Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Yes, we have had many builders who posted renders. The better the render quality, the better feedback we can give on the actual building, but renders are fine. Not all contests will accept them, but for regular freebuilds they work. And there is nothing wrong with building with a limited parts collection! You don't need a PAB wall in your basement to build cool stuff.

    [MOC] B-Wing Starfighter

B-Wing Starfighter The B-Wing Starfighter is a new addition to the Neo-Classic Space fleet, featuring dual cockpits, antenna arrays, lots of thrust, and some potent blasters. She's not the most maneuverable ship in the galaxy, but she's got it where it spells, kid. Over on Flickr and Instagram, Dave Kaleta (I don't think he's on Eurobricks, but I could be wrong) is hosting a contest to build alphabet starfighters. Since I love both spaceships and literacy, I decided to join in the fun. I had to start with my favorite letter, B, piloted by a blue 1980s-something spaceman (and a yellow 2019 spaceman, too). This is my first foray into Neo-Classic Space, and I am decently pleased with the results. And I finally finished a spaceship that I liked, which is a plus, after failing for several years. I threw in as many Classic Space pieces as I could, like the three loudspeakers/positioning rockets on the back, or the computers in the twin cockpits. But of course it is Neo-Classic Space, not Classic Space, so lots of modern curves and tiles made it in, and copious greebles. When viewed from above, it makes a lovely B. C&C welcome.

Ha! I was the first to welcome Beleg, then. But either way, Avalonia shines as a welcoming people.

Book III - Challenge V: Intrigue On The Island Guild

After consulting with the other leaders, no, there is no height restriction. The text was meant to be interpreted as you said, that you can have any shape as long as you do not exceed the 784 studs.

Welcome, Beleg! Make sure that you announce yourself in the dedicated thread for Mitgardia, too, so SoccerKid6 can get you added in. I look forward to seeing what you can build!

Make it longer, like 14x56, and then you have more space. Or use vertical space to your advantage, which I know you can do having seen your Avalonia:GoT entry. Forced perspective, clever camera angles, all these things can help with the limited space.

I'd recommend making your own, though you can build in other cities if you wish.

@Grover answered the questions pretty well. When I created Queen Ylspeth, I used Rey's face and Barbara Gordon's hair, since they were fairly easy to find at the time. Wyldstyle/Lucy's face could be used in yellow. Beyond that, she should appear in regal garb, but I like to imagine her something like Queen Amidala from SW, in that she could have as many outfits as there are scenes she appears in. They can be in any color, too. Dark red and gold are the royal colors (with white accents here and there) and the royal sigil is the Unicorn. Hope that helps!

The halved shields with guild colors were for participation in Book I.

    [Custom CMF] Heroes of Mitgardia

Shouldn’t #5 have a beard? These are pretty amazing. Maybe I’ll do an Avalonian version someday...

    With the hunters

As the others have said, a lower camera angle would help tremendously. A higher, birds-eye view can be useful, and oftentimes as builders we want to show everyone that shot (because it shows everything in the build better); yet the angle is so unnatural for us (unless you are a bird, but I have a hunch you are human, too) that it makes the build look less interesting and less detailed. A shot or two from the perspective of the figs can do a lot to bring the viewer into the scene. A slightly higher angle, but from further out, can serve as a decent overview shot, but in general you want lower camera angles--especially from up close. The build is nice, with some lovely snow and a delightful beast to serve as target practice. I would recommend changing the way the figs hold the bows, though, as I have never seen a bow shot with one arm.
