  1. Minas Tirith at 500$ in 2022 I just don't see it... Would have to be micro scale like Hogwarts. The big Bowser retails at 350$ in comparison so.

In the mini fig size range I can see a couple things but not complete cities like Minas Tirth, Orthanc, Eidoras ect

Moria crypt battle + Balrog, Helms Deep, Black gates or a big complete Bag End.

The Razor Crest looks absolutely amazing and it's definitely one for my shopping list.  Admittedly the RRP is a little painful but it's not totally ridiculous considering the scale and part count.  The interior looks well done - I particularly like the carbonite chamber and cockpit.  I haven't purchased any sets this year apart from the UCS Landspeeder so I could just about convince myself to order it at full RRP, although a decent GWP would certainly help!

The ship looks amazing, but I wonder why it's not gun metal gray for the color, would have been interesting and a bit more accurate.

Shout-out to the OG's for sticking around all these years, it's been a while my dudes.

I think it's been years since I have not logged in ( Star wars is kinda dead for me ), that theme revival smells very bad for my wallet.

Best case scenario is that they just go full on Harry Potter with original trilogy sets and the occasional Ring of Power mandatory publicity sets enforced by Amazon.

I think medieval fans would also be happy with that theme for lack of anything else going on D2C content not taken into account.

I wouldnt say that the summer wave was way better than the winter wave and all together I also agree that 2020 is not one one the most solid years of SW lego, even if the Mos Eisley UCS increased it from a much lower point. Although it is substantially better than 2019, which I think was the 2010 decades worst SW year.

2019 had nothing for me, only bought the Tantive IV (just the other week actually where I found it on half price) but that is only because I didn't have the previous version, If I did it would rather have been zero.

Late 2020 is great, early was meh aside from the Mando BP and I also liked Obi Wan's home.

I had a nice look at the higher res images; Garindan is spot on! Definitly one of the highlight of the minifigs line-up with Evazan and Ponda Baba.

  5. I own the 2014 cantina, this is not just ''3 times this set''.

The 2014 has a 2x 6 studs depht alcoves with no roofs, a very small bar counter and only the entrance has a roof. Dewback plus landspeeder and a mini fig lineup that was great but missing A LOT of stuff. You can't ever moc something out of it that looks remotly good as the new set and people tried HARD with multiple sets.

This one has 6x 12 studs wide alcoves with floor included, roofing, the complete bar, exit and entrance, the alley market, new speeder and plenty of interesting local fauna. It's gonna be really nice on display too!

My only criticism is that I would have liked to see even more aliens and maybe another sandtrooper with the enlistee rank (black pauldron, but the depicted accuratly the two present inspecting the bar)! Muftak (big 4 eyed Talz alien with the white fur) and maybe even the removed werewolf guy.

  6. Honestly the main cast had to be included; Lego could have been snarky and reject both droids because they are not allowed in; and to be fair at the rate lego is pumping R2-D2 into sets no one would have complainned to see another alien or droid in his place and 3PO is in the landspeeder set already available.

I'm 100% getting this day one and it's coming from someone jaded since a couple years of this theme especially after a lot of dissapointing sets ( Betrayal at Bespin and Assault on Hoth omg )

Now it's Razorcrest, AT-AT, duel at Bespin and this Mos Esley set; this is a breath of fresh air after the forgetable sequel trilogy legacy of sets.

Could that guy next to the devil be Elis Helrot? (deep cut, but the outfit seems kinda similar and the face is quite pale)

Yeahhh the outfit and colors seems to really match; nice eye.

I think the fig next to the devil guy is one of the Bossk-like guys they were kind of whitish

    Saurins maybe?

That was fast...I'm glad we're getting 3 Modal Nodes! And Wuher makes an appearance. That looks like Garindan next to the troopers, right? And does anyone know who the two on the right are, above the stormtroopers?

It looks like the guy that looks like a Devil, the guy besides him is greenish; could be the new alien added with the blue ray edition?

    And yeah it's Garindan!

    I'm counting 21 mini-figs.

