Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
jus1973 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Just an update. They have seen my pictures, and have offered to switch out the entire set, however they can’t guarantee the new model wont be the same. They also noted that the press release photos showed something similar. I think they’ve had a fair few write in about this. Oh well. -

So finally got round to checking mine, and although i didn’t notice it at the time, it’s actually got the same sort of issue, on both sides, and also to a lesser extent, on the roof section too. I’ll get in touch with TLG and see what they say. -
Thèse are fabulous. Congratulations on capturing something so challenging, so well. Massive Kudos for the periodic table. That is staggeringly good.

That’s quite a shocking amount of ´play’ in the moulding of the of the bricks. I’d expect that of a cheap knock off copy, but not real Lego. I’ll check mine too, as it may be a batch based problem. TLG would certainly want to know about it, so get in touch. -

No problem with mine. By slightly, do you mean a manufacturing tolerance, or are you talking about the plate with groove type piece that perhaps hasn’t been placed properly? -

Now that sounds like a real good idea. I’d welcome this as a 48 x 32 modular for the 20th anniversary. -

Possibly true, but the price would come in at over £300, more likely £350, and that might just be a tad too much, lovely though some of those ideas might be. -

Love this idea. A good use of some of the CMF series too. -

Me too, but i managed to grab the moving truck, which I missed last time. I’m guessing it’ll be a January 1st release, probably £190 + purchase price. Just a guess, however. -

I have finished bags 1-7 and don’t have a spare brick, so perhaps check through bag 6s steps and double check. That being said, I have had a spare 1x1, or 1x2 brick in at least 2 of my modulars. Can’t remember which but i think the more recent ones. I only have from the Cinema onwards. I usually expect spare 1x1 tiles, plates, and other small odd parts, from each one of the internal bags. Bricks, however are rarer. I always do a double check of each step if I have one. -

True, but how much is sold through bricks and mortar stores these days. For me it’s only the discounts in supermarkets that I buy in person. In the UK we have a catalogue store called Argos, which usually has decent discounts from time to time too. You don’t see the box until you’ve bought it. -

Well mine arrived today. In an outer box with my GWP, plus the museum in a specific shipping box inside that, labelled not to be shipped, or placed on shelves before 1st December 2023. On a separate note, I’ve unpacked mine, and managed to get the entire contents of the large box, into the smaller internal box. I do wish TLG would look at their box sizes. It’s got to be financially cheaper to ship them in smaller boxes, and less polluting too. -

I’ve had notification that it’s been shipped today, so likely be with me at the weekend, or Monday next week. I’m not arguing with that. -

I’d be fairly annoyed with this. I order a couple of sets a year at least, as gifts for others. Arriving with tape all over the boxes etc is simply unacceptable for that purpose. Also the ‘outer’ boxes we usually get in the UK, offer pretty good protection agains the inevitable knocks and bangs from the back of the delivery van. -

I’m looking to create a MOCd friends botanical gardens sitting along the rear of the museum, and along one side to a depth of 16 studs, making a 64x64 sized block. Not exactly where said block will fit in my town, as space is now limited, but thats the plan. -

So the pictures I’ve seen on a website, and the accompanying text don’t quite match, but I like what I’m seeing. I was quite sceptical about the facade, especially in that green. It has enough going on to break up what could have been quite a slab of bricks. The description with it says 2 48x48 stud plates, but I’m guessing thats wrong. From the image, it looks like a regular 32x32 plus a 16x32. I can see the split on the right hand side, just after the central section. I wonder how much extra space will be left inside for added displays. With it being labelled as Natural History, I’m not sure what the planets etc are doing there. I consider natural history to be more about plants and animals, than the solar system. Perhaps it should be a science museum. Maybe I’m wrong in my thoughts. -
Some nice design touches there, I’m liking the bath, and the beds. They’re really nice. For cameras, perhaps look at these two for Video cameras. They may not be perfect but would offer variety. Also look at the brick built old fashioned camera in Assembly Square as something that could go in the window. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=30148&name=Minifigure, Utensil Camera Movie Style&category=[Minifigure, Utensil]#T=P&C=11 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4360&name=Minifigure, Utensil Camera with Side Sight (Space Gun)&category=[Minifigure, Utensil]#T=C https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=1289#T=P On the top floor, I would encompass almost all the landing into the apartment, which would give you a bit more real estate to play with, perhaps to make the lounge/kitchen larger, as you said it seemed cramped. I think a lighter interior wall colour might help in both apartments too. I would also look at making the ground floor a little taller. If you look at most of the official modulars, the ground floor is significantly taller than the others, and this might give you the option to add some textural relief to the brick effect you’ve gone for. Love the dirty socks on the floor, and the cup in the sink. Nice touches like that turn a building into something with a story. I hope that I haven’t come across as too critical. I think you’ve done a great job, especially where I personally fall down, interiors. I find them so difficult to do well, so my MOCs tend to have rather rushed interiors, missing details like you’ve managed well here. Congrats, and keep building.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I’m just currently working on the same. Trying to get it to fit on one 32x32 base plate, without adding too many extra bricks. -

This same information has been posted in Italian, on a couple of facebook groups too, so it’s likely to be a singular origin, if it’s true, and is being repeated. Brick clicker may be that origin, however. As for Dec 1st, I hope not. Means it’ll be sold out when I’ve just prepared the Mrs for an extra expensive January. -

Yeah. I’ve got the sanctum, as it was a gift, but have resisted the Daily Bugle and will try to resist Avengers Tower, simply because to buy them both will set me back more than I can realistically afford, with the 2024 modular coming in at around £250-270. They’re also much taller than the other modulars, and my GBHQ looks a little large in my town. -

If this Lego Ideas Museum is what people are seeing, then I’m not yet convinced it’s the official modular for 2024. This rumour has been bouncing around some facebook groups all day. Will be interesting to see…. -

This is exactly my thought too. It also means a healthy income in January, A month where toy purchases are usually low. -

It’s quite unlikely I think. A January 1st release has been set for the modular building for some time now. I doubt TLG would want to change it unless they had a much better reason than a delayed product. -

We had a florists in Assembly square, so another one seems a little repetitive. I know there are a couple of restaurants but they’re quite distinctive in both architecture and also food style. There are loads of other shops etc they could do on a ‘shopping street’ before repeating the same again. Hardware, records, clothes, to name a few. -

I’m with a few others here. I love the idea of a 48x32 modular, but I'm not sure if it’ll be a single use building. If they have got one on the way for January, I’m surprised it’s not been held onto, for an anniversary set. With 18 buildings over 17 years, we’re not really near a 20th anniversary set. Mind you, Assembly Square was the 12th Modular, so perhaps there’s no real pattern. As for it being a 32x32 plate, but tall, I really hope not. It’ll dominate the rest of the series, and possibly look out of place. This is one of the reasons I’ve not yet purchased the daily bugle.
