    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

Another instagram story from lego with "the magic is you" linking to a video of Luna's actress on the lego Harry Potter site - does this imply that we're getting the D2C reveal soon?

It's a really valuable GWP as far as I'm concerned, absolutely love the Flipendo easter egg, great spot! Just out of interest, what has everyone ordered to get the GWP? I went for Grimmauld Place (can't wait) and the First Flying Lesson - they're both exclusives so unlikely to get them on much of a discount anyway.

    [MOC] David Tennant's TARDIS Console

Normally I try to stick to Harry Potter lego but I think a tenth doctor would be my most desired figure - it's possibly the most moc'ed fig never to be released. In fact a whole Doctor Who CMF series would be perfect with various doctors/companions/aliens. @somelegothings_ any chance you have the lego ideas TARDIS that you could put your console in? I know the other details wouldn't be consistent but it would be fun to see!

    [MOC] David Tennant's TARDIS Console

Love it! Also just been re-watching Doctor who for the first time and it's so great. I've recently bricklink-ed a few parts to make the Doctor and I love the console you've made, very inspiring - the hand in a jar is a particularly brilliant touch!

It's an interesting set description. I personally don't like the inclusion of quotes, display panels etc so I hope these don't feature too prominently in the set although I'm pretty sure this will be a pass for me. It sounds like it will be a very large scale model in order to justify the price and from the description it doesn't sound like there will be much of a station, let alone 2! I think the minifigs are the most interesting part of the set: - The 1st year trio will likely only have one exclusive figure (Ron) as we've had the Harry/Hermione figures in the 2021 advent calendar - It'll be nice to get the 3rd year trio with the mid-legs/faceprints/hairpieces that should have been included in the 2018 set - Lupin might get a new print but it doesn't seem necessary and the dementor will presumably be the same as the ministry set, trolley witch also wouldn't need an update - Very cool to get a conductor - I love the minor characters that flesh out the world a bit - It'll also be interesting to see the HBP figs, black suit Draco is fun, hopefully Luna is in a duller pink colour and Harry is a new fig - I hope the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students are named because there's plenty of options still out there - I'm also interested to see how they do the epilogue figures

Cool polybag but not an essential for me. Hard to keep track of all the new owls! The rabbit and hare are cool potential additions for a transfiguration classroom or Hogwarts grounds. On an unrelated note, when the new boutique hotel came out I decided I would try swapping out the pink in QQS for light nougat and I’m delighted with the result. It’s a shame the colour didn’t exist when Diagon Alley was released. Link below for anyone interested. https://www.instagram.com/p/CdDa9mArUB_/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

The lego disney train with station was £300 so say we had the same with Hogsmeade station too then it would be easy enough to get to the price point (still seems way more than it needed to be). As much as it's hardly a solid source, a Hogwarts Express D2C is a no brainer at some point assuming there's a few years to go. In other news... My latest obsessing over the summer wave yielded an observation that the top right room of Grimmauld place seems to be Regulus' room - the top left room is clearly Sirius' room with the Gryffindor plaque. But the other bedroom has what I'm sure is another Slytherin's locket piece above the window, even if you can only see a bit of the side.

As with the supposed Hogwarts Professors accessory pack I'm very dubious about this "leak". But it's fun to entertain the thought. If the set is to include the station and the train then I think there will be a couple of carriages otherwise the station would dwarf the train. A train with carriages in a station at ~500usd would still probably pass as minifig scale with compartments in each carriage. So we could see a lot of figs. My guess is that the set would be based on the Philosopher's Stone as this is the most iconic scene. This could include Molly with hat, Fred & George (for first time at a younger age), Percy, Ginny, station guard, other assorted students. Presumably a good entrance to platform 9 3/4 mechanism. Perhaps a separate plinth with 19 years later Harry, Ron and Hermione. There certainly is potential and it could be a nice display piece. Totally not fussed if this is the D2C, as with last year I'm sure it'll be better than expected. We'll get Gringotts, it's the glaring omission and lego know that - it better be compatible with Diagon Alley when it does come but I'm not bothered if it's 2023 or even later.

