Almost all of my Lego purchases are impulse buys.

Collecting Star Wars minifigs: how did you start?
jdm44 replied to aabdguy87's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think the cheapest way to acquire minifigs is to buy sets and sell them on eBay without the figs. A lot of people are on the other side of the fence and just want the sets to build and don't care too much about the minifigs. I actually bought both the Falcon and Kylo's shuttle without the minifigures. You have to do some research to find out how much you'll get for each set. Some sets without minifigs like the Tie Fighter and Poe's X-Wing are worth a higher percentage of the retail cost compared to sets like Battle on Takodana. Be sure to carefully remove the minifigs from the numbered bags and tape them back up. I would also recommend selling just the bags and the instructions with no box to cut down on shipping costs. That might sound like a lot of work but I see it as part of the hobby. -
What minifigs come with the Resistance X-wing?

Thanks! I was on the fence about buying the set but now I think I'll get it. -

Quick question. Was the Battle Droid Troop Carrier ever in the movie (Episode I)? I only remember seeing a bunch of ATTs and MTTs. -

I hope this is the case (at least for this set) as I just started collecting and don't own any Hoth sets yet.

Now that you broke your OCD rule you don't have any excuses for not having a Maz statue. I think you have to make one now. It'll be hard for that scale but I think it's doable. Awesome moc either way.

I thought LEGO did a good job with this microfighter (unlike the regular version) but you definitely topped it. Looks awesome.

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
jdm44 replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
My point was that the 40th anniversary will coincide with an increase in public interest in which LEGO will take into consideration when designing their Star Wars ANH products for that year. I don't know how you can say that the 40th anniversary will have zero affect on sales. Anniversaries are not random or arbitrary. The 40th anniversary of ANH is more special than the 35th the same way that 40 years of marriage or 40 years of being alive is more special than 35. -
Are you planning on combining the multiple Takodana or Final Duel sets for a moc? That would be sweet.

Looks good. I like the stage setup with the red banners.

You don't know that. Maybe there will be a 40th anniversary blu ray release that is heavily advertised and lego will decide to make a set that they wouldn't have otherwise made to capitalize on the increased interest. I don't know to what degree the anniversary will affect their decision but saying that it will be irrelevant is wrong. -

Why wouldn't Lego make a big set and market it as a 40th anniversary special? That would make the anniversary completely relevant. -
Very nice! I've been waiting for a good Battle of Takodana moc. I think you should add a Maz Kanata statue to take it to the next level.

New member and collector here. My 3yo got her first Lego set at the beginning of December and she loved it. While browsing Christmas presents for her I noticed the new Millennium Falcon and decided to buy it for myself. That ended up being a costly purchase as you will see. Since then I've acquired: 75131: Resistance Trooper Battle Pack 75132: First Order Battle Pack 75139: Battle on Takodana 75140: Resistance Troop Transporter 75093: Death Star Final Duel (not built yet) 75094: Imperial Shuttle Tydirium (not built yet) 75099: Rey's Speeder 75100: First Order Snowspeeder 75101: First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter 75104: Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle 75052: Mos Eisley Cantina The Falcon, Tie Fighter, and Kylo's Shuttle are my favorite sets that I've built so far. I still want to get the Sandcrawler, Ewok Village, and Poe's X-Wing and then I'm done buying what's currently out. I like a lot of the retired sets but I don't want to spend more than retail so I'll just wait for new sets. I've always been into collectibles. I've collected and played Magic the Gathering on and off since 1994. I was able to sell a portion of my MTG collection that had been sitting in a box in my closet to pay for most of my new Legos. My daughter also has a pretty sweet collection now but I won't bore you guys with those details.

I have a question for you guys. Is there any chance that the Sandcrawler or the Ewok Village will go on sale at some point? I just got into collecting Lego Star Wars and I've had my eye on those two ever since I started browsing all the sets (especially the Sandcrawler). I don't mind waiting until they are a bit cheaper. I just don't want to wait too long and have them go up in price. -

I don't own the X-Wing (I plan on getting it), but I can say that Takodana is no good. The set is just a brick wall, a tree with two limbs, and a door that opens into nothing. Of course the minifigs are good but they're not worth the price of the set. I wasn't planning on buying it but Target tricked me with their $10 off. If you can afford it then I would highly recommend Kylo's Shuttle. That way you get Kylo + an awesome set.
