  1. That's a tough one. I have the 42053 and it's nice, relatively nice functioning with a motor to take over the pump function. It is flimsy but for the price it gets the job done. For the 42055, I've had minor interest in this and starting to pick up due to the parts and possibilities from them. The set though is double the price but also 3.5x more pieces. It's also new like the volvo so if you get on one now and one later it's not going to disappear over night. That being said do you want pneumatics or power functions?
  2. After seeing it in the shop yeah it is quiet small at least compared to the Arocs which it was sitting next to.
  3. Oh boy great idea's all around. Really eager to dig into this more this weekend. Since I'm enjoying my model so much I'm also building it on LDD with all the tweaks I'm implementing as I go along. One of the first mod's I've done to any of my models and this seems to be well worth it in the end.
  4. I'd concur with that. Its actually a step I stopped at looked at steps ahead and played with it a bit to make sure there was no issue with it last night. There is no rub interference on it at all.
  5. Oooh got lucky was gun shy yesterday at pulling the trigger but got to the store with the last box left today at lunch. Proud owner of the Porsche. Looking forward assembly/modifications to this. Thanks for the Review Jim and Thanks to everyone so far with the minor, yet major, modifications that make it more function able.
  6. People are going to click it because no one is describing whats going on.... Some new subscription channel with not many views put it up to hopefully make some $$$ by destroying things. Course so happens this is their first video. The link is the speed build of the model followed by destruction by axe, sledge hammer, and even cutters. There is a quick video on their channel that just shows the destruction of the vehicle. Such a shame but you'd be suprised how many people will watch this for like destroy an Xbox, Playstation, iPhone, iPad, etc. Reason why people watch it and they get into the millions of views per video = some cash.
  7. All these fixes, makes me consider buying it now. Saw it at the store today and just couldn't pull the trigger. Might now if I go back. Question is if TLG decides to fix these errors will they send out parts to the people that already own the set or the pioneers of the sets out of luck and just have to rummage their existing inventory?
  8. Actually that is very accurate showing of how it separates materials. You really won't find a live video showing it because its too hard to get a camera in the enclosure since its all sealed.
  9. Maybe they wanted technical feedback before sending more units out? Or maybe they are working on a nicer solution and will drop the news later.
  10. Trying to remember been a few years. My only guess is using axle rods to keep the larger pieces out and having smaller ones fall through, but you'd have to have them turning or moving some how constantly to make sure there is product flow. The large material would get pushed through to a crusher and spit out the left side, smaller material would fall through and go out the right side. This way you get a little extra through put on the machine within the same footprint. Could easily see a MOC with a bin on one side that conveys up and dumps into another bin to be crushed and comes out on another conveyor to be transported off to processing. Another unit that is also out there in the field.
  11. Some people are not to bright when it comes to math and all the hidden fee's.
  12. Oh sweet! Great job. Looking forward to the LDD hopefully in the near future. Something I defiantly want to start looking into in the near future is playing around like this with sets. Just need a few more to be more to get a decent set of pieces :)
  13. I really like the look of the B-Model as well. Considering that I was part of a design team at a company that was making something very similar to that. Might be a better buy than the Porsche.
  14. Great review here Jim. I was all out about to get this ASAP... though now I'm a little torn might wait a wee bit for this one and come back to it a little later. I'm sure that people will come up with good MOC's and MOD's and will push me to get it in the end as I want to expand my collection and I do enjoy cars.
  15. OOOh nice. Having it black or something similar would of been nice, but after seeing it in orange its growing on me. Looking forward to this... probably later in the year though but still will be looking forward to it.
  16. Oh boy this sounds dangerous :) I like. Funny thing is a while back went off to college, didn't want to bring my Lego's at the time because of space reasons. So I tried RC cars and building those. While fun once it was build I lost interest. Though something like this, now this looks like something I could get into. RC with Lego's = Win.
  17. I have both the Arocs and Unimog. That being said the Arocs seems has more functionality to it. More complex and overall nicer build IMO. Though having both side by side, who am I to say not to have both of them :)
  18. Another set I'd recommend is 42039. There is lots of C Models for this set. Though 42042 looks really nice and I might consider that myself in the near future, but haven't followed it much so far. Just jumped back in recently so warming back up. Got to say though the 42043 is great. About 30min left to assemble the last bit of it. Very exciting build IMO and well worth the money for the parts you get with it. Also picking up 42030 tonight on my way home, finally arrived at the store. Are you looking at any RC capabilities?
  19. Nicely done. Actually was looking at MOC's of this set and was thinking of making an Airboat would be perfect with the pieces in the set just this weekend.
  20. Got a little further on my 42043 build tonight and just tried the battery box out. I do have to say it's much improved over the old one. Good spotting! Here and I figured the old boxes I have where just unlucky.
  21. Well got the 42043 (Arcos) sitting in my trunk Can't wait to start building it then tweaking it after I have a little fun with the original build. As for the 42030... yeah probably will buy it online today. Really want some RC functions to have fun with it and the kids which looks like a blast with that vehicle. Edit/Update: Its nice having a target distribution center in my town. Local store should receive my new set (42030) within a few hours so I can potentially pick it up on the way home. Niiiice. Better than a week and a half I was getting. If there was an option I'd save them the handling and pick it up from the warehouse myself. So now I got 2 sets to start playing with this weekend.
  22. Going to my local LEGO store today at lunch... I know they have the 42043 in stock, not sure on the 42030 and I'll make a call there. I might break down and get both at this point. Happy weekend ahead! :)
  23. Since I just re-started to looking into doing this... my work space consists of basement floor (desk/table if clean down there) and my assortment of blocks... well Stuff from my childhood is in 1x 20 Gallon Bin + 1x 8 Gallon Bin + 1x Cardboard box (like what you'd get a huge stack of computer paper in) New stuff most of its built original sets, so stored in a 1 Gallon plastic container for small parts right now. I need bins, and sorting system like you guys. Guess time to look at and invest :)
  24. Been a few years but started to get back into it thanks to my kids recently. Few years back I bought a bunch of sets started off small 8435 (4WD Technic) and 8436 (Truck Technic) in 2004. Moved up to the 8070 (Supercar) and then 8110 (Unimog 400) with getting some power functions back in 2011. Recently just stepped into the store and got the 42039 (24 Hour Race Car). But got that building itch and after hitting the websites again seeing all these creations here makes me want to do something a little more. Its a tough call for me, I'm eyeing up both the 42030 (Motors + RC Controls) and the 42043 (Better value with more parts and improved features). Both have a great interest for me but I'm sure I can probably get only one.
