Review - 41999 4x4 Crawler Exclusive Edition
MarcusB replied to rm8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Is a good model, but way tooooo many threads about it. I am sure that you are proud to be selected for your model, but is time to be humble. Lego group's color choice is what makes this model appealing to me. That is the problem, there are five threads about this on page one. -
Studless vs. Studful
MarcusB replied to timslegos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not starting internet wars with people I don't know. If you think studded beams are superior, that is your opinion, but you can't deny the masterful cleverness of Sheepo's Porsche model. He should be working with the Lego company's technic team. He has done things with studless building that no one has ever seen before. -
Paul Boratko's Lego Technic Supercar Deluxe 2

You must have never seen Sheepo's Bugatti or newest Porsche model then. They are the best technic models and have many many more working functions. This model here is very nice, but is lacking the necessary functions that make it comparable to the ultimate technic supercars that Sheepo built. -

Studless vs. Studful
MarcusB replied to timslegos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Back when I got my 8880 set years ago, I thought it was the best ever and would never be topped. Now by today's standards it doesn't look very good at all and I also find it somewhat flimsy. I think technic models with no visible studs just look much better. Take Sheepo's Porsche for example. No way could this be made with studs and look this good and keep the weight down so it could be driven. Builders like Sheepo have taken no stud building to another level. -
Interesting transmission design, but I don't quite understand how
MarcusB replied to Meatman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nothing overly special about that. Just a simple 4 speed with no reverse, the 8880 model had that some 15+ years ago. If you want to see something that will really knock your socks off, check out Sheepo's Bugatti or Porsche both with 7 speed transmission with reverse that can be shifted remotely. -
8448 / 8466 Transmission / Gearbox Ratio Question
MarcusB posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I cannot find the answer anywhere and have been searching all day and have also tried searching here. Can someone please tell me what the ratios are for the speeds in the gearbox for the 8448/8466 transmission? Thanks. -
WIP R8
MarcusB replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't want to sound naive, but can these large heavy types of models really move properly with that powered transmission? The only reason why I ask is that I have been playing with much smaller less complex transmission systems and they just don't seem to work well remotely powered. I am still new getting back into Lego though. -
Chevrolet Camaro SS V8

Could you post some more detailed pictures of the suspension and drivetrain? Once again, superb model. -
Chevrolet Camaro SS V8

Awesome MOC! Easily the best Camaro that I have seen done in technic yet. You should consider doing instructions for this wonderful model. Brilliant idea for the Chevrolet emblems in the front and rear. -
Rolic's Lego Jaguar XJ220 Supercar
MarcusB replied to DLuders's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is a nice model. There are just some building techniques that were used that I don't know about. It seems pieces are just catching a part of a stud to achieve their angles. The appearance looks fantastic, but also very fragile. -
Silcantar's Lego Technic 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350
MarcusB replied to DLuders's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is a decent representation. I Like the yellow and black colors, they look good together. I think this is one of the best technic Mustangs that I have seen done. More Pics here Of course there is always the Mustang from Alex which in my opinion has yet to be touched. -

Finally, the debut of Sheepo's new Supercar and WOW does it deliver! This is the greatest technic creation ever! It is stunningly perfect in every way. I don't think anyone could do a better car strictly out of technic parts like this. This is leaps and bounds above anything I have seen to date(except for Sheepo's last Bugatti Supercar) Amazing amazing work! -

Large Scale Technic Cars
MarcusB replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Blakbird, could you give some examples of some Technic models from Lego that flex and stress parts like this? I have built many sets and do not recall ever building something that that broke the Lego Rules like this. Perhaps you could start a new thread devoted to that subject as to not change the subject here.