    1. Hans Burkhard Schlömer designs really fragile sets with poor connections (and the UCS Slave I is terrible)

    2. 75218 X-Wing is infinitely better than either UCS version.

    5. I DO NOT want to ever see a Star Wars CMF, because I believe blind-bag purchases go against Lego’s philosophy.

    1. I wouldn't put the entire blame on him; as a designer he has to work with a technic specialist that builds the skeleton of the set and the QA team that review said set also has their input to give.

    2. Agreed.

    5. Also agree, would love to have identified bags for said mini figs though.

Agreed. I grew up on TCW, and my parents showed me the original 6 films when I was too young to really understand what was going on in them. The OT has been my favorite trilogy since I was old enough to understand the plot.

You do bring up an interesting point about the "coolness" of the good guys, I'd think lego would want clones on shelves at all times, since they're commonly agreed upon as the coolest looking faction, but they don't, really. Also agreed about the prequels conducting themselves better to playsets (or at least most playsets, I think Hoth and the Final Duel will always make great location sets), stuff like pentaki really needs to be released as a set.

Speaking of the clones being the "coolest good guys" and this being the unpopular opinion thread: I like the rebel fleet trooper design more than I like the clones'.

Playsets in the OT settings just haven't be tried much; Until recently Obi wan's home and yoda's hut had never been sold as a standalone set, Luke's home on tatooine (which has an interesting design) has not been done. Plenty of mos eisley locale and coruscant stuff could also be exploited but have not been so.

On clones being the ''good guy'' faction with the best design I would partially agree, more so to younger audience. They look a bit too much like toys and have quite the personnalities for a mass produced weapon. I see them more as a scary tragic tool. Aesthetic wise I prefer the faceless, cold and imposing style the empire has.

I also agree on your taste for fleet trooper design

So basically anyday the next week the Mos Eisley UCS can be leaked or officially revealed. Im almost too excited, not only do I want it so bad, but also because it's so difficult to visualize exactly how the set would look like.

Yeah I feel you; My biggest fear is what is gonna be included. Another luke landspeeder and R2 and C3P0 is almost inevitable and it's gonna waste pieces and cost on something that 95% of fans already have and at this time readily available.

  12. Oh god not a star wars CMF; our wallets don't need the abuse :cry_sad:

Though I don't have any room for complain for the Q4 of 2020; AT-AT and Duel at Bespin for OT fans; 501 battlepack and AAT for clone war fans, the razorcrest and even the UCS cantina coming up.

It's been SOO long since we had a great wave like this. Good sets spreaded out here and there but I have to say it's not been good like this since 2014.

  13. The best sets have already been announced prior.

The AT-AT, Razor-crest and 501 set are easily the best sets. The AAT is a neat little build but the main attraction is Ashoka and her clone trooper, the two droids are also neat.

It's a really high/low wave for me, I'll probably buy those sets above but have absolutly zero interest for the rest of the wave.

    Dear MKJoshA,

I'm not sure what you meant. Set 75290 is going to be the second UCS set this isn't a false rumor, it was said by stonewars.de, which is also a very trusted source.

Except this number is not listed on their website, nor anywhere else.

    You're wasting everyone's time.

    Edit: https://www.stonewars.de/lego-2020/

Their search engine is trash, sorry.

  15. The last season of clone wars was such a character centric one it's hard to come up with set ideas from Lego's perspective. ( No sister Martez centric sets, have mercy )

One of the few things I can come up with that would be fun for kids and collectors is Squad 99 ''Bad Batch'' with their shuttle or the mandalorian star ship we saw with the mandalore arc.

I think everyone would be universally happy if they'd just release something with both Rex and Ahsoka to be honest, those were the main characters of this season.

Pals! Do somebody know when did the Betrayal on Bespin set retired? Why did it have such short lifetime?

    Because it sold poorly.

Btw just checked the Stonewars comparison with the old/new AT-AT and I really like the changes done with the new one; the angles are better, more details, wider body and the legs are a bit longer I believe.
