Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Jedd the Jedi replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, minifigures are usually what bump the prices of sets way up. The Slave I set you're referring to was actually priced okay back in the day, but think about it - it's been almost ten years, and those figs haven't popped up in any other sets. I think the LEGO group is starting to realise this now, with a bit more of an emphasis on figures and that's probably part of the whole rehash debacle. The Star Wars license does, to a degree, deserve to command the license fee it does - but I just don't like when this automatically translates to other new, unproven licenses asking similar prices, like the Prince of Persia sets that now are on clearance everywhere. -
A huge improvement over your previous version, I think it really helped that you decided to do your own thing instead of trying to emulate the official Batcave set as closely as possible. I'm glad you found the dinosaur, that's the same one I use for my Batcave. The giant penny and the animatronic dinosaur are some of those classic trophies, and there are several backstories as to each. I much prefer the whole thing put together than when its split into its modules. If I may be so bold, I did a version of the Batcave sometime back here. It's a mod of the official set and I will admit owning it is a huge advantage, but maybe there are individual areas that you want to borrow some elements from.

Thank you, Brick Pig! I'm a big fan of crossover comics too! I think you make great photos, but the captions need some work. Just "Leia, how could you!" without needing her response, or maybe "I can explain", or "Turns out I'm not the only one with a twin", something along those lines. Less is more! Still, good work, and welcome!

Just like with the Millennium Falcon, I've tried to approximate the new, soon-to-be-released version of the set by modifying the existing one I have. I made the nose longer and tried to make the cockpit look less blocky using the quadrant plates - the main thing I haven't "fixed" are the wings, mostly because I can't think of much use for the pieces other than as...wings on a Sith Infiltrator. Bit of a bump:

^^ Oh man, that's good! Poor Chewie, always taking the blame...

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments - I really appreciate having the experts weigh in! The spherical cockpit has to be one of the toughest things to get right on this craft, when you look back at LEGO's first official version of this craft in 1999, they really looked stumped. I'm not sure if I want to ditch the printed TIE Fighter cockpit piece; that's kind of my security blanket. But, all good things to note for Phase IV, though that may wait - I do want to build some new sets that just arrived, including the 2010 Slave I, the Clone Turbo Tank and the Endor Battle set. I'm thinking of turning the 6209 Slave I that I own into Jango Fett's version by swapping out some pieces for blue and green ones.

[MOC] Imperial Speeder Bike - Bionicle Style!
Jedd the Jedi replied to George G.'s topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is great! I'm not a Bionicle fan in the least, but it's a really original concept and one that you've executed pretty well - I didn't expect there to be an actual "Scout" riding the bike, so extra points for making one! The front bit, with the handles and all, can't help but remind me a bit of a chopper bike more than a speeder bike - but hey, no matter! Good work. -
Hmm Cloney, you're right. I did realise that after seeing the bit o blue in-between his legs - it just seemed like the figure was posed for the joke, I think it was the bisected Darth Maul that sold that effect.
-
Sok117, really good one! I like that even though you don't have the figs, a little work in Photoshop ensured the joke came out just fine. Oky, hilarious work as usual - the CIS cannon being afraid of the mouse is made that much more funny by the battle droid flailing in his seat. You have a knack for posing the minifigs such that they really sell the joke - as with the Savage Oppress one too. Darn you for getting early access to all the cool figures!
-
Here's the Death Watch joke I was talking about And from the Clone Troopers' Battle Pack, a joke that actually makes fun of another joke that's been done several times.
-
CallMePie, thank you! I was wondering if another caption would've worked better. DobbyClone, *bows*. I'm very honoured - but I'll jump right out to say I really like a lot of the funnies here, done by everyone really. I think I latch onto some of the niche nerdy things, and sometimes they work as jokes. Thank you!
-
Legonater, I have an idea for a similar Death Watch joke, but I'm going ahead to do it anyway - especially since I just received my Mandolorian and Clone Trooper battle packs, along with several other sets ordered from Amazon two months ago! Thanks Uncle Guy for lugging them home. Oky, right with you on that one - a monkey indeed! Hahahhaha

I decided to cobble together several minifigures to fill out Gotham City a little, especially its police force. These are all "purist" customs made using official LEGO parts, though I have been experimenting with sculpting and repainting some elements for other custom figs. Commissioner Gordon A criminal mole, pretending to be a policeman Biker policeman Group shot!
-
Hey, I really appreciate it everyone! I'm glad you found that one funny. Here's the next, a good old-fashioned "Clone Wars minifigs are ugly" joke
-
First of three in the "gorilla" series, featuring everyone's favourite collectable minifig (or just the mask)
-
Oky, your newest three really are upping the game! I love how polished they look, and the Vader's nightmare one is a downright ingenious idea - I'm sure he does get bothered by that thought on ocassion.
-
A stunning piece - well thought through, it seems like you spent years planning out how it would look and how to build it, such that it actually surpasses your average official, LEGO Group-released set. Very very well done, and the custom Troopers are the perfect complement for this MOC.
-
I agree with lightningtiger, this is a very good model and honestly I can't find anything wrong with it, really. I have very fond memories of the official Tusken Raider encounter set - I think I was allowed to open it if I spoke nothing but Mandarin Chinese for a week or maybe two, and I did. I was so proud of myself. And I'll also agree with lightningtiger that I shall leave the technical details and the specifics to the man with the Ph.D in brickology

Revenge of the Groaners: Was able to snag a Toy Story army man figure in Japan
-
Really great work Oky, "Bring your Padawan to Work Day" is a good concept, but the second one was utterly hilarious. The whole dynamism in the pose really brings out the humour.
-
Hey, well done everyone - Luxor, the Sand People/mummies crossover is quite inspired. I'm back from my short family vacation, and am armed with new stuff and a renewed lack of comprehension of Clone Wars jokes.
-
WhiteFang, thanks for moving this to the right forum! I was not sure which one to put it in.
-
Alright, I'm back from the trip - I had a great time, but I think, maybe, Samurai-san enjoyed himself even more than I did.

This is pretty cute, it reminds me of the Christmas truce during World War I where both sides put down the guns and played football. I like the studs-not-on-top work, but as already mentioned better photos would do a great deal of good.
