I don't think it's secretly on its way. If this line continues (and really, how could it not? There's tons of sets left to be made) we'll see the Dutchman eventually. It's one of the iconic ships of the series...it would be like having Star Wars sets without the X-Wing.

Has anyone seen the polybags yet? 3 or 4 bucks for a hatted Jack and bottle seems just about the right set for me. -
I've made a bunch as well, which are really similar to yours. So I like 'em!

I was the last one to post in this thread, but that was over a month ago, so I should be okay, right? Anyway, after getting some of the first wave of POTC sets, I decided what I'd really like to see in the next wave (apart from Captain Teague as a minifig): more generic pirate figs. In the line that's currently out, we have a lot of specific character figs that, while awesome, are really limited in their use. I'd like to see a couple of generic pirate torsos and heads thrown in so not everyone is dressed like Jack Sparrow.

I got it. If you look at the pictures in this photo set you'll see everything there is to see. -

Nice! I'll have to head out there this week...maybe Friday after I get paid. What did you do, just take in the receipt? -
Great review! I think I'm going to wait to see the pics of the Black Pearl before I decide whether or not to drop the coin on this set. I'm glad that the 2x2 flags on the side aren't printed, they're much more useful to me in plain black.

Let me know if they honor that, because I could get some cash back as well. Cash to buy more POTC sets. It's a sickness. -
I'm wondering if the coins are a regional thing. The pictures of the set we've seen from outside the US have had chrome gold old-school coins, and those (like me) who have it in the States have the new pearl gold coins.

Like I said, I don't have the ability to take pictures of it that I feel would do the sets justice. I'm sure that someone will post a bunch of pictures and a full review in the next few days. The coins and ingots in both London Escape and Isla de Muerta are pearl gold (the coins are all marked 10, as far as I can tell.) -

I don't have the resources to do an extensive review, but I'll post a some notes on London Escape, simply because there haven't been any. -ALL the pieces are printed, including the hanging sign on the building and the painting of the ship(!!) -The green carriage has a play feature that catapults figs off the roof of the carriage. The doors of the carriage swing open. -The back of the wagon is built so it looks one way, but can rotate so it looks like it's on fire. -On the lowest floor of the building there's some sort of door that opens behind where the barrels are stored. It's pretty sturdy and brick built, and according to the instructions has something to do with a play feature that has the barrels rolling out, as seen in the last trailer with the barrels rolling down the stairs. -The figs are totally awesome. Gibbs is pretty much the wrong colors (though I know they made him the way they did so he wouldn't look like Jack), and has two expressions: scare and angry. But he looks like Gibbs. The soldier is the same as the '09 Pirates soldiers except for his hat, so I swapped it out so he'd fit better. The officer is great, but looks weird if you take off the baldric. The driver is somewhat weaker, in my opinion, but I didn't have his torso and any period dress is cool with me. His head is the same as Asoka from the PoP line. Jack is Jack. I don't like the hairpiece with the hat, and last night I figured out why; the hat is too wide from side to side. But because I had gotten a couple of other sets, I swapped it for the bandana piece and it's great. -It took me a lot longer to build than I had thought. This set has a lot of different parts to the build, which I personally really enjoyed. There's the cool dark green carriage, the wagon, and the building (which is in two of the numbered bags.) It doesn't seem like much when it's all built though. -The instructions did NOT have the cardboard backing, so they were a little folded up. Oddly enough, the only set the I bought that DID have it was Captain's Cabin, and I didn't even need the instructions to put it together. EDIT: I actually thought of a comment on the Captain's Cabin, other than the ship-in-bottle, navigational chart and globe pieces are awesome; the Zombie Yeoman (LEGO's name, not mine) is not Flesh, like I had thought, but Medium Dark Flesh (or nougat, if you prefer). Which kind of makes him less useful for MOC's, as you can only use that head and those arms. His head IS double-sided, though, which is cool. The Zombie Gunner has printing on the back of his head, but since he's bald, it's not a face print. -

Checked the other TRU that's a little out of the way, and LO AND BEHOLD they had the POTC sets. I picked up Isla de Muerta, Captain's Cabin, and London Escape. They didn't have, as prozac mentioned, the Fountain of Youth set. I really wanted the Navy Barbossa, but I can wait. I'm so stoked; I've been waiting for these sets since Jack showed up on the camel. -

How did you find that out? -
Maybe at first, but they're in a ton of the POTC sets, as well as this summer's Kingdoms sets (including the least expensive one), so the prices will come down. Yeah, the black boats are cool. They'll make great longboats for the Black Pearl. The compass is understandable, at least to me. Jack's compass doesn't work like a normal compass, and the compasses used before do. They're really too large for minifigs to hold, and haven't been in production for ten years. TLG probably figured they could get an acceptable result from the way that they did it, and threw the "real" compass idea out, if they considered it at all.

Checked TRU on my way to class; they weren't in-store yet. :( -
I haven't yet activated my VIP Card I got from my local LEGO Store because the website asks for an address. I'm wondering if LEGO sends me magazines or catalogs or something to the address I provide, or if it's just for record purposes or whatever. Does anyone know for sure?

Checked the local TRU today, no signs yet. I guess a trip to the brand store is in order on Saturday... I can't believe it's this week! -
I've been considering something from the scene where Jack rescues Elizabeth just after arriving in Port Royal... ...but it's not all worked out yet. EDIT: I had the clip in this post, but then thought better of reposting copyrighted material or whatever, so I took it out. Is there an official guideline for what video clips we are/are not allowed to post? I checked the stickied guidelines thread but didn't see anything about it.

I agree, but I think I read somewhere that "several" years have passed since the end of the third film. More than enough time for ol' Jack to change his look. If you look closely, he has a fancy new vest as well. -
Nah, they're red. They just look a little orange-y because of the light. On topic, great vigs. The first on really stands out to me, maybe because I haven't seen anyone build that scene yet. Really well done.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm referring to. If you check the little specs underneath the circle, it says "From Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" It's sad it won't have Tia Dalma. That's one fig I'm really really hoping for in the next wave. Along with Teague and Beckett. -

The poster at Toy Fair said the Black Pearl is based on Dead Man's Chest. So that means a human crew, no Barbossa, no Tia Dalma. We might get a new Elizabeth. Maybe Pintel and Ragetti. But you can bet we'll get a rehash Jack (if it's DMC, I'm hoping for a coated Jack, not hat) and the same Will and Gibbs that we've already seen. I really wouldn't expect more than one or two entirely new figs at all. -

How long was it between the Harry Potter site being complete and the release of the sets? I hope this means they're coming sooner rather than later.
