Protecting MOC instruction designers. Crowdfunding.
Fatteh replied to rm8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
IP protection aside, I reckon a few creators here could do quite well on Patreon, rather than a limited time CF platform.- 84 replies

Protecting MOC instruction designers. Crowdfunding.
Fatteh replied to rm8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Rm8 acknowledged this and instead proposed a way for people to more easily support the creators at a level they're happy with rather than the fixed price option of an instruction set. IMHO of couse.- 84 replies

I think it's a great idea provided the process is simple (I'm not familiar with CF processes). These are unique models that people put enormous amounts of thought and time into creating and documenting. They inspire a worldwide audience, some of whom can afford to build them, some who just appreciate the design and likely many who would be more than happy to give something back to the makers regardless. I can't justify the cost of collecting the parts for the P1, but would happily drop $10 on a CF platform to give thanks for bringing it to life.- 84 replies

[HELP] Which Technic Set Should I Buy?
Fatteh replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
+1. Just rebuilding this now. Fitting six motors, three receivers, lights and the battery box in the body, then having it work so intuitively with the remote design is genius. -
42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Fatteh replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There's a tonne of lag in the forward gears before the drivetrain actually starts moving the engine. Up to a metre or so of travel. If it still doesn't engage after this, you may have a problem. -
Signature Technic Quirks?
Fatteh replied to jwarner's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Definitely the mold mark hiding for me. Also struggling with the grey liftarm visible on the back left of the Bugatti when it's black in the right. Arrrghh!! -
What motivates you guys to build Technic?
Fatteh replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I mostly build from instructions, including some of the wonderful mod work that people here create and document for all to enjoy. My biggest instruction-free project was making Nathanaël Kuipers' 42000 C-model from the pictures which was very educational and took a looong time. With a young family, time constraints and the lack of an organised workspace are big hurdles to getting into moc-ing, but marvelling at the ingenuity of other peoples work is more than enough to keep me coming back for now. -
42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Fatteh replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Spent a lazy Saturday today building this and marvelling at its design. As the youngest child of four I've been fortunate to have had a lot of lego around since I was a wee lad in the late 70's. My parents kept all that lego and passed it on to us when we had kids because none of my siblings did. Lots of classic space sets and so much else. That sparked me off and I went from buying new stuff for our bairns to collecting and modifying the big technic sets like 8043, before domestic committments took precedence. Then my partner won this in a toystore promotion last week. Just in time for my birthday. I've followed the reveal and modding threads on here, but even Sariel's videos didn't spoil just how crazy this set is. Can't wait to finish it, pull it apart again and start tinkering. Don't mean to threadcrap with personal bumf. I just want to give my thanks to Eurobricks, the wonderful community and the utterly astounding talent of its members. That rump on the Chiron though... hoo boy. -

Here's the spares I had after box 1. Bags 1-3 from L-R. -

I'm just at the end of box 1 now. Will check for you tonight. Though I did have to stop because there was an unexpected robber in my set that made off with the yellow liftarm and left their head behind, so my spares count might not be the most reliable. -
I have a MISB 9398 for sale for $250 if anyone is interested.

I vaguely recall reading something about Amazon not sending Lego to reshippers anymore. Worth a crack though. Let us know if it works.

Maybe they're just being nice and giving someone a bargain? Not everyone is a hard core reseller.

Modification and improvements of 41999. Pimp my BOSS!

Has anyone got any tips for purchasing a 10188 Death Star? Offshore prices are tempting, but shipping and customs charges could make importing it pointless. Is it best to wait for a deal from the local stores? Cheers

I bought some technic parts off a seller on Brick Owl after being directed there from Rebrickable - the integration worked well. Like Bricklink, it is just a marketplace so your experience will depend on which shop you deal with. SuperBrick was absolutely superb.

41999 from shop.lego.com - problems, concerns, questions, answers
Fatteh replied to peter_m's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Awesome. Perhaps people could post the names of such kind-hearted sellers so we know where to direct our business in the future. With permission of course. And on condition that people do not harass them for cheap 41999 sets. Which could be a problem. -

I had another nosey at the forum on a resellers website. Someone commented that perhaps a lot of the ebay trade of 41999 was resellers selling to each other. About a page later in the very same thread, members actually started trying to do just that via the forum. Was quickly shut down by admins. Quite funny. Still not funny for all the people who missed out. -
Release Date Question for Servo, L-Motor & V2 IR
Fatteh replied to 750ACE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yep. The electrickery bits in the servo emit beeping and squeaking sounds. Wouldn't be a Lego motor if it wasn't noisy. -
Review - 41999 4x4 Crawler Exclusive Edition
Fatteh replied to rm8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Built the chassis to the point where it's driveable last night (all the #1 bags). Gave it a quick test this morning driving over piles of shoes and on the duvet covering piles of my children and partner in bed. I had some doubts after reading posts here bemoaning it's lack of crawling performance, but no more. It was really impressive in stock naked form. Will be interesting to see how much adding the sizeable body affects it, and what changing the tyres, battery and final gear ratio do for performance. Good times. Edit: Turns out adding as much weight again above the chassis isn't so good for performance. Who would've guessed? Ha. Gearing down and decent tyres helps, but the naked chassis was still far more capable. Might have to build Yorai Shaoul's Little Boy now. -

41999 from shop.lego.com - problems, concerns, questions, answers
Fatteh replied to peter_m's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It's not illegal to call people out for selfish behaviour either. I really hope the resale market becomes saturated by people who need to sell and those who missed out get the opportunity to buy this set at somewhere near the retail price. -
How much did you pay for your #41999?
Fatteh replied to peter_m's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
41999 was significantly cheaper than 9398 in NZ and Aus. Was the same true in other countries?