I'm surprised that some people find this an underwhelming wave for minifigs. We've been given some of the most desirable characters that are always mentioned here like Kreacher, OotP Sirius, OotP Tonks, Yaxley, Werewolf Lupin and they all look amazing with new molds, recolours, great print, leg-printing, etc. There is zero need to worry about missing characters - if anything it's good that we're missing some major names because LEGO will definitely have ideas for them in the pipeline, they're clearly slowly filling in the gaps with the figures we're missing. Add to that some of the other less prominent new characters which for me are the most exciting to really flesh out the world like the 3 polyjuice Ministry workers, Mary Cattermole, Thicknesse and possibly my favourite of the wave Madam Pince. And some great new variants like Filch, Molly, Shacklebolt, Lupin, Harry and Luna in the Thestral set. Not to mention Crookshanks, Mrs Norris, Fawkes, baby Thestral. We've been totally spoilt as far as I'm concerned and it feels like no expense has been spared. Any re-uses of previous prints are appropriate and there as so many brilliant new face, torso and leg prints. I actually think the production costs of the figs might be why some sets seem quite expensive but for me personally I'd much rather LEGO didn't cut corners and upped the prices a bit if necessary, I wait for good sales anyway. Separately... the Tonks and Voldy heads are a strange one. Tonks one is probably in Grimmauld place which is again very generous. Otherwise they definitely could be from an advent calendar or CMF (the Diagon Alley Harry leaked way earlier than this a couple of years back). I think the Voldemort face is most likely from the Dumbledore duel or the final battle. Which leaves two options as far as I can tell: - Either the advent calendar is OotP themed with references to the Ministry battle/Grimmauld place etc - Or the D2C is the battle of Hogwarts centred around the courtyard which I'm personally less interested in as I prefer Hogwarts as a school to a battleground.

This is a dream wave! Thank you LEGO!!! Some potential all-time greats here, the Ministry and Grimmauld Place stand out the most but I'm amazed how good the Dumbledore's office is. Madam Pince is a work of art - I adore this inclusion. Baby Fawkes, new Filch, Mrs Norris, new invisibility cloak... all amazing and the set itself is beautiful. Sooooo delighted to get a Kreacher and OotP Sirius and Tonks. Always nice to get a new Fred and George too. Grimmauld Place is so clever with lovely details: Crookshanks, extendable ears, the Troll foot umbrella stand! Ministry is perfect, love the colours, the offices and both display options. Minifigure selection is unbelievably generous - 10 figs including statue plus 3 polyjuice alternatives. Yaxley, Thicknesse, Mary Cattermole, patronus cat, Slytherin's locket are sublime. Thestral set is a great choice for the small set of the wave, Sirius escape is nice but feels slightly empty - I like the foliage and courtyard build. Horntail is an improvement but a skip for me. Shrieking shack feels a bit pricy but it's great. Interior a bit lacking but that's to be expected with an abandoned building! All in all a fantastic line up, absolutely delighted with it!

Thanks a lot for this @evanevanevan! I really like this sort of thing and the results seem very solid. I always feel like the Clock Tower set is slightly underrated so nice to see it be well regarded. 2020 definitely packs the biggest punch: 2018 (3rd, 5th), 2019 (4th, 6th, 10th), 2020 (1st, 2nd, 7th), 2021 (8th, 9th). I'd love to be able to see next year's ranking, I feel like Dumbledore's Office, the Shrieking Shack, the Ministry of Magic and the D2C could all have a good chance of making the top ten.

Any excuse to bring up my table again of the most prominent missing characters as of the end of 2021. Obviously this omits any missing variants but there's still loads of significant figures we're missing and the summer wave doesn't seem to be ticking anything off the list. Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

I must say I'm very sceptical about this rumour. It's a similar format to the leaks from kingnono(?) in previous years. None of their posts are confirmed true and some are provably false. Nonetheless, I'll entertain the thought. I don't think a professors accessory pack is a bad idea but I struggle to think how we'd get much new. In previous years we've had 2 new prints (Marauders map/Ravenclaw torso then DA list/dress piece) so I don't think we can expect too much in the way of new characters. I'd not be surprised if we got a repeat of Snape and McGonagall from the moments sets or a Lupin/Filch from the summer wave. In terms of new characters I don't think Binns/Pince would be doable with one new print/piece. I think a Lockhart in duelling club attire would be great - a good pairing with Snape for playability and not something we'd likely get elsewhere (already had a duelling club reference in last year's great hall). A Grubbly-Plank figure feels double with the scarecrow hat piece and perhaps the torso of the short guy from the Home Alone set.

