    Though the question is old, it is still interesting.
    I buy second hand LEGO, both sets and bulk, mainly the latter. When trying to restore the sets, I try to find bricks of the same era. Only if I really cannot find a suitable brick, it will be replaced by newer ones. But then I will make a note in my collections on Brickset and Rebrickable, so I hopefully later on can swap the bricks, if I find a suitable one.

    Congratulations on the 10 years of Brickville, @SalvoBrick!

    For the past years, I have not been overly active here on EuroBricks. I can see that from the changes that have happened to Brickville. I do remember your distinct building style, and see that you still build in the same size. I think this size is a perfect compromise between the classic Town/City and Modular buildings. You still can get a layout with a variety of buildings, even though you do not have an enormous LEGO room.

    Insane as I am, I am trying to register all my parts (give or take...). For the time being, I am nearly through the sets. Parts collected and registered, taken notes of missing or replaced bricks.

    Once through the sets, I will count the loose parts (and sort those bricks that have not been that yet) - coming from different sources. I use Rebrickable for the parts. This way, I can see if I have other sets in the collection, that might be interesting enough to find the parts for. Eventually to sell sets from themes I have no interest in. I also will check up, if I have some parts to complete sets that miss some bricks.

    Final aim is to find out how big the collection is. I have a rough estimate, though I would like to get closer to the actual number.

    It takes a lot of time, no doubt about it. Sometimes breaks are longer that I would like them to be, but it can drive you crazy... :pir_wacko:

    WOW! It is really amazing!

    I have never seen these ideas for CMFs, Robert8. But I must say, there are so many great ideas. It is hard to choose favourites, I want so many. But that said, due to my interests, I really appreciate both the ancient Egyptians and almost everything Yule/Christmas.

    To me, the train looks like an EMU, electric multiple unit, so no need of a power unit. The train also seems to be built with the Danish designed "rubber nose" found on the Danish IC3 and IR4 trains, the Danish-Swedish Øresund Train as well as on some Belgian and Spanish trains.

    Curious! Here in Denmark we also have a dolphin visiting our waters. It's on the border to the Baltic Sea.

    It has been named "Delle", as the Danish word for dolphin is "delfin". Delle, though, also means "roll of fat".

    I like how you manage to include actual events into Ballabreek, greg3.

    Nevertheless LEGO sets are often less expensive in Germany than in Denmark, as pointed out in the examples given. On a European scale Denmark is quite expensive when it comes to LEGO. Personally I found it worth carrying home a Modular building from Germany to Denmark.

    If I do remember right, my previous orders were also delivered from Germany.

     

    Today I have received a nice answer from LEGO Customer Service. It is explained that there is an issue with checking out. Hence the service has been temporarily cancelled for most countries, until the problem has been solved. It ought to be up and running again within a few days. - It is, however, not explained why it is possible to make orders from certain countries...

    Well... It did not take long from I explored the new system until I wrote an email to customer service uttering my dissatisfaction regarding the new coupon system, as well as the new geographical limitation on buying bricks from Bricks & Pieces where only residents of four (4) countries can buy there now.

    I think it is great that points can be spend on other things now (not that I plan to do that), but this whole coupon system seems very annoying and certainly not very clear.

    I just noticed the exact same thing. Not even here in Denmark - home of TLG - we can order bricks from Bricks and Pieces anymore. I was saving my points to spend them here. This is very disappointing! :damn:

     

    EDIT/addition: They have already received an email from me regarding this issue.

    Regarding the doors on the starboard side of the aircraft, they are typically used as service doors, eg. for catering. And of course as emergency exits.

    Almost all aircraft have doors on the starboard side mirroring the port side doors, though there are exceptions. Almost all regional jets and turboprops only have doors on the port side and so does the DC-9/MD-80/MD-90/B717 family. These aircraft often have a smaller service door at the galley.

    At least here in Denmark it is not unusual that Father Christmas/Santa Claus is arriving in a fire truck when it is time to light the Christmas tree on the town square. Eventually he is using the ladder or lift to get up to the top of the tree.

    When I was a child in the 80s it was not uncommon in my hometown that a vintage fire truck was going around in the city centre with children - and Father Christmas in the front seat.

    At the yearly World Santa Claus Congress held in July at the Danish amusement park Bakken there is a parade including Santa Clauses from around the world - and fire trucks.

    So here the fire brigade is indeed connected to Christmas.

