    HMS White Card (Now finished!)

I think white card would be just fine then.

    MOC Darios Millennium Falcon

Looks very good! 3PO seems to feel quite at home.

    Galleon Esperanza

Wow! It looks really amazing. Great embellishments. These ships were indeed as much warships as they were displays of wealth. The choice is colour is really good too. The green lets the gold stand out well. And the sails look fantastic. A good choice to go for an off-white tone, that makes them look properly weathered. All in all really beautiful work.

Does anybody else find it hard to talk about Lego IRL

It really varies. On my side of the family, people don't really get it, while my partner and family are quite into Lego (maaaaybe not quite as much as myself!) - so that's an acceptable situation. And last christmas we actually got a lego set from our friends. Really a nice and quite unexpected move too. All in all though I don't really talk much about lego myself. When we have a visitor, the topic inevitably comes up though (there is a lot of lego in the lounge). I also stopped feeling odd when buying lego at the stores. I didn't got asked yet, if its for me. I rather get the impression that most shop assistants don't really pay attention to what runs over the counter. I probably could put a severed head on the belt and they would probably just ask me if I want a bag.

Looks good and gives a nice summer-feeling. Are there pictures from the interior as well?

    [MOD] Lego 31079 Camper

Looks good! I like the camper van a lot too (it is actually owned by my minifig avatar!). Its such a cute design and you really kept its spirit. Well done!

    HMS White Card (Now finished!)

Great looking ship! It has a really nice shaping and the colours work well together. Speaking of colours, what about 'Carte Blanche' (literally 'white card'), meaning 'free hand'? I think it would work quite well with its appearance and the fact that its build from scratch, so basically on a white sheet of paper.

LEGO could use Playmobil for inspiration!

I just remembered Professor Mobilux, a character Playmobil invented in the 80s. I don't know how popular the series was, but the audio plays, involving time-travel through the different play-themes, were quite quirky and enjoyable. It would be nice if they would theme the film in that spirit. In general though it appears the interest in such movies is limited, as TLG has found out.

LEGO could use Playmobil for inspiration!

@TeriXeri Yes indeed. Certainly not official and likely not very healthy to the plastic...

LEGO could use Playmobil for inspiration!

@Aanchir Oh, I didn't know about that theme, but I have seen pictures of a Playmobil SWAT-team. That stuff is definitely on the uncanny side of realism. @TeriXeri I admit it has been a while (90s *cough*), but when I was last playing with playmobil, you could change the hair pieces at least. It was probably not really meant to be replaced regularly, like in lego, but it was possible^^

@kurigan: I don't think anyone proposed lego completely abandoning conflict in sets. It just doesn't needs to be everywhere. There are a lot shades between extremes.

bag of Lego bricks, good price?

It seems he got you hooked In my experience prices really vary. Especially when buying them used at a flea market/garage/car boot sale. I am not completely happy with the bags, to be honest. It appears some pieces are pretty yellowed. And the selection is indeed a bit random. If you don't mind the sorting and probably cleaning (and getting really random bits and pieces^^), you should be able to find bulk lego cheaper. Especially when its older stuff that was sleeping in someone's attic or basement for more than a decade.

LEGO could use Playmobil for inspiration!

Oh yes! These are lovely sets. I'm really taken by the realism playmobil tried to achieve and it is quite Ironic that the more versatile toy-system of them two quite often is the one which has less versatile sets. Then again, TLG seems to be very successful with what they are doing.

