  1. I don't own any Christo customs but I have admired them from afar. Given what you say about the quality of them I would guess that they are pad printed. I still stand by what I said earlier in this thread, that digital flat-bed printers are the most accessible to customisers (although still prohibitive on cost), but if you aim to get a similar quality to Christo I don't think a digital flat-bed printer is going to achieve that - I suppose you'd need to get a trial print from the suppliers prior to committing to buy.

With regards to design, if you intend to do the design work yourself that's ideal, but I suppose if you see anything you like by other customisers it could be worth making a freelance/one-off production deal with them. I reckon most customisers would be up for seeing their designs machine printed and earning a bit of cash on the side.

I believe you're mistaken. the flatbeds are actually better than the pad's Christo's prints will look like anyone elses prints because they are small(excluding low quality printers). the smaller an image the better the quality. that's why cropped images start to look bad ; most things will perform like Christo's except for the low quality pads. The flatbeds use the ink that's needed. If you look closely at pad prints you can see the thickness of lines varies and is sometimes smudged. To see the difference in quality(not saying anything is bad or good no opinions) look at Chrito's work and eclipsexgraphics work. Not putting anyone/thing down, just stating the facts of the printers.

  2. As far as I can tell Lego intended the Robin figure to be based on Tim Drake, the suit was worn by him in the 90's I think. Tt games got confused and labeled him as Dick Grayson. Nightwing could use the Robin suits in the first Batman game as well, I think it's just because he was Robin a long time ago.

But remember the suit is just a suit. You can't tell by the face if it's Tim or Dick. These mistakes don't happen almost ever. I'm still wiuth my vote that they liked the suit and wanted a Dick Grayson Robin.

  3. What are you guys thoughts on this? I think LEGO found a suit they liked and intended on Robin being Dick Grayson and the game is just the 2nd LEGO Batman game having nothing to do with the 1st.

Also does anyone notice how in the PS3 and Xbox 360 game, Nightwing is just cheap DLC and is basically another pre-made character with a new skin.e turns into Robin when he uses a suit portal. In the 3ds and PSVita, He is not cheap and he can even use stealth to sneak behind foes and attack and even get past the laser cameras unnoticed; much like Batman's Sensor Suit. At least he can use the grapple in the platform ones.

  4. I can't tell entirely what is going on, but I do have decals for my Damian Wayne Robin (he can be seen somewhere in the link provided in my sig) if you're interested. :classic:

Oh, and I also have a Red Robin costume too, but not that design. :sceptic:

I think he's good. I made him some perfect decals for them already.

  5. Hmmm...but if the continuity follows on from the first game, technically shouldn't Robin be Tim Drake? Because Nightwing is an unlockable character in the first LEGO Batman, not part of a DLC.

Additionally, if the LEGO set continuity has anything to do with the game - we got Nightwing in the original Arkham Asylum...so shouldn't Robin be Tim Drake?

I find this irrelevant. I said he's cheap DLC in LEGO Batman 2. Nothing about the first game. In the DS game, Nightwing isn't DLC and they put effort into him. He can even use stealth like Batman's Sensor Suit.

I think you're just reading too much into it. Tt probably jst called him Dick because he's the one with whom people are most familiar. From the 60s TV show and the 90s films.

The point of the conversation is going deep into it. If we didn't something would be missing. Taking the easy way out is never good. My guess is they saw a Robin costume they liked and used it as a skin but intended on the character to be Dick Grayson. The suit is just a skin that they liked.

  6. These are good ideas, but how many of you a really going to go through with it. I'm 1/3rd done saving up for one of these printers. Like Christo, I don't want to say the one I will be using. I have about 40 designs right now that I'm waiting for the printer on. I believe in waterslide decals but definitely not paper or paint. I only like to do high quality things for designs ,so this is the only option for me.

The only problem with pd printing is that each part gets a new design. Let's take Red Robin for example. You have to stamp the black curved part on his torso first. Then you do the abs. then the harness. With all this the machine can miss. In printing, you can just screen one image over and have an exact copy of how you intended it to be. The pad thing is why you see LEGO faces with aligned lips but thou mouth line is off. Also if any of you saw the BrickQueen Video of Hulk, you will see that the face is not center.

