Nexo Knights wishlists
Japanbuilder replied to JurrasicPiggy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Given the mix of swords, sorcery and tech I would like to have an Orbital Strike Station for Axl. And something like a Klingon Bird of Prey for Jestro's forces heh heh. -
Grabbed Macy's Thunder Mace, Glob Lobber and Ultimate Aaron from the local Yamada Denki. The Thunder Mace was so-so but I like Macy so it works out. The Glob Lobber was more fun than I expected and Ultimate Aaron is truly ultimate. Nexo Knights is my biggest guilty pleasure in LEGO so far lol.

What is your latest Licensed purchase?
Japanbuilder replied to Themadpatter's topic in LEGO Licensed
Got 76044 Clash of Heroes. That Batman printing is spectacular. It makes the very nice Superman in the set look impoverished by comparison. Too bad most of it gets covered by the armor and that the armor also quickly crinkles Batman's cape. Still it is amazing to get these two iconic figures in one set. -
Found set 75078 for a reasonable price (for Japan) and jumped on it. Wanted to get 2 but really I only need one since I am not sure how many Rebels Storm Troopers I'll end up with or Rebels set in general. Was pleasantly surprised by he troopers. They look very nice in person. Though I know the Rebels design is a turn off for many I was really charmed by them.

I am happy to see Thrawn again even if it means the old books will now never get back into canon because that whole sequence of events just would not fit with anything. Still I hope the new book reestablishes the character but into the new time line and with the same gusto as those old editions. I am also secretly hoping he has something of a cameo or even death scene in Rogue 1 lol.

The cheapest I can get these packs is for 18 bucks so I welcome the additional build elements since I use the parts for other stuff and it feels like I paid for the figures and the parts. One thing I wish they would do is make the builds a bit more battle-isn. Walls and ditches or some point of defense. A vehicle is ok but with the limited parts count you can't make anything of substance for "battle." Also I would love if they replaced some of the build pieces for regular non stud-shooting blasters. They can bundle both types in of course but once all the studs are lost I am sure most folk would like something that looks like blaster and not a megaphone on their figures.

Love the colors! Fantastic job! Makes want to go on a trip myself.

Have not really been following this set but now that I've seen that tinker bell I do hope she gets a release in another set. My daughter would love it above even me! She is her favorite.

Cleaning/restoring discoloured 'cape cloth'
Japanbuilder replied to atlas's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Not sure of the composition of the stiff cloth used for most LEGO capes. But getting that off sounds like it would be an ordeal (similar to removing yellowing in curtains) Not sure if it would be worth the expense specially if they get damaged further by the process. -
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Video Game Discussion

Lol. His analysis, while a bit too picky, was spot on at the most crucial flawed elements of the PT. I would welcome his inclusion heh heh.- 201 replies

If you could only keep one MOC/set, what would it be?
Japanbuilder replied to Diesel Lover's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Tough I love all my LEGO but if I had no choice and could only keep one I would keep 60097 for sure. Love that set and it is al the more dear since my children love that one the most too. They play with it all the time. -

Is it time for Lego to update their blaster rifle models?
Japanbuilder replied to RetroInferno's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I like the molds I just want them in more colors to better reflect the newer series. The First Order has their standard blasters in black and white. I want some of those colors on the current molds. They look Star Wars enough and at the same time generic enough to be used with other themes even city. Same molds dual colors FTW! -

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Japanbuilder replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wont happen thanks to Harmony Gold but I would love a Macross line in LEGO. Those Valkyries and Zentradi mecha would be so cool with a mix of Bionicle parts and other sic-fi bits. Plus a massive in SDF-1 in LEGO form would be epic! That being an impossible dream I would like Gainax's Aim for the Top (the first one) in LEGO as well. Having minifigs of that entire cast would be awesome. And finally a Metroid line would rock. Every Samus ever in minifig form with those space ships and metroids would rock. Plus space pirates too! Ridley would be awesome!- 451 replies

hah hah, this is generally my system also. Despite the exceedingly high price(of which I will complain) if I REALLY want the figures or build I buy the set. Granted I can't do that too often and, I am scaling back for Star Wars. But generally yeah. This method works best. You will have the LEGO you want going this route. I second this method!

>< 109.99 USD is a bit much for that set. But in Japan set 75148 Encounter on Jakku (ジャクーの戦い)is currently sitting at 82$ on Amazon Japan. I can only imagine how much they will charge for set 75158 when it is set to debut here. But I am sure whatever the price will be; that 109.99$ will seem like mana from heaven by comparison. What makes all of this sting more is that USA prices are considered overpriced. If that is overpriced then I am getting robbed blind >< I am sure this sentiment is shared in other regions where Star Wars set prices balloon to levels beyond comprehension.

In my experience it is rare for film as a medium to surpass the written works which inspire them. The two media convey their narratives in different ways and it just so happens that books convey more. Mostly because the written word has to fill in the gaps for lack of visual narrative modes. But unlike movies, books have had centuries to get their craft down. All that being said on occasion there is a rare piece of cinematic brilliance that far outshines the book it is based on. I would contend The Last of the Mohicans (1992) is one of those few gems that fits that bill. The pacing of the story is much improved by the film and the characterization is far more engaging, in particular, that of the eponymous Mohicans. The musical score also helped drive the mood in every scene the cinematography conveyed just as much weight as any line being uttered.

How to tell Light Grey from Light Bluish Grey?
Japanbuilder replied to Merkurius's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So true. I am guess my eyes are reaching their threshold because I was having a hard time 2 days ago telling the gun metal light saber hilt apart from the all black ones >< Gah I felt so old! -
Stickers in Lego Sets (opinion)!
Japanbuilder replied to vinchente000's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am not a big fan of stickers. However, after just dealing with it i find they do add to a lot to the look of a set. I wish it was more balanced out though. Stickers on big flat pieces, sure Ill deal with that. Stickers on a curved canopy? NO! Common LEGO print those please (I was mighty nervous getting my canopy just right on my Resistance Transporter). -
2016: A Disappointing Year?
Japanbuilder replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Comparing these year over year it doesn't seem like anything is disappointing per se. Sure some individual sets have not been well received, but generally speaking there is something for just about anyone. City is going on with, well City stuff. Just like in previous years. Creator has released yet more little vehicle builds with lots of useful pieces (specially for me as it is a cheap way to get parts to squeeze does big tires into the chassis of my 4-stud-wide cars) Star Wars has been limited to Rebels and FO but that is understandable given those series are more recent. NEXO Knights has been mixed but personally after getting a couple of the sets I am a convert. They're really really fun to fiddle with and come with interesting parts. There is only more to look forward to as far as I can tell. We still have the winter wave to contend with. I think it is too early to write off 2016 just yet.