Love these kinds of questions! 1. Diagon Alley 2. Clocktower 3. Astronomy tower 4. Burrow 5. Hogsmeade 6. Hagrid's hut 7. Knight bus 8. Hogwarts Express 9. First advent calendar 10. Hogwarts Chamber of secrets And a bonus shout out to the Umbridge's encounter set that was way better than I expected.

Well that sucks. Hopefully this year's sets will somewhat make up for it! Welcome @Alas_Earwax! Exciting to have our first release day of the year, I hope anyone getting the new sets enjoys them. I'll probably wait for a deal down the line but it would be nice to hear people's opinions. @BrickMatit I hope Pomfrey lives up to expectations!

    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

I really hope that the D2C is minifigure scale and I think it might be based on the pattern so far. It's very difficult to predict what it could be however. The price seems too high for the other side of Diagon Ally or Gringotts, and too low for a combination of the two. Other large settings such as the Ministry and Hogsmeade have been covered by smaller sets. So if it is minifig scale I wonder whether it could be a very large Great Hall set with courtyard, boathouse and rocky foundation. It's a very common/popular MOC so there's obviously a lot of interest out there but it still feels unlikely. Another even more unlikely thought is a Forbidden Forest set across multiple baseplates with PS Hagrids Hut, lots of good tree builds and landscaping with unicorn clearing, Aragog's lair, customary Ford Anglia, Voldemort, Firenze, Fang, etc. I'm sure a lot of non-HP fans with big budgets would like a substantial "forest battle pack" to add foliage to MOCs. Otherwise I agree with others that a Titanic-style Hogwarts Express is possible although really wouldn't interest me - I'd prefer a full Kings Cross station and track to Hogsmeade station at minifig scale. Completely unrelated, I saw the pink hair leak for the first time today and it has to be for Tonks. Even if it's going to be used elsewhere - there's no way the perfect Tonks hairpiece is made by chance. Grimmauld Place looking a likely candidate for the $120 set.

You're right, but they're both a lot more "furry cylinder" in shape than the current cat piece and two new moulds seems very unlikely!

    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

Bit late to the party! Such an exciting time of the year when the set details come out for the first time. My thoughts on the sets are below. Generally I think it's clear that LEGO is being more flexible with sets not sticking so tightly to specific scenes (e.g. Luna/Sinistra in the CoS set last year, unnamed characters and Quibbler in upcoming PS-based trunk set). 76400 Hogwarts carriage with Thestrals, 121 parts, 20 eur Sounds fun! As with the general theme, the carriage and baby thestral don't share any scenes. I think this will be mostly based on Luna's first appearance hence the carriage and reprint of the Quibbler for this year. The baby thestral will be a cute addition and effective selling point! 76401 Hogwarts: Sirius' Rescue, 345 parts, 50 eur A remake of a set I really liked in 2004. Nothing too new here but I'm excited to see the courtyard build which I expect to be two thirds of the width of the set based on the two arches referenced by Promobricks. The tower will likely be a taller 8x8 build with a prison and maybe a fat lady portrait due to Ginny's inclusion which again is from a separate scene. Hopefully Ginny gets short legs as she is a second year but I sadly doubt it. Fountain sounds like a nice extra. 76402 Hogwarts: Dumbledore's office, 654 parts, 80 eur I loved this oversized set in 2002 and nice to get a 20th anniversary remake (new gold fig unlikely). Definitely heavily OotP themed based on minifigs. McGonagall in black robes or a night gown would be nice, Snape will likely be the current version, Dumbledore will be interesting as it's been a while since a blue robe version, Filch with boils would be great, Mrs Norris is really fun especially if we get a new mould that is reused for Crookshanks. Excited to see all the details although it feels like we've had most interesting bits already (sword, phoenix, pensieve, sorting hat). 76403 Ministry of magic, 990 parts, 100 eur By far the set I'm most excited about. I personally love building the world of Harry Potter without specific events/battles taking place so like the sound of the focus being on the Ministry itself. The hall of prophecies, Arthur Weasley, golden statue all point to this being OotP based so I think the dementors may actually be hooded death eaters (hopefully named e.g. Dolohov, Rookwood). It's great that the emphasis is on the atrium and I can't wait to see pics. 76406 Hungarian Horntail, 671 parts, 50 eur Far more excited by this than Fawkes/Hedwig. Hopefully it scales well with minifigs and it would be cool if the base is a rocky outcrop with golden egg. The style of the new brick built T-Rex would be ideal. 76407 Shrieking Shack, 777 parts, 90 eur Another welcome remake. Potential for some relatively boring remakes of figures (all 5 Sirius versions so far are PoA...) but a werewolf Lupin and grim would be lovely. Overall thoughts Not expecting too much from the Hogwarts builds after last year but very excited about the details. I love the leaning to the under-represented OotP scenes and don't mind the GoF absence as this has been well covered. However I'd guess the 120 eur set is the second task. Would have been nice to get more brand new figs like we did last year but I'm sure we'll get some great new versions and maybe a surprise or two in the pipeline.