  7. I'm pretty sure the game's a sequel. However, I was talking about Lego's continuity in general. In their version Tim Is currently Robin, and I believe there was a mistake on Tt's part. And yes Nightwing and Damian are on a cheap DLC that was thrown for Preordering. But that means that they exist and Robin can't be Dick, when in their continuity he's already Nightwing.

But really, in the end they're just playable characters. That really doesn't have to do with the plot of the story of the game.

The older Robin minifigure couldn't be Damian Wayne as the Figure was released in 2006 but, Damian didn't become Robin until 2009. I think that figure was meant to represent the Robin from The New Batman Animated series from back in the 90's, which many of the figures were ( Two Face, Mr Freeze).

Anyway back on Topic I think that the smallest set next year will be the Spider-man vs Venom set. I think it include the Spiderbike and a small street corner.

Actually it wasn't designed from that one. I don;t think they;d use the animated series for prints. They most likely used Freddie E. Williams II Robin. They Long sleeved Red and Black one. Yeah the Red and Black Robin has around 70 something comics.

  8. I see your point. But like the comics, Lego has a continuity.

So, Dick has left and become Nightwing, Jason has become the Red Hood, Tim's the current Robin, and Damian exists and is more like a back up Robin. The game seriously made a mistake and called Robin Dick when in Lego's continuity he is Tim Drake.

yeah, I know. I read all the comics :P

But I don't remember them saying that the game was set after the first. It can be LEGO Batman 2 and be based before the first. I don;t think it was based on a continuity. Just the second game. Nightwing was just an extra DLC character. He's cheap. He can't double jump or do backflips and his face looks weird, and he turns into Robin when you go through a portal.

  9. Yes it is Tim in the game, was mislabeled. Actually, I think it resembles Damian Wayne's makeshift Robin suit. I really hope it's Damian, or I will pretend it is!

Even if it was supposed to be Tim, they called him Dick so it's not Tim in the game, it's Dick even if he was mislabeled. On the LEGO website he's listed as Dick. LEGO really doesn't do that much research they just saw the OYL suit and just called it Dick Grayson. I see a lot of people see the suit and say Tim. It;'s just a Robin suit. Any writer can make it whatever. Like the Robin suit in Batman: Under the Red Hood. That just was almost Identical to Tim's OYL suit from the comics, but it was Jason Todd in it.

Sorry if this bursts any bubbles. ;) After all it's just a name, the game was still great! :D

  10. Very weird request I know, but could someone please do me a couple of decals, with no rush at all. :classic:

Please may I have face and body decals for Ziggy Stardust, as he appears here:

There are the decals I did by now, I'm going to do the others you asked for. Hope you like them. I'm really proud of Tim Drake's torso, it looks likes very lego-ish.

You don't find those inaccurate? Red Robin's emblem is more like a center piece than a shield o the torso.

And Damian Has a different R than that.

  12. In the future if you want a certain color piece, I suggest you buy a lighter colored piece and dye it. I see painting as unstable because no one can make it exact, I don't think it's possible. I buy the Sleepyhead hairs in Blonde and dye them black and green for Robin's and Jokers. A good key to tell if something is good is to see if it looks like LEGO made it.

  13. This may be fun, but everyone remember that none of you know for sure yet because the sets haven't come out yet. :D

The only way to know is to wait until 2013. But I can see these being cheaper than the first Batman sets, but something tells me these won't be cheap like the Super Heroes parts on BrickLink. You can get batman figures for about $5 now haha

  14. I saw that too! Playing the game is making me want some different Robins too. The Acrobat Robin is pretty funny. I just can't wait til September to check out the Electro-Suit Batman!!

Great work on the vig. I know what I'm doing when I get home! I love the flames too!! Just like the game!!

    What's September?

I'm mad that them made robin only able to double jump in the Acrobat suit. And he has a Bo Staff in the suit. Too bad you can only get the Blue/White in the Custom Character Vault.
