  1. Hello! This is my fourth of 19 posts I will be doing, where I will be building my way through the Hobbit story, one chapter per post, I will do this over the course of the year...

I built this back in May, for MELO, but it also worked out as my next build for my Hobbit Project, and I just haven't gotten around to posting it till now...

Anyways, about the build, this is on a 50 x 30 ish base, and is about 1500 pieces, is super flimsy, and was a ton of fun to make! :D So, I hope you enjoy! :D

    Here are some more pics:

And of course, some WIP pics:

Again, this was built a while back, so you will probably recognize it from a previous post, still, please comment, like, and leave some constructive criticism! :D

    I hope you enjoyed!

Irregular to see someone use loose tiles just on the backdrop for the ground, but it works very well here.  Great work!

Thanks! That was a last minute decision because I didn't have the type of pieces I needed for a little bottom wall section of the lower wall... Thanks again for the feedback! :D

Great work! The loose pieces around the structure are an interesting technique, and you've pulled it off well. Must have taken quite a while to set that up, I know I wouldn't have the patience for it.

Thanks! Yeah, it took around 20 minutes because most of the tiles were upside down and I had to flip them. But, I still left quite a few upside down... Thanks again! :D

Hello! This is my entry for Round 3 of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics! My category was Ithilien, so I decided to build the fight between the oliphaunts and the rangers of Ithilien!

    Linky to MELO... :D

    So, onto the build:

    14978401917_SPLASH.jpg

    14978401918_SPLASH.jpg

Again, no WIP pictures this time, as I just wanted to chug through this one without any advice... :D

This build is roughly 70 x 60 at max with an irregular baseplate, the oliphaunts took around 5 days to build and the landscape took the other 3... (The first 2 days I was still scrambling for what to build...) So yeah, I really went out of my comfort zone for this one, I am not a pro at BBFs, but I really do like these, the heads are actually at a couple different angles off of each other, and the "nets" in the movie are out of lego capes... I hope the judges see that I went out of my comfort zone for this one... :D Anyways, I hope you enjoyed! This was a fun one!

Good luck Classical! May the best Ithilien Ranger win! :D

    C&C Appreciated!

Great scene and a nice looking part of Minas tirith. Personally I would have added a lil bit of black or dark Blue for the Roofs. Also like how you did the window roof and curved wall. Pictures could be a lil sharper (browsing on smartphone). Good job ☺

Thanks! I wanted to keep the stone Minas Tirith feel, so I didn't go for the dk. blue, but that would have been my second choice... Also, pictures are pretty bad, the lighting was terrible that day, and I had to finish before the deadline...

  5. Hi! This is my entry for Round 2 of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics! My category was Gondor, so I decided to build a wall section of Minas Tirith!

    Onto the build:

    14967773101_SPLASH.jpg

    14967773102_SPLASH.jpg

    14967773116_SPLASH.jpg

    14967773128_SPLASH.jpg
No WIP pictures this time, as I just wanted to chug through this one without any advice... :D

This build is roughly a cubic foot, it's length is a little longer, and it's height is a little short... Also, it is probably around 2200 pieces... So, Minas Tirith is a very monochromatic subject, as you can see, most of the build is in the greyscale. Which in my opinion makes the market scenery pop out, and really gives the action to the figs, what the scene is about... I hope you enjoyed! This was a fun one!

Good luck Sean! May the best Gondorian win! :D

    C&C Appreciated!

  6. Welcome! This is my entry to MELO, it is on a 50 x 30 ish base, and is about 1500 pieces, it is a build of Goblin Town... Enjoy!

Linky to MELO on Mocpages... :D

This build went pretty quickly, but I had to have a bunch of minor changes, and it fell apart sometimes, along with trying to get an ok looking Brickbuilt Goblin... :D

    Anyways, here are some pics:

So, if you didn't know, Round 1 of MELO is happening, and this is my entry to the contest, the Round 1 category is Poems/Songs, and I chose the Down To Goblin Town:

    Clap! Snap! the black crack!
    Grib, grab! Pinch, nab!
And down, down to Goblin town
    You go, my lad!
    Clash, crash! Crush, smash!
Hammer and tongs! Knocker and gongs!
    Pound, pound, down underground!
    Ho, ho! my lad!
    Swish, smack! Whip crack!
Batter and beat! Yammer and bleat!
Work, work! Nor dare to shirk,
While Goblins quaff, and Goblins laugh,
    Round and round far underground
    Below, my lad!

