Review: 70008 - Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker
gifinim replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I hate detailed reviews with lots of pictures like this one - they make my credit card hurt :-) I'm not a big fan of mechs but this one looks really well done, especially with all the little touches like the chi crystal and all those flick fire missiles. It's a shame they didn't make the blue pipes and detailing glow-in-the-dark as it would have been a lot closer to the cartoon version and would have looked awesome. Also, don't forget gorillas don't stand upright like us, so the slightly bent over look of the mech might be deliberate. -
Review: 70007 Eglor's Twin Bike
gifinim replied to matthewchan19's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Very detailed review - thank you :-) Nice to see a set with something like a second design or transformation feature. I'm not too keen on the bike but the jet looks very cool. I wonder if they designed the jet first and worked back to the bike?- 7 replies

Beautifully simple design that's really good. I don't think I've ever seen so many people who are waiting for a train looking so happy!

MOC White rabbit Herald, Alice in Wonderland

Very nice! The collar looks really good. -
As so many others have said, anything, anything, other than fire for the 2nd wave... A decent medical centre / doctors office would be a nice change.

I never thought you could get that level of detail in a house using Technic pieces - brilliant work.

That's a seriously nice bit of work on the jungle, and well done for getting such good photos of it!

Sorry for the delay - work got in the way! Comparison of tracks left outdoors to indoors by OutsideBricks (unfortunately no longer updated by the look of things): http://outsidebricks.blogspot.it/2010/10/october.html

I really wish I hadn't watched that video brickgrrl - I'm going to be eyeing up my walls with a hammer in my hand when I get home :-) That's a brilliant setup with a nice balance between display space and keeping a nice living space.

I remember seeing someone test the pf track outside when it first came out - they left a piece outside over winter and left another piece in a box inside and then compared the two after a few months. A side-by-side photo showed very little difference between the tracks, so leaving them outside shouldn't be a problem. Not sure about the points/crossovers with their moving parts though. I'll try and find the original article.

If you want a (relatively) low cost monorail solution have a look at Hidakas project on Cuusoo http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/487 No special bricks and as much track as you care to build. I can't believe this hasn't been jumped on as a perfect way to build modern monorails.

Value & Rarity of 7740 Inter-City Passenger Train

Sit down and have a look at this http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=brasletty&itemID=18927075 Of course there is no guarantee someone will pay that much for it! -
Brilliant design, especially the middle of the upper floor on the inside. And so nice to see something that's not a complete building for a change - I'd rather see open backed buildings with good interior design than another nice-front-boring-back cube anyday!

Nice review! I built this a few days ago and was very pleased with how long the skiff is. It easily holds all the figures without looking too crowded.
-
Simply amazing! You've packed such a lot of detail in without it feeling cluttered. About the only thing missing is a troll!
-
Neat use of the 'brick' bricks at the back of the property. The first version is good but the second version does look better.
-
Very nice. I like the way the 'brick' bricks look in the 3rd house.

My daughter thought it was a gherkin sandwich. Swap the 1x1 green rounds for brown and it looks a lot better!

For the Model or the Parts ?
gifinim replied to Phantom59's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
With Technic, I buy for the model at the moment. Once I'm bored of looking at them or run out of room I'll start breaking them down and see what I can build. -
Should Friends have it's own Sub-Forum?

It's popular enough to have it's own large competitions so why not it's own separate forum? -

Bricklink is working OK but Brickset.com isn't. Strange. -
The Unofficial LEGO Collectors Guide RAFFLE

I'd go for the 6399 Airport Shuttle. The trains are good but monorails are just so much cooler.
