Just saw this on FB. So envious of these folks.....but very happy for them. I'm sure at one point my kid tried to "put" lego on the fridge.

Is Technic relying too much on panels?
bricklayer replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What BachAdict said. The panels seem very customized to a particular set. -

bricklayer replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like that 42008......even the 2nd model looks great. Thing is, the cargo plane Is actually $30 cheaper at Costco.ca compard to the lego site and TRU. It's $124 which is a great price. I might just have get both -

I think tts inevitable in the evolution of the technics theme, and personally like the panels. I always found Technics models to be very crude looking. The other themes have evolved from bricky looking to silky smooth. Lets just hope the "engineering" side doesn't get watered down in the process.(I don't see why It would....TLG know what they are doing) Maybe they are trying to attract a wider audience by making the models look less intimidating/engineer type. What I don't like is what all this paneling means for moccing. You might have to start designing you models around the panels you have available. Just my 2 cents. -
[HELP] Which Technic Set Should I Buy?
bricklayer replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi Technics board. I'm ready to make my first major Technics purchase. I like planes so was thinking to start with the Cargo Plane as my first purchase. Do you think its a good starting point/introduction into motors/gears etc etc? I'm really looking forward to tinkering with the mechanical side of things and see what I could wind up doing. I've been reading a lot on this forum lately and checking out the different MOC's everyone as created....truly inspiring and everyone seems very helpful and super knowledgeable. Thanks for any feedback. -
Thats awesome.......different color scheme, definately think its cool, just like the design.

Whenever my son (6) plays with a set, some pieces fall off, or when he gets too "wild" with the set, it breaks even more apart. Ex: Ladder on firetruck comes off easily when its extended. I keep telling him its lego, and he has to be careful with it. But I can clearly see he gets frustrated and he doesnt look forward to playing with his sets anymore. Whats more, when pieces do fall off, when he tries to put them back he pushes to hard and he breaks another piece off. How do I make him understand that lego is the best thing EVER!!! and that the occasional breakage is a minor annoyance? Any feedback appreciated.

True value of Lego as a whole....Very undervalued IMO
bricklayer posted a topic in General LEGO Discussion
Shouldn't a companies value also take into consideration the resale value its products can fetch on the used market? Take Mattel or Hasbro for example. If you lucky, you might be able to get 50% of your money back on the used market (im not talking about waiting 20 years for something to gain value) Im not shy to buy Lego at full price because I know generally I can recoup 80-90% on the used market short term. On the other hand, I wait for other toys to go on sale before buying them. This factor has a direct bearing on the value of the company for new purchases and indirectly for the used market. But I doubt the used value is taken into consideration for companies values. Just a thought. -
Another freebie PC game. This time on Steam.....Payday. Looks like this is ending soon.

This is the BEST BEST thread IMO. I cant think creatively.....just cant These examples show me the posibilities of some of the sets I have........I really dont know why lego doesnt put these on the boxes anymore. BTW, freakin awesome alternate build!! -

What themes do LEGO "Old Timers" Collect?
bricklayer replied to Legogal's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nice to have this thread, we can certainly learn a lot from it.........though i've still got a ways to go before 50. But im old enough to know that you guys are the true WISE/EXPERIENCED ones. -
Dont take life so seriously mate, its only lego........do whatever you feel in your heart. "Then I've got deeper money issues that make me wonder if I should help people rather than fuel a barely hobby, but that's for another day." Buy some people around here a couple of sets, that will make you feel better. Or seriously, donate some to kids in africa and have them take pictures with their creations......start local. There is probably an orphanage that could do with some of this stuff.

Modifying Lego: Acceptable or Heresy
bricklayer replied to eurotrash's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I dont see an issue......think of it this way, TLG simply hasnt made that part yet. I doubt TLG would mind either. The whole point og lego is to think creatively.
