This is possibly my favourite of all of the towers - the detailing on it is superb, such as the indented windows, the round bricks on the corners, the turrets, the tiles and the variation in grey. The snow is great, and the steps are excellent...the muddy path works well as a contrast. Great great work.

I got my Imperial Flagship today, and the second Holiday set.

This is a brilliant curved wooden tower - the technique you've used is very effective. I really like the covering of ice on the river, but the best bit is the foliage on the trees, which is really clever.

MOC - The Mightiest Tower in Mitgardia
Trent replied to On Stranger Tides's topic in Guilds of Historica
I love the brickwork - the different colours really add to the building...and the size is really impressive - the sheer scale of the tower makes it feel really imposing. However, the real genius touch on this tower is the + shaped "windows" - absolutely wonderful. -
I really like the wooden top to the stone tower, but as some of the others have said, it's the patchy snow that really takes this build to another level. Fantastic work.

I've just seen this on the blog. I really like the water technique - it's not perfect, but it's novel and adds something different. I think it works better in the side on view than over the top, but if you mix the 1x2 plates with some others, it might be fantastic. The walkway around the cabin is really excellent; I love that - and I really like the foliage on the island. Great work.

The extra photographs showing the replacement of the cannon was inspired - fantastic! I really liked the groundwork in this MOC, which was simple but worked well. The defence system of the walls on hinges is a novel idea, and I like the bricks you've used to build the tower with as well.

I love the lava (and I did the same with a PAB wall, so I can always do my own scene in the future - nice to know that it looks good!). I also really like the hooded skeleton hanging from the tree in the snow section.

This is fantastic; the tower is imposing and the use of the prisoners inspired, really adding to the scene. I love the detail of the animals drinking water, and the sign is a nice touch. The tower is nicely decorated with the stained glass, the bat and the spears. Great work.

I really like the colours used, and the loose plank on the roof adds character to the build. Both the staircase and the steps are nicely done, and I love how you've added atmosphere to the scene with the rough waves of the sea.

The bridge is fantastic.

I am interested in this, but the thing that's been putting me off joining is that most (if not all) of the sets that I own have already been reviewed on the site. Does this matter? Is it useful to Eurobricks to have multiple reviews of one set, or would my time be better spent making some MOCs instead?

This is wonderful; I particularly love the water!

This looks super, and goes really well between the two red modulars.

Sorry for bumping - I've only just seen this in your signature! I think this is a great little MOC, especially for a first effort. I really like the gallery inside the tavern, and the benches (although a common technique) look really nice and fit in well. I like the combination of stone and wood in the build, and even though it's obviously inspired by MMV, you've put your own slant on it. I like the touch of the pirates playing cards (and the monkey stealing some!), and the soldiers looking at the drunk destitute pirate slumped outside with an empty bottle! The exposed beams and the crossed swords on the wall are a nice touch too.

Awesome! It looks great, and it's a brill idea.

This is an excellent MOC. I love the weeds growing, and the pools of blood on the floor. The slack power/telephone lines really add to the atmosphere and the planks nailed over the windows are great. The stone/tile detailing by the door really works as well. Brilliant work!

This is wonderful! My first MOC was meant to be a Town Hall but I've paused with that idea since hearing the next modular is due to be one. However, if mine had turned out like this, I'd be really happy! I think the square is a good idea and really draws the buildings together. The balcony is a lovely touch, and I like the red carpets and wedding scene. The Fire Brigade-esque detailing works really well on the brickwork and it fits in excellently with your other buildings. The skateboarders made me laugh - we have a square in my town and it's filled with teenagers going up and down the handrails!

They do sell Lego now - they started about 3 months ago. They also sell various clone brands, including their own click and play stuff, which looks terrible...but they have a decent selection of the real deal (mostly smaller sets). However, the prices aren't all that, so I'm yet to buy from them. Their stores tend to have 2 or 3 cardboard stands with Lego branding on, and maybe a bay or two of Lego in the toy aisles. Wilkos sold off their advent calendars for half price, but I checked two nearby stores to no avail - I reckon that was too good a bargain for anyone to pass it up! Lego has been popping up in a few surprising places just recently, like B&M and Branded Bargains (or Home Bargains, whatever variant name your town may have!). I spotted 8060 in HB for £9.99 the other day; and in B&M for £12.99.

Thanks for all of the responses - you've convinced me...I plumped for the Imperial Flagship! I realised that I had £20 stored up in VIP points, so it made it a rather tasty £108 so I think there's no arguing for that price.

Imperial Flagship is currently niggling at me, particularly with it now not showing up at some stores. Just how good a build is it? I posted here a while ago, and IF was on my list then, but I ended up buying the rest of my list instead (Grand Emporium and Emerald Night). I also have Tower Bridge, MMV and Fire Brigade - so most of the current "big" sets. Traditionally, I've been a classic Pirates collector, but with the quirk that all I have are islands/bases and I don't own any ships from the classics line, the POTC line or the recent revived line (bar the little rowboats). I've loved building the modulars, and I've ordered a train set for Christmas so I can motorise my Emerald Night as well. I feel that the way my Lego collection is going is towards buildings and trains...and I can't decide if by letting the Imperial Flagship go I'm making a huge mistake, or if I'm concentrating my collecting in the right way (i.e. I can't buy everything; buy what interests me most). I don't want to miss out on a fantastic build, but I can't help but feel that the Imperial will dwarf the rest of my Pirates collection. With the sale, it's around £130 for 1664 pieces, compared to Pet Shop being circa £110 for 2032 or either of the cargo trains being £120 for 800-ish pieces. Or how about the Winter villages sets? I know there have been rumours about them disappearing for a while, but all 3 are available now - is this the best time to snap them up? (I hate Lego decisions!)

I've seen this before too (I think I've favourited it on Flickr) - but it's a wonderful little piece and definitely deserves more exposure.

Oh, you genius! I can so see it now you've explained it, but I was totally baffled! Thank you.

Thanks for sharing the build - it looks like it's going to be really impressive when it's finished. I am scratching my head as to how the little archway (made of four cheeses) over the door was attached...I keep staring at the photos but the method is eluding me! Clever work.

This is brilliant; what a clever idea! I love the positioning of the wolf in the background. I also like the uneven ground, the different greens for the trees, and the small detail of what the pigs are doing in the scene. Great work.