New accessory pack coming in Spring/Summer according to instagram. Not sure what we can expect, Quidditch players is the obvious one. I wouldn’t mind something similar to the original one with new characters in robes from each house eg Ernie MacMillan, Pansy Parkinson, Penelope Clearwater and Harry. The budget for these is so low that I’m not sure I’d want more interesting characters like OotP members or death eaters.

Really like the hospital wing set, think it's great inside and out. I'm a broken record but the Hermione face is the only issue for me, love that we're getting the tattered outfits and the little details are great. DADA class is cool, not much new vs the leaks except for the confirmation of Barty Crouch Jr and a better look at the stickers. Also not much new in the Divination book - don't really like the brighter colours of this one but there are some nice details.

Clearer leaks on Instagram of new moments and Hospital wing sets. The Moody figure looks great and it’s a trans 1x1 print for the time turner. Gutted that we’re still getting the far inferior Hermione face from before CMF series 2 as I personally don’t like making changes to figures if I can help it. Definitely looks like a heart-shaped stopper in one of the vials and I think the Madam Pomfrey face could be new but not sure. There’s also a much clearer view of the Moody microfigure and the inside of the DADA book which shows a dark mark print. Parvati has a new face print too without a bindi which is a nice plus - certainly more accurate than Harry’s hair!

    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

It's an exciting set list! My predictions are below, trying to be realistic. I think we'll likely get some remakes of retiring sets, a general PoA/GoF theme (already evidenced by the winter wave) and a similar split of minifig/non-minifig scale sets as last year. 76400 for $ 19.99 - Lupin's classroom with Boggart wardrobe76401 for $ 49.99 - PS/CoS Hagrid's hut with Fang and Norbert76402 for $ 79.99 - Shrieking Shack to similar scale as Hogsmeade set with werewolf Lupin76403 for $ 99.99 - Second task viewing area and lake scene with Merperson, Rita Skeeter and Karkaroff76404 for $ 44.99 - 2022 Advent Calendar with a PoA Hogsmeade theme which will tie up with the Shrieking Shack 76405 for $ 469.99 - D2C Diagon Alley part II - Can't really think of anything more realistic at this price point. Expect this to be minifig scale thankfully as the last D2C wasn't, and therefore not Hogwarts related (as the overlap with usual sets seems unlikely). Ministry of Magic and second task including Durmstrang ship seem the only other locations that could justify this price point. Neither seem as likely to me as Diagon Alley. It's interesting to think what this price point would entail for Diagon Alley. Personally I'm not fussed about including the DH scenes or dragon - I'd rather display a normal Diagon Alley without an ugly (imo) dragon on top of Gringotts. Price doesn't seem quite high enough to get the whole other side of the Alley plus Gringotts but it would be nice to get some other buildings too - Leaky Cauldron obviously at the top of the list with lots of other great options remaining. I could also see another Diagon Alley set without Gringotts (to follow in a later wave) with the other side of the alley and the Leaky Cauldron entrance 76406 for $ 49.99 - Buildable Buckbeak with flapping wings76407 for $ 89.99 - Buildable Quidditch equipment/accessories76408 for $ 119.99 - Ron and Dumbledore - as others have mentioned this seems sensible and at the right price point

It's a fantastic Percy, hair is a good choice to represent the curls, torso print is great and cool to get a new faceprint - although I think the expression is the weakest part for me. I made the below list some time early this year with the most prominent omitted minifigures based on screentime and mentions in the books, nice to see that some of the holes are being filled including Percy who was by far the most significant character in the books without a minifig. I've marked the new figs in green, still plenty left for future sets or, if we're lucky, the full CMF budget! From this pic I think they might be continuing to use the old Hermione face and not the CMF series 2 upgrade which is a real shame - I know it's an easy fix as with Harry's hair in the Divination moments set but I normally really appreciate the consistency between sets.https://www.hothbricks.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/lego-harry-potter-76398-mars-2022.jpg
