Welcome to what is easily the friendliest site on the 'net.
  2. Superb. My parents owned one of these when I was a kid and I loved it.
  3. Thank you for the information. I ordered the MacBook Pro earlier today & collect it tomorrow. I'm looking forward what to seeing what makes Apple devotees so passionate about their devices. I hope I'll soon be sharing that passion.
  4. Good looking truck helped by the great use of the panels. Look forward to seeing it in action.

    Really cool birthday present

What a lovely present, creative and very thoughtful. I turned 50 in March. Like Artanis I also received homemade Lego themed treats. My Sister-in-Law made me this: Although there's no wheelchair, everyone says he's very like me. Personally, I think he's much better looking!! My Daughter-in-Law with help from Jake 6 & George 3, our wonderful Grandsons, made me this: So she didn't miss out, dear Jake & George (with a little bit of help from Mummy!) made this very special cake for my darling Wife who has several major food allergies: And thanks to my beautiful Wife I'm off to Legoland soon. Yippee! Thanks to my nearest & very dearest, I had a fantastic day. I'm a very, very lucky man.

[LDD Contest] My Dream Home - Modern House

    Winner!
  11. Thanks for the link Weavel, very interesting but as I'm in the UK I'd rather buy from a UK retailer. I've now decided on a MacBook Pro, specifically the 13-inch with Retina display with the following spec: 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 8GB 1600MHz memory 512GB PCIe-based SSD Intel Iris Graphics It has a claimed battery life of 9 hours but even at half that I'd be happy. The only concern I have is the graphics. The Lego say in the minimum specs for LDD running on OSX it needs NVIDIA GeForce 5200/ATI Radeon 7500 or better with 1GB RAM. Any ideas how this works out on the MacBook Pro? Can I respectfully request that Apple vs Windows comments are kept constructive please otherwise this is going to get 'off topic' very quickly. Thank you.

    14 Gun Brig: Pinnacle

    Simply Magnificent!
  13. Thank you for your very kind words. I mostly build Technic sets but have built the 6085, 6086, 7946 and 10176 Castles and the 6276 Eldorado Fort as well as a couple of Pirate ships for my 2 young Grandsons. All these sets and most of my Technics have been purchased secondhand and have all been cleaned by soaking in the Milton fluid with no harm caused to paints or applied stickers.
  14. I find a weak solution of Milton fluid is the best thing to soak pieces in if I need them sterilising. I've needed to do this on many occasions as the sets I buy are mainly secondhand & being disabled and having to build by mouth I need the pieces to be clean. I've not lost any paint or stickers from any pieces yet. I hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your most informative and quick reply. I'll certainly pass on your advice to whoever paints the parts for me and will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

    Sikorsky MH-53J Pave Low III

Living near Mildenhall & Lakenheath USAF bases I very often see these flying around. I think this is fantastic, very realistic and instantly recognisable. In my very humble opinion Lego should look into producing this!

Good Evening I think you've done a great job, it looks really good. As you've done this so well I wonder if you'd mind helping me. The MOC I'm building uses virtually all Dark Red pieces but I've found that out of all of the pieces I need just one isn't available in that colour so I need it painting. As I've no experience of painting Lego & as you've done such a good job on this I'd appreciate any help/advise you can give. Thank you.

    Cafe Corner Interior

Hi Everyone Sometime ago my Wife added the Cafe Corner to her collection of Modulars. Thinking the insides needed furnishing I took to LDD and came up with these. I'd very much welcome any constructive criticism.

    Cafe Corner Interior

Thank you for pointing that out. I think that as I 'built' these from the 'footprint' of each floor I didn't notice it. I'll try to sort it and any other oversights out when I get round to inserting the interiors into the building. Thanks again.

    Cafe Corner Interior

Thank you all for taking the time you write such kind comments. In answer to your questions: The table tops in the cafe are indeed made up of 2, 1x3 tiles. I've done the interior for my Wife's Grand Emporium and If I can find them (I'm not very organised, my files are stored on USB sticks, external HDD's, online & on the my poor ageing laptop!) I'll post them here. When I get chance I'll 'build' the Cafe Corner and the Grand Emporium and insert the interiors. I'll also post the pics here when done. Thanks again.

    Cafe Corner Interior

Thank you for your very kind words. As I built these not into a fully built LDD Cafe Corner but from just laying out the external/internal walls etc., with 1x plates on the base plates so there's every likelihood I might have placed a wall a stud or so out! To be honest, I didn't check after building the under stair area to see if the stud count was correct. I've not built much studded stuff using LDD as my first love (Lego!) is Technic so I'm sorry if any mistakes have caused any confusion etc. When I get chance I'll double check. I also did some interiors for my Wife's Grand Emporium so after also checking them I'll post the pics if there's any interest. Thanks again for your very kind comments.
  22. Evenin' Everyone I have to agree that this is now heading 'off topic' so I'll say a huge thank you to all who took the time to write with views on my question and bring the topic to a close. The information you've been kind enough to provide has been of great help, if at times waaaay over my head! ;-), and has helped me make my decision. If it's not too much of an indulgence, I'll let you know what I get & how it performs when I've had it a few weeks. Thanks again.
  23. The screen on the Utopia Sabre is a 13.3" IPS Full HD 1920 x 1080. I think I'll be going for this one with the Core i7 2.40GHz CPU & 16GB RAM. It seems to be the best in terms of portability/power/price.
