Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
Lord Butters replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Looking over older sets we seem to be missing in recent times: naval units forests/hideouts/mountain areas a second castle/fortress A wave like Kingdoms but with the above added would be great, with a big set like MMV added at the end. -
The Dragon catapult works really well and would be wasted as a battering ram. However, building a ram based on a similar design would look cool.

A Heroic Knight minifig, and I managed to get 7571 on the cheap.

I would argue Manning isn't historically bad vs the Pats. He's been unlucky in many games (this season's game being a typical example), often losing because of his defence not him. I can think of one bad game he has had, and a couple below par. His teams have just never been as good as the Pats until he joined the Broncos.

I do think the first wave of Kingdoms were more complex builds. Similar builds, yes. But the sets generally looked better because of the style of build. In addition the Dragon Knights in Kingdoms just happen to have a very unique look, which worked very well. Combine that with the unpopular Lion Kinghts of this series (undeserved imo, as I think they are an improvement over the blue Crownies colour scheme), and add a bit of internet rage, the second wave that you mention, and you suddenly have a huge swing of favour.

Book II: Challenge 1: Category B: The Ancient Toll Towers
Lord Butters replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
The plant is a great idea. I also really like the uneven base. I think it adds to the general feel of the terrain that a clean, straight-edged base would not. I also enjoy the small detailings around the tower, such as the loose bricks and thin, brown trim. I don't recognise the half orc bodies. Are they PotC pieces? -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Lord Butters replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I looked at Bricklink, but a lot of the sets don't seem to be available at good prices in the UK and Ireland. There are great deals in the US, but nobody seems to be willing to tell you how much postage will cost until after you have purchased. However, the individual bricks do seem to be better priced like you say. -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Lord Butters replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I wasn't sure if I have put this in the right thread, but as it relates to Kaliphlin I have put the question here. Having looked at the MOCs made by various Guild members, I would like to have a go at making some MOCs based around a desert port, like what you would see in Kaliphlin - The University MOCs in particular sayed me in this direction. Not having a PAB store in my country, I'm not sure how to go about acquiring the parts necessary for building in the Kaliphlin style. How do Kaliphlin Members generally get their bricks? Prince of Persia sets seem to be in the right style and colour range, but I can't help but feel purchasing masses of bricks off ebay might be a cheaper method, albeit more time consuming. -
Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
Lord Butters replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A Knights vs Forest Men/Bandits era could do well, especially with the wider range of colours and bricks available that did not exist during the late 80s and early 90s when Forest men and Wolf Pack were in their pomp. -
I've always enjoyed my time with Virgin Atlantic and Flybe. Easyjet have also been hassle free. I would avoid Aer Fungus. Tertible service.

Build up my collection of bricks so I can start properly MOCing. Make a character and join a Historica Guild.
-
I'm 7-1 also, but I got the Bengals wrong. My picks for next round are New England and Seattle (with NE winning the Superbowl).
-
I saw a lot of low prices for sets in the States, however Im not entirely sure how much they would want for shipping to the UK, which is the advantage of eBay. Has anyone ever shipped a big set from US before?
-
On average, is Bricklink cheaper than eBay to buy Lego? I saw the entire Prince of Persia collection go for just over £100, but generally sales like that seem to be rare on eBay.

I'm hoping Peyton gets another ring too. He is the best QB of his generation, but most people tend to only consider rings in GOAT debates. I reckon they will lose to the Pats though. Pats have the best coach, and they always get lucky when they need it.

I love this tower. The gray with hints of red makes it feel desolate.

Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here

I agree with more civilian type buildings. I would also like to see a second castle/fort for the other faction, as opposed to the tower that the current and previous lines received. -
The trap - Classic Castle reunion
Lord Butters replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is really cool. The build reminds me a bit of the duel scene from Disney's The Three Musketeers, wehere they fought at a set of ruins. -
I received and built the Castle. I actually like the colour schemes of the new Castle factions, with the exception of the King's arms, which are necessarily blue. I think what makes them inferior to Kingdoms is the lack of variety in the builds. The castle has a nice front and back tower, but the rest of the build was repetitive to the point, I barely used half the instructions. One of the corners, or the back tower could have at least used roof tiles as opposed to a flat roof with battlements every time. I think little details like this are what made this series look inferior to its predecessor.

Unique Characters in Army Builders
Lord Butters replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Since I was a youngling Ive always preferred grunts over unique characters. This even spread to things like Star Wars figures and RPGs.- 35 replies

The western set had some great features. I liked the guns in particular, as the guns from the Pirates series did not go well with the City series (which did not have guns at the time). The six-shooters and shotguns from the Western series did not look out of place with the City sets.

I like the brickwork around the throne. Something I may have to borrow.

Im still awaiting the arrival of my 25% off Kings Castle. Im also tempted to purchase my first LOTR/Hobbit set and buy Lake Town.

That is beautiful. I hope very soon that I'll begin my MOC based on a travelling trader. If it's half as good as this I'll be delighted.