Good luck to my fellow MELO contestants, this is gonna be a expected and fun journey! (Hooray for bad puns!) :D ;)

Nice rockwork - the second one must have been quite the challenge in getting all the sections to blend together, but you did a great job.

I was able to recognize all the scenes, so I'd say you did well! As for improvements, perhaps you could pose the figures to better capture the action of the scenes. E.g., have an orc or two chasing the dwarves in the first one, add an elf on horseback for the second one, and have the figures standing around the map for the third moc.

I look forward to seeing the other chapters!

Thanks Loreman!!!! My problems is I didn't take my chance that I had to get the Hobbit/LOTR sets, I only got bag end, so I only have these characters... Thanks for the suggestions though!! Very helpful! :D :D :D

  8. Hello! This is my third of 19 posts I will be doing, where I will be building my way through the Hobbit story, one chapter per post, I will do this over the course of the year...

Anyways, about the builds, these are three builds, that I wanted to do, and I felt like they best fit into the Rivendell chapter best, so I decided to build three builds, and put them in one post... :D

So, my first build is on an irregular baseplate, but it is roughly 36 x 52... Also, fun fact, of the colors that are showing minus the figs, there are only three colors total... :D

    Here is my main pic:

Here are some pics of my first build:

    The ugly backside:

Here is a pretty similar to the finished product WIP pic of my first build:

    14913506871_SPLASH.jpg

So, my second build doesn't really have a baseplate, but it is roughly 39 x 16... Also, fun fact, of the colors that are showing minus the figs, there are only three colors total... :D

Here are some pics of my second build:

Here are some WIP pics of my second build:

    14913507571_SPLASH.jpg

    14913507572_SPLASH.jpg

And finally, my third build, which also doesn't have a baseplate, and is about 30 bricks wide... Also, only three colors, if you don't include the texturing on the map...

Here are some pics of my third build:

    14913505041_SPLASH.jpg

Here are some WIP pics of my third build:

    14913507272_SPLASH.jpg

I hope you enjoyed as much as I had fun building them!!!! My favorite is by far the second one, and I experimented with two different colors blended rockwork, all these have three different colors showing... :D

  9. Hello everyone, there is a contest, that comes around annually, and never ceases to impress, both with the fun from the participants, the difficulty deciding for the judges, and even the amazement of the viewers, of the the Middle Earth builds posted in the 5th annual Middle Earth Lego Olympics on Mocpages. I had the honor of helping set up the contest this year, and I am very excited for what is ahead, since the Mocpages forum is dying off, and we still want to have a competition that is fun, and challenging, we are advertising this contest on all other sites so that it can meet the expectations of the moccers on Mocpages. There will be six rounds, of different Middle Earth related such as Poems/Songs in the books and/or movies. Round 1 will be a free for all, which will be judges by 6 judges on a 1-10 point scale where the top 32 contestants will move on to the next round, then, from rounds 2-6, the rounds will be a one-on-one moc-off, where contestants will face off, and the judges will choose whose build they think is better.

Please check out the contest by clicking the link below the banner:

  10. Hello! This is my second of 19 builds I will be doing, where I will be building my way through the Hobbit story, one chapter per build, I will do this over the course of the year...

Anyways, about the build, this is one of the bigger Roast Mutton scenes I have seen, and is on a 52 x 53 quarter irregular base.

    Here are some more pics:

And here is the main pic again:

    14897883381_SPLASH.jpg

This project started out pretty quickly, then kinda slowed down... I also had to clean my lego room, which surprising or not, took me about a week and a half to do... Another issue I faced, is the trolls themselves, as you can see, I am pretty bad with making brick-built creatures... :P I really struggle with that, and these (Which isn't great...) are my best brick-built creatures yet, otherwise, this IMO is a pretty good, and detailed moc...

    C&C Appreciated!

Anyways, about the build, this is the first olive green bag end! Or at least the first that I have seen, it is on a 32 x 32 baseplate. :D

Here are some pics of the build:
