Clone Wars managed to appeal to both kids and adults, and there's so much ''fan service'' for old time fans that's it's hard to believe Rebels is solely aiming at kids. I blame poor story telling and low budget. And is there anything Sabine can't do? Weapon engineer, jedi, super soldier, mechanic, pilot, artist? It's such a bore... I also watched the two episodes and bursted lauhging out loud at the conclusion, it's pathetic!

They got Luke's color off, and the face.... I expected more from this fig :( -
What was the last movie you watched?
RetroInferno replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I really liked Blade Runner too, it's even better in some ways than the original. -
It feels generic and a bit lazy, in fact it follows the same trend modern movies often take, using minimalistic ways for their titles. What I like even less is the ''A Star Wars Story'' that has to follow every spin off movies; Star Wars has always been a product, and I'm okay with that, but adding this is soo cynical... Let's hope they don't go over board with the porgs though, but it's the least of problems this movie might potentially have; so far it's been nothing but giant call backs to Empire strikes back with the promotionnal campaign.

In other stupid related news, the script for Battlefront 2's campaign leaked and it is truly a marvel to behold. Spoilers ahead of course.

As their best selling theme I meant Star Wars, not Ideas hahaha. -

Aren't Lego's guidelines the most bendable thing? This project aside, which clearly blows the ''No Minifigure-only projects, Minifigure series proposals, or “battle packs.” and some other in my opinion, the most interesting one is probably in the Keep your project’s contents appropriate; as in no violence, weapons, sci-fi blasters and death. Your best selling theme surely doesn't sound that approtiate Lego... -
Is LEGO entering a Dark Age - or am I?

I joined back around that time too, bought a lot of sets then my expenses slowed down, and now they are down to a crawl. For sake of space and money I stick to the original tirlogy Star Wars, although I make exceptions. It's not that I'm tired of the medium, it's just that the recent selection isn't doing anything for me; Lego went pretty insanely hard pushing their licensed movies with an unhealthy amount of sets, the new star wars source material is mostly boring and the amount of original trilogy sets really died down. The UCS line also took a hit with Assault on Hoth and the boring Death Star remake. I'd buy more sets it's just that the company isn't offering much for my tastes nowadays. But overall I'm nitpicking, the line still exists and is selling well, if you want real sadness look at the Castle fans, their last theme was horrendous and that more than 4 years ago, can't blame them if they ever out of the hobby. -

Yes I was talking about the Flickr account, On another note there must be some kind of big set coming this winter, some people hinted at some kind of rebel base on reddit, there's just way too much new rebel pilots and personnel mini-figs coming. -

The ''Cantina'' set seems legit; it all comes from a reliable source; Wuher was missing from the last set, 2014 sandtroopers are unnafordable on the secondary market and the Han Solo hair piece is always welcomed. I just hope it can be somewhat mixed in with the previous version, it would be nice :) -
A nice Medicom's Mafex Boba Fett, Expensive but worth it.
-
They likely won't speak/ affect the story in anyway, consider them as the token cute thing Disney has to implement. Upon rewatching the trailer they clearly edited something together to put people on edge; Kylo offering his hand to Rey when they clearly are not in the same room, Kylo aiming at Leia's ship and hesitating. I'm 100% most of what they tried telling us is hogwash as to what will happen in the movie. It looks good though, I just hope it's not a reash of Empire strikes back, although thanks to JJ it's gonna be pretty freacking hard to break that mold. If they use Luke correctly the movie could be a lot of fun.
-
Hum yeah about those Rebels sets, retailers don't want to touch them with a 10 feet pole; they sold very badly. As much as I would like a Tie Defender set I'm not holding my breath sadly.
-
A whole lot of teasing in this trailer, it feels good seeing mark hamill deliver a couple of lines though, he really takes all the screen :)
-
I think the new trailer will be out in a couple hours too no?

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
RetroInferno replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow that Phasma brickhead really took a door to the face. To the risk of offending the faint of hearts, but in my opinion, this Lego line is an utter crock of s$#%. We get it Lego, you really want to compete agaisn't the collectibles and action figures companies, but those brickheadz are neither cute, good looking or in demand. You want some cute affordable desk characters? Get some Funko pops. You want some more serious looking stuff? Hasbro Black series. Oustrageously priced collectors action figures imports that look damn fine? Medicom, Bandai or SF Figuarts. If people tought constraction figures such as Finn, Rey and Jyn Erso were shelves warmers, hold and behold because this may set a precedent. I really feel for the designer that had to cope designing Phasma, poor bloke... -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
RetroInferno replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow, Hasbro's black series was notorious for releasing the exact same ''Boba and Han in Carbonite'' impossible to find exclusive, Lego is seriously pulling their leg now. -
An 80$ difference from US$ to CAN$ at this price range... I've never seen this. That and the number of sets based on the movie is getting out of hands.
-
I think the most lasting thing this series will do for me are the initials. And they want to charge a monthly fee for this!?
-
Generally speaking, If the source material isn't awefull the price usually is. I really like the bomber's design, but I personally really dislike the gray, straight blue with accent of red color scheme; the other thing bothering me are the two small horizontal wings, they really pop out because of their lack of detail. But overall it's the best set, a lot of place to stuff mini-figs, good display and no mini-figs repeat. But that price, damn! Everything else goes from ''it's fine I guess'' to meh for me.

[PRESS RELEASE] 75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
RetroInferno replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The falcon exclusive black VIP card will grant ''special offers'' through 2018 on star wars stuff. You'll be able to get one only in 2017. What exactly? No idea, and it's kind of weird to offer an unknown timed promo at such an outragous pay wall.- 1134 replies

[PRESS RELEASE] 75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
RetroInferno replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Talk about a release debacle; the official reveal leaked before the hyped announcement, weeks of teasing on social media and marketing = not even an handfull of sets delivered per store and the official release date of october first won't even matter as they won't be back in stock. High five to marketing and the production teams, you guys shot yourself in the foot real good.- 1134 replies

Wow Cloud City hasn't been mentionned on this page yet? Let me fix that right now for you guys

At the rate they are going Disney may noy even be able to shoot the things, the Director for episode IX has been cast aside because his vision clashed with Kennedy's, same thing for the Han Solo flick, Rogue One went through some major reshoots. This is painfull to watch...
-
What caused this 5% diminution aside, they were booming by the double digits year after year. The executives made a motherlode of cash these last few years, and now the people at the bottom of the chainfood is paying for it. Maybe there's other stuff behind the scenes that would help explainning this better, but firing 8% of your total staff for a 5% diminution in profits seems petty. They could also give a call to Disney and tell them to price down their boring new trilogy Star Wars sets, that would help.
