue pieces of the car? 3. If the answer to no.2 is yes then can anyone tell me the CMYK/RGB/PANTONE colour code for this blue? If no does anyone know the CMYK/RGB/PANTONE codes for the blue used on the stickers? 4. Has anyone bought a set of the decals being sold on eBay and if so are they the correct size and are the colours accurate? I only as these questions as the set of 'stickers' I bought for my car (though never applied) were actually decals from eBay and the copy I sent the vinyl guys was a hi resolution one downloaded from the internet. In both cases I don't know how faithful they are to the original (I thought they looked a little pale but that might just be me), obviously I want the final print to be as close as possible both in size and colour to the original and if the decals are accurate the guys can use my sheet to get the correct size & colour. Once I have the final copy I think it'd be a good idea if someone out there with an original set could check them for me. If anyone lucky enough to have a genuine unused set would be interested in this please contact me. I hope this makes sense. I would like to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR. May it be a year of good health, laughter and love.
  3. Yes, you're right to point that out. Putting it in doesn't exactly inspire confidence it those with the same problem I was having who might be interested in trying it. I only included it to make clear that I'm no expert in these things & didn't want to come across as if I was. Thanks again, I appreciate you taking the time to write.
  4. Hi Guys If like me you're using a laptop with an older display adapter (in my case an ATI Radeon HD 3400) and are having problems with LDD displaying correctly after installing Windows 8 try this: 1) Go into Control Panel 2) Click Device Manager 3) Click the arrow next to Display Adapters to populate the list 4) Right Click on your display adapter 5) Click Update Driver Software 6) Click Browse my computer for driver software 7) Click let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer You should now see a list of drivers 8) Click the one you believe to be the oldest and install it. 9) Close all open windows and start LDD. Hopefully all will be OK. While this worked for me (more through luck than judgement!) I can't promise it'll work for you but if you do choose to follow this you do so entirely at your own risk. Hope this helps someone. Happy Christmas to you All Grum64
  5. What a great idea, very different form those entries I've seen posted Great stuff & fantastic use of the 9398. My favourite entry so far. The very best of luck.
  6. Great idea. Look forward to seeing the final builds. Good Luck.
  7. Good Evening Everyone Hope all's well with everyone. I think this entry is great! I had an idea similar to this but haven't been able to get any further than starting the build on LDD due to a prolonged spell off Ill health. My idea was to recreate part of the old Fiat Strada TV ad, one I always found very memorable. I was thinking of the last part of the ad with the body shell being sprayed by the robot sprayer. That'd be be 2 of the required 3 parts. For the 3rd I was thinking of the guided 'platform' the car sits on as it progresses through the assembly hall. Just in case you're not familiar with the ad or just want to refresh your memory you can view it here: I can see from Omikrons entry that it would've been a workable idea so that makes me feel better about not getting mine done. Good Luck to all who enter.
  8. Hello Everyone As many of you will know I had this problem and have been trying to get it addressed by having a local vehicle graphics company make up a set. Progress hasn't been as quick as I, and no doubt many of you, would've have liked mainly due to the company's workload but also colour and size matching. Also, the guy who's working on this is something of a perfectionist and as he's doing it in his spare time it's taking a while. Personally I think the results so far have been quite promising but I've not got an original set of stickers to compare the colour/size with. When I get his next set for approval I could send a couple out to those with an original set to see what you think. Thank you for your patience.
  9. What a great topic for a competition. I have a seed of an idea forming but whether when it grows it turns out to be a rose or a weed I'll have to see. Any way, I'd like to wish all taking part the very best of luck.

  11. OMG! I've just seen the pics of Blackbirds collection. Oh how I'd love to own a collection like that. Oh how I'd hate to dust a collection like that!
  12. WARNING IF YOU SEE AN ADVERT FOR LEGO LOCATED IN BELFAST BE VERY CAUTIOUS. I REPLIED TO AN ADVERT FOR A LEGO WILLIAMS F1 SET BUT AFTER SENDING £60 VIA PAYPAL I'VE YET TO RECEIVE ANYTHING. AFTER EXCHANGING MANY EMAILS ALL OF WHICH WERE VERY COUTEOUS BUT WITH VARIOUS EXCUSES AS TO WHY HE'D NOT ARRANGED DELIVERY OF THE SET IT OCCURED TO ME THAT THE GUY HAD NO INTENTION OF SENDING ANYTHING. HIS NAME IS removed AND THE EMAIL ADDRESS HE USED IS removed@hotmail.co.uk I HAVE HIS MOBILE NUMBER SOMEWHERE AND WILL ADD IT WHEN I FIND IT.

    Astounding! Simply Astounding!
  14. I know a couple of people that have flat packed their boxes and do understand why they do it. Personally speaking, although I'm getting really pushed for storage space, I wouldn't do it. I'd worry whether the box would go back together satisfactorily or not.
  15. I'm glad to say that my second parcel from Lego arrived this afternoon. I'll control my celebratory exubarations for now as I know many of you are still waiting (impatiently and understandably so!) for yours to arrive. Speaking as I am about parcels arriving, who ever came up with the idea of sending out the Mini Mech separately to the Crawler needs a kick up the proverbial! The expense must have been enormous especially with the unnecessarily large size of the box the Mini Mech arrived in. If the two items had to be sent separately (I can't think that any of you good people would have been annoyed at having to wait for them to arrive together!) why not send the Mini Mech in a padded envelope? I've not opened today's arrival yet nor will I be building it for quite some time as I've just started my 8458 Silver Champion which when finished will complete my Technic F1 trio. I don't know what will be harder, building the Silver Champion or resisting the urge to put the whole lot back in the box and start the Crawler!
  16. Just had notification from Lego that my 41999 has been shipped. Yippieeeee!

  19. Noticed it on the UK Lego s@h at 00:01. Just ordered mine & now I guess I must anxiously wait to see if I've been lucky or if I get an email telling me that I wasn't quick enough.
  20. Hi Guys Thank you to everyone who kindly took the time to help. Much appreciated.
