Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
darkhorse00 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Love ur illustration. Extraction from promobricks: "Instead of the usual, the LEGO modular corner building is not built at a 90-degree angle, but tapered off. The new hotel is most comparable to the famous Flatiron Building in New York, even if the angle is a little more obtuse. As is so often the case, the new LEGO Modular Building has three floors, with the facade of the ground floor made of nougat-colored bricks, which form arcades on the side facing the street . On the other side of the building, the acute angle creates a free space that is filled by a small, one-story extension. There is an art gallery here. A gray staircase leads from the sidewalk to the roof of the gallery, on which there is apparently a terrace of the hotel. On this roof terrace there is a palm tree, the trunk of which is built from several Crown Eggshell elements. The facade of the first floor of the hotel has a light color and is decorated with additional arcades. There are also two attached red flags. There is no large hotel sign like the one at 10182 Café Corner. The upper floor is covered by the roof, which is built with turquoise stones." -
This is so cute!! A MOC that makes my day!

Sharing my version of vintage police car for the modular police station. Took reference using the 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe Police. As how most modular cars are designed, I keep to the rule that it sits 2 in front, and vehicle is 6 wide. The vintage car also has seat for 1 passenger at rear. Thanks!! Yes. I wish they can re-release these old tires again. They look awesome! Thanks! Yes. I hv always tried to squeeze in 2 minifigures in front of my cars design to go in line with the modular cars design.

2 weeks back, I did a revamp on the Lego Modular Downtown Diner Convertible into a Mini Cooper. Sharing the pictures of the build and the link to the MOD. It sits 2 in front, and is 6 wide, as most modular vehicles do... More pics of the build can be found at: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmTEZhha Free instructions and inventory listing can be found at: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-61048/darkhorse00/pink-mini-mini-cooper/#details Thanks for viewing and have fun building!

Thanks for the likes! I have tried to make use of as many parts as possible from the Lego Diner. Feel free to replace them. I think it works with red as well, given the parts availability.

Beautiful car there! Like the way u make those curves and the front. May I know what software did you use to create your instructions? They look really good too!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Yeah. Bookshop is the first one to describe the modular using only one word. But as what Jamie B always mentioned, each modular always seek to differ and surprise. I agree 'BS' sounds awful. -

Yes. I have been thinking of the name as well. Can't be Police Centre too, as there is a PC (Palace Cinema). We do have the Detective Office, so Police Office may not be used? How about Police Headquarters? -

I thought I am the only who feels that the staircase is blocked on the bookshop. If you look at the bedroom with pet tank, that stairwell will be blocked once you put the red roofing on. It is definitely a flaw to me. -
Not sure if this has been asked before. What are the characteristics of a Modular Building? Was trying to do a MOC of one. 1) It has a 32 studs depth base plate. 2) .. 3) ..

Thanks guys. So based on the reference which you all have share, the characteristics of a Modular Building are: 1) It has a 32 studs depth base plate. 2) Front 1 stud wide curb, followed by tiling 3) 9 studs wide from edge of baseplate to technic brick with pin connector for connecting of modular building. 4) Lamp post 5) More than 1 floor? 6) Front of building (the walkway) are always tiled. Anything else? -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The exterior and the interior looks very good. But not sure if you guys feel the same, I think they might have overdone decorating the interior and exterior at some parts, with 1x1 quarter and half circle tiles. e.g. the green steps on stairs, the blue roof. I am thinking it might save quite a number pieces to be used in elsewhere though. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

There is no Legoland in Singapore but there is a big Lego office in Singapore. If I am not wrong, it acts as the hub for the regional area (not sure the boundary of this region though). My guess is it makes a good strategy to control all advertising materials in the hub to prevent any leaks.... -
Parisan Restaurant was the set that brought me back to Lego. True that, perhaps, we have seen too much, and has used older sets as the benchmark. In any case, there is no good one if there are no average ones. I hope to see a better set (compare to this) next year, else I got a feeling TLG will start to lose fans in this line.

I feel that TLG might have failed this time in getting new buyers into this line with this set. Unlike older modular sets, I don’t think one would be impressed and decide to buy this from the shelf, given that the list of modular choices available. Only existing collectors, like me, will still get it, despite being not impressive.

I think the set is okay. Not bad, but not really good either. Not much of those “wow” factors which a creator EXPERT modular line should have as compare to older sets. “Wow” factors for me from the set: Blue bay windows and triangular layout which I believe the designer has put great thoughts into it. Other wow factor missing from the set includes creative and unexpected building technique for roof, interior is pretty plain. Similar to a normal TH set. 1st storey exterior looks good. The tow truck looks good, but I would prefer to keep to 2 seaters front row style type

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
darkhorse00 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Perhaps the garage wasn’t really a car garage. After releasing a last year modular with a vehicle in it, I doubt they would do one with another vehicle so soon. My guess is it might probably be a music garage or something if that list is true.
