I noticed that.. I don't have a lot to say about other topics. I spend most of my time on this forum reading.. not posting.

    REVIEW: 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge

Excellent review. However, for myself.. I think I can honestly say the only reason I'd buy this ship is for the pieces. The sails look cool but as far as construction is concerned I don't like anything above the gunwale and the interior is of lower design quality.

No G36 body is metal, on account of the real one being composite (like the SCAR's lower, P90, FN2000, etc.). The G36 is the only airsoft gun I've seen made with a nylon or fibre body. Consequently ARES and CA (both glass-reinforced fibre or nylon composite) have the best G36 bodies. WAY more sturdy than ABS, far stronger too. Like you said though most are ABS. I'm not a fan of ABS bodies, especially for bigger guns. The amount of flex in something like a TM G3-SG1 is nuts.

I love my 2 G36's. My only complaint about them is the large mags. V3 mechbox > V2 in every way.. and the gun is easy to work on. Only issue I've seen with the '36's is that there really are only 2 or 3 companies that make a decent body (ARES [formerly STAR], Classic Army, and maybe SRC Gen III. not sure if their bodies are ABS or nylon).

That works. I didn't use my MP5 much and ended up selling it, but it was great for quick, mobile games. I have my P90 for that type of play but I miss the MP5 mags. P90 mags are a pain. What kind of holster do you use for the eagle? I need to get one for my USP but haven't found a decent type yet.

Airsoft -like any hobby- is a money pit. You keep thinking "Ok, I have enough kit. No more." Then something cool comes along. 3 of my guns I haven't even fielded lol.

    pirate game?

I started developing the framework for a more tactical pirate game that focuses more on crew management and properly manning your ship, as well as close quarters combat for boarding operations. I wanted to model damage to ships somewhat more detailed than ESPG, remove most of the RPG aspects from it, and basically design a tactical game rather than a role play/grand campaign style. More along the lines of a Brickwars game directly focused on the LEGO Pirates theme. I was waiting until I got more pirate ships to do it.. now that I have a few I should re-visit the framework.

Thats good. Not sure if the CYMA (aftermath) MP5 bodies are using a different style. The TM ones were a complete pain.. had to split it in half and all to take the mechbox out. JG makes surprisingly good mechboxes for the cost. Wiring and greasing is a little suspect but hey for $30 hard to complain... considering a CA reinforced mechbox shell alone costs 3 times that.

Lockup isn't a "problem" per se.. it has to do with the design of the mechbox. V1's were really bad for it, and some V2's (what MP5s have) are pretty bad as well. To unjam it you need to pull the mechbox out away from the motor and use needle-nose pliers to pull up the anti-reversal latch. That will allow the mechbox to unwind, and thus unjam. Unfortunately MP5s are a complete pain to disassemble with plastic bodies. You can avoid lockups 2 ways: 1) Use a good, powerful battery. A large battery of 3,000 Mah or a small of no less than 1,500 Mah, made by a reputable brand. Batteries that come with Chinese airsoft guns are complete garbage. 2) ALWAYS, when firing in semi, do COMPLETE trigger pulls. One of the leader causes of mechbox lockup is people doing incomplete pulls. This causes power to be cut from the motor before the mechbox is finished cycling. A new spring probably wouldn't hurt either. Aftermath guns are stupid overpowered for their components. You shouldn't be running anything more than an MS110SP (about 360 FPS) in a stock gun.

I have a decent collection. AEGs: -Classic Army G36-based SL-9 (CA36 with STAR conversion kit) -Classic Army M4 -ICS L85A2 -JG P90TR -KWA G36C Pistols: KWA USP KJW Para 14.45 GBBR: WE SCAR (Tan) Used to own: Tokyo Marui FA-MAS F1 (one of my favorites, never should have sold it :( ) Tokyo Marui Mk. 23 SOCOM Tokyo Marui-based MP5A4, with gen1 CA metal body AA L85A1 (WORST airsoft gun I have ever owned) Bolt-action L96, though the airsoft one is actually the AWP, not the AIAW I think that covers everything. Used to play a lot back in college. Not so much any more. Other life priorities. Might get back into more gaming this summer. Some pictures (some more current than others)

Which is more seaworthy- Skull Eyes Schooner or Imperial Flagship

IMO SES is the best looking of all the Pirate ships.. simply because of the sails. Even with the hull a little oddly coloured/shaped, the sails look excellent. IFS could do with some actual string rigging and properly stepped masts. As for "seaworthy"-ness (we are talking about flat-bottom LEGO after all!), like was mentioned IFS would be more difficult to maneuver. It is however a much better protected ship. And if you really want to get into technicalities, IFS would be able to support larger -and more- cannon than SES. I think most people peg the LEGO cannons at around 18 pounds (based on cannon size, not shot size). These cannons would be huge on both those ships. More realistic would be 8-12 lbs. guns on IFS, and 4-6 lbs. guns on SES (I'd class the small cannon on the stern castle of SES as 6 pdr. -a more realistic size for a gun-brig). Finally, one or two raking attacks from IFS could wipe out most of the gun crew on SES... whereas IFS's gun crew is protected. However, I love both these sets. IFS is on display on top of one of my book cases. I'm currently trying to find a place for SES.
  14. BSB. BB barley has enough crew to man the ship. Figure at least 2 per gun, 1 for the wheel, and 2 others for rigging. BB seems a little short. Once one or two minifigs get eliminated that ship is toast. Interestingly enough, once I get BB this just gave me a scenario to test in my next brickwars game Equally crewed those ships would be fairly evenly matched. It would really come down to which one could fire more volleys before they close for boarding.

    PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6242 Soldiers Fort

I'm a little late to the party perhaps... Just picked this up today. I can't really agree with the overall ratings from the review. This set I think has a couple of flaws. The biggest is really the complete lack of purpose for 2 of the 3 modules (didn't count the bridge one here). No tables, no chairs, no stove, no ladders to get up the tower (which also seems to have no purpose). Comparing it to "Imperial Outpost" (the only Imperial base I had as a kid) this one seems lacking -especially with the steep price tag. Having said that, with a few additions I think this set is a great start for an MOC or even just for filling out. Making the tower a bit wider and giving it a purpose (and ladders), and expanding the shelter and adding a stove and table or similar would be good. I think this set as it is could serve as an excellent expansion for an existing Imperial base that contains features this one lacks. Overall, not bad, but not great either. 7/10 for me.