I feel like Eurobricks is something of an old boys club

Ah, well. This is a tricky situation. Firstly, I would say that there are indeed ways to get lego to affordable prices. Often sets are quite substantially reduced and car boot sales or ebay can be even cheaper. You might not have much influence on what you get, but that can boost creativity. So... Its not impossible to get genuine lego for cheap. Secondly, renders need just as much careful lighting and working on the angles etc, as high quality photos and the really well made ones are simply beautiful. It is a skill to aquire to make your build look good and a bit of a rocky process probably, but attainable. Both, well made digital and real-life pictures deserve respect and attention. Though, a brick-build 50,000 piece set is perceived as more spectacular and noteworthy, than the same thing as a render. I guess its part of human nature to tend towards superlatives in this regard. We can like it or not, but we can't change it. Its not an ideal world, we live in. What can be changed is the presentation though. Digital models can be featured more frequently and tne builders can add up their game when it comes to presentation. Another angle on the issue is: does it have to be a big, impressive build? I find smaller builds usually much more creative than big ones. So much has to be cleverly approximated, where on a big model often just uses a ton of greebling, without being much inventive at all. Small models are about catching the essence of an object (or place or character) and often leave me with astonishment which clever solutions the builder has come up with. So, if you can't compete with funds, maybe you just change the playing field.

Neo Classic Moon base MOC- WIP

Looks like a good start. I am right now tinkering a bit with classic space as well. Here are some of my thoughts: Maybe you add some classic space crater and landing pad plates. Maybe a monorail too, if possible. And generally speaking, the more antennas and futuristic structures are added, the merrier. It is good practice to not worry too much about technical accuracy or believability. Its the depiction of futuristic technology, so all bets are off, what materials and devices are used. Feel free to go crazy with strucures! I found the video sadly a bit too long for the relatively small amount of stuff to see. Maybe a more brief rundown of the base, with the longer video as optional in-depth material. Attention spans on YT are short...

    MOC Darios Millennium Falcon

Good choice for a project. The Falcon looks really good. Nice angle on that first picture, too. Very scenic. I can almost hear its engine humming.

    Hi hello from Spain

Hello Rosci! Welcome to Eurobricks from me as well. Your video is so charming. It just radiates happiness! I can imagine it was quite a tedious process (as stop-motion is!), but the video itself won't betray that.
  18. The cars look great. Sleek and well proportioned. The delorean, for example is just spot on. Easily the best version of that car I have ever seen.. And that showroom: just brilliant!
  19. Fun idea and looks really well! TLG actually did something quite similar in the early 80s with its classic space theme. Good stuff and certainly something bold and unusual. Sadly I can't get myself to do something like that with my own collection yet.

How do you protect your Lego box?

No, since I don't really mind the boxes, I usually open them as quickly as possible . But its worth a try, I guess. Experiment! The ABS plastic inside is pretty heat resistant (within reason).

How do you protect your Lego box?

If you want to store your boxes - I gave up on that . They take up a lot of space and don't really have any sentimental value to me. I build the sets and if I am happy with them, I keep them assembled and store some of them in large plastic tubs, never in their boxes. But if you have the space, store them in a dark and dry place. A wardrobe, for example. As for the opening, I would go for sliding a thin blade into the gaps on the sides to make a clean cut instead of breaking the cardboard with the conventional method. Large sets, that are taped are, of course, quite simple to open anyway.

[MOC] The Ring of the Nibelung

Ooh! That's brilliant! I love Wagner's Ring, even if its one of the more challenging works to listen through, to say the least . The characters and landscaping is very well done. Not a bad start into MOC-making! Now I'd love to see some of the bad guys as well. Maybe Hagen, King Gunther, Hunding and Alberich.

    Temple of Afe'aa

Looks great! Additionally to the mosaic floor, which fits simply perfectly to the oriental theme of your build, the facade is also very well done with really good decorative ideas.

    [MOC] BTL-S3-ish Y-Wing x 2

Very impressive builds. I really like the rounded shaping of the cockpit section. Not an easy thing to pull off, yet it looks really neat and clean. Above all, the level of detailing is very impressive. You can really get lost in discovering all the greebling. Superb! I also like the Y-Wing quite a lot. To me they were like musclecars from the 70s. Heavy and not really light on their feet but rock solid and very powerful. I also like that the Y-wings as we know them from the movies were meant to be "hotrodded" versions of the original model. With exposed bodywork and field-modification. It definitely has character. A bit brutish, but its character.