    Back in the 90s I did not have any LEGO train sets, except 166 Flat Wagon. So instead I drew a lot of trains, Inter-City trains, regional trains, metro/suburban trains. They were operated by LJ Legolands Jernbaner, meaning Legoland's Railways.

    LJ was serving the island state of Legoland (surprise :wink:) with the capital called Legoby (Lego Town/City).

    Nowadays I have some trains, but no new name... So I guess I am still sticking to LJ. Though my trams probably are operated by LET Legobytrafikken (Legoby Transport). "Let" means easy in Danish.

    After seeing a part of the "Jul i juli" (Play on words in Danish meaning Christmas in July) at a funfair, I am quite a bit in a Christmas mood. There was a parade of the Father Christmases/Santa Clauses from around the world who take part in the yearly World Congress for Father Christmases. Restaurants and rides are decorated and there is a Christmas market. And it all in 28 degrees Celsius and sunshine. Now I have an idea how it is to celebrate Christmas on the Southern hemisphere :grin:

    So now I am really looking forward to see what this year's Winter Village set will be. In general, I hope for new sets every year, even though I only have a few of the sets. But should it be a result of the post office, I will not complain. In case the set is not that interesting, I hope to get last year's train station.

    As always you manage to make a story of new sets and trends in LEGO. I like the moderne remake of the 600 "Copcar". Such a shame I missed the show back then :hmpf_bad: Is it available on Netbrix? :wink: 

    Actually it is funny to see that 600 Police Car - where the minifig is not able to be seated in the car - was release the same year as 621 Police Car which both seats the police officer and has doors that open. - These two types of cars were release side by side until 1981. Hereafter only cars that did seat minifigs were released.

    Well... I think I like it. Normally I am not too crazy about the big nose parts, but this could be a better one. Not least with a windshield that looks like LEGO.

    It is nice to see that there is an onboard bistro or maybe even restaurant. It is not often we see that nowadays. I hope it has a different interior compared to the passenger coach.

    The train is quite AFOL friendly, as you just have to buy two sets in order to have a full train with four coaches and two locomotives without any MODing needed. This is also a double-edged sword, though, as most AFOLs most likely cannot accept half a train and hence have to boy two sets :sceptic:

    I look forward to see more pictures of this - and the other new trains.

    I can only agree with the others. You have (once again) made a fantastic looking skyscraper. And that being said by someone who is not that crazy about those high buildings. But, Wooootles, you have an for making architectural details that make the buildings interesting.

    I look forward to seeing the interiors.

    Many of the clips on my flags from Castle and Pirates (80s/90s) broke already in my childhood. I remember attaching them with sticky tape and maybe even glue to continue using them.

    From what I have been reading about storing LEGO in plastic bags, I consider stop using it. And for the plastic bins I mainly use, I thing about making some air holes for ventilation. I do not know if the problem is existing, it just to be on the safe side :look:

    Oh! This is how Downtown Diner should have looked from the beginning! I like the Modern Streamline part of the DD, and I also like the façade of the main building. But I do not think they fit together and wish the whole building was designed in Modern Streamline. You have made it a complete building, cimddwc. This is so much how it ought to be.

    Besides that, I am with the others - I also prefer the three storey version of the building.

    It is nice to see that Ballabreek has made it through the holidays. It is nice to see an updated overview of the village. Much have changed through the years. I do not think there is much left of the Ballabreek I started to follow years ago, Greg3 :wink: And even though it has grown from the original six baseplates, you manage to make the village such a lively and vibrant place on such a (relatively) small space due to all your updates and stories.

    I just wonder how I can have missed the 2018 updates on your lovely little village, Greg3. I guess I have not been visiting Eurobricks that much... :blush:

    Looking forward to see what 2018 will bring Ballabreek.

    You mention the Atlantis crown jewel (I kinda regret never getting that one myself, it is indeed good), Prince of Persia (I really wish I got the "castle" there), Indiana Jones as good examples - but they are all looooong gone.

    I do agree that the selection of Castle and Pirates and "compatible" sets has been rather small the last years. Luckily the sets from The LEGO Ninjago movie gives us a few that are interesting in this way. I am for example planning on getting 70608 Master Falls which I think almost screams "Pirates". - I also think the buildings from Elves can provide a good base for houses for Castle and Pirates, though you will have to find use for quite a few alternatively coloured bricks...

    I did mention some of the "older" themes as examples of themes/sets you can buy even though you have no interest in the theme itself. As newer examples it could be Ninjago or some the superheroes' sets, they often provide small shops or parts of bigger places, like factories. Friends is also good for this.
