What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Jedd the Jedi replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
For me, it was the Ultimate Lightsaber Battle. You'd think that one of the biggest, most epic scenes in the movie and indeed in the prequel trilogy would warrant an awesome set, but we got a very half-hearted attempt with a silly, completely non-functioning play feature, only two minifigures (that were light-up lightsaber ones to boot) and the set was barely an accurate recreation of the scene. It was a complete waste and I felt really cheated, because I was 12 then and bought the set with my own money, I was looking forward to enjoying it and it certainly seemed cool for about thirty minutes. Eugh. -
Discontinued and ongoing licensed themes?
Jedd the Jedi replied to Dorayaki's topic in LEGO Licensed
The discontinuation of the Indiana Jones theme as well made me a little upset, there was still a good amount of life left yet in that franchise. There were several iconic scenes from the series made, such as the temple at the beginning of raiders, the titular Temple of Doom and the Akator temple in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I would have loved more sets from Last Crusade. For example, the catacombs in Venice would have made a great medium-sized set similar to the graveyard from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull line. A train car playset from the beginning of the film with young Indy's earlier adventure would have been a lot of fun, and of course the Grail chamber with a cool Grail knight minifigure. -
That convertible Bat-pod is crazy cool, it's amazing how you were able to fold it into the model, make it a two-seater and keep everything in scale at the same time. Very impressive! Only thing is the front wheels are a little wonky; may need some straightening.

There are some LEGO stores that have augmented reality "digital box" displays, where the front of the set box can be scanned and a video screen will show a 3D mockup of the set in action floating on top of the box. This photo is from the Glendale shop in California.

[MOC] ROTJ C-3PO & R2-D2 approach Jabba's Palace
Jedd the Jedi replied to vlai23's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Works very well, and the construction of the terrain is subtle and perfect. -
Looks brilliant Oky - I've always liked the look of Jango's blasters and you've captured them very well. I'm a fan of life-sized LEGO prop replicas, just to see how accurate they can get. You've displayed a number of interesting building solutions here - nice!

I did a similar one some time ago, with the older LEGO dinosaurs. The best part is the carrot he's dangling in front of the Triceratops.
-
Very nice work! I really like the architecture, especially the roof and walls. The best part for me is that you've depicted the Arkham in the middle of a breakout/takeover, and the action is staged very well. The van tipped over is a great touch.

Single Pane LEGO Licensed Theme Funnies
Jedd the Jedi replied to Gregorovich's topic in LEGO Licensed
Brilliant funnies once again, Oky! The Iron Chef one is really good, but I like the amnesia one mainly for Wolverine's befuddled expression. -
"Blast! This is why I hate flying! I mean I really, really, really hate flying." Great build, and sticking Obi-Wan's head on there is hilarious. The best part is his expression is kinda appropriate for the situation. I also like the missile with the trail coming out the back.

LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
Jedd the Jedi replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
I much prefer the look of the Batman cowl from the Batwing set. The original cowl was too bulky, especially in the ears. -
Oky, I would not want to infringe on your spotlight. To your 180 quality funnies, I have about 2. I like the spray paint one. K-nut, I was thinking of Curse of the Black Pearl when I made that one too! Thanks.

Hey, thanks everyone. I just wanted to try a new hammer pun, is all. Here're the droid escape funnies!

Yeah, "january jagoffs" was not me. It's supposed to say A-p-r-i-l F-o-o-l's Day. And where's the edit button?
-
No! Legocrazy, you have uncovered my secret plan... Oky, many thanks for putting my funny on the blog, and I was thinking of doing something similar to the Endor one. Love the Death Star one! Here are some new ones: Coming soon: Droid Escape funnies! Thanks, and enjoy your january jagoff's Day!

Hi all - back from a vacation in the States, where I got some of the new sets. These three are all from the Geonosian Cannon set. Enjoy, and thanks!

It's a great build, the Jawas look great and the homestead and moisture vaporator are just about perfect. However, the only thing going through my mind was, "Threepio is a naked guy!"

The Alfred one is really good! I just love crossovers and actor references. -
Wanderin Watto's... with Jar Jar!
Jedd the Jedi replied to Parrothead Rasmus's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I love little vignettes and this one is no exception. Great work capturing the organised mess of Watto's shop, and I love how Jar Jar is whimsically looking for trouble in the center of it all. Hopefully you'll be able to come by a podracer set or a Watto keychain to add the proprietor himself to the scene. -
Another legend has left us - RIP. Without Ralph MacQuarrie, Star Wars would've looked very different, and probably wouldn't even have been made as his drawings were crucial to getting it off the ground. It's a good thing we have his wonderful work to remember him bye. Sniff.

D'awww! So cute. Well done to your son, some of the bases are fairly sophisticated!
-
Thank you Legocrazy81. Here's another Tatooine-set groaner.
-
Thank you Oky, those elephants are from the Orient Expedition sets. And Fallenangel, not being a Gundam fan I was not aware of that character, but it's an amusing coincidence nonetheless. Continuining with the sand people theme

I love how Anakin adds "also, I'm your father", just by the way.

He kind of does look like WALL-E! Coincidentally, I have a Pixar-related funny too.
