They destroyed Smaug's mold?? No way!! I am glad I bought the Lonely Mountain set at the time, I love this dragon, much better than the one in the D&D set which just came out.

These are relatively small MOCs examples. If Lego decides to do a Minas Tirith on the scale of the upcoming Barad'Dur (5400+ pieces) I am pretty sure they can do much better than that (starting by increasing the number of wall layers), Here are a few bigger examples (but again, Lego has the means do do better) https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/58660122-6eea-44ec-bfb4-a0d26f4015fa/application/030a16d1-7cf4-42bc-aa24-211c9d433129 https://hpnonline.org/LEGO-Minas-Tirith-by-Nicola-Bozzolan-1-1-The-Brothers-Brick-2503472.html https://www.brickfanatics.com/minas-tirith-lothlorien-lego-lotr-contest https://www.brickfanatics.com/minas-tirith-lothlorien-lego-lotr-contest

That would be amazing! It would make it very expensive but I would pay pretty much any price for a well designed Minas Tirith :-)

Here are a few Minas Tirith MOCs below - totally doable with 5000+ pieces (which should be the piece count of Barad Dur for example according to the leaks) https://www.theonering.net/torwp/2020/05/27/108093-collecting-the-precious-what-if-a-lego-minas-tirith-was-made/ https://ideas.lego.com/projects/c8ea2aec-39a3-426e-9951-8fee9a759e67 https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-104144/GJC15344/the-white-city/#details

I could not disagree more. There have been amazing MOCs of Minas Tirith made in recent years, and it is totally feasible - I really hope it will be next year's LOTR big set! Edoras or Lothlorien would be fine too, but Helm's Deep and Bag End are not priorities as we already have them. Exactly this!

Same here, bought two 79007 at the time to be able to make one real big Black Gate ;-) Not sure why they would put the Mouth again in the Barad Dur set, but it's OK, no big deal. Very nice idea! Would love to add it to the GWP tributes I already have (Charles Dickens, Galileo Galilei, Amelia Earhart, Jane Goodall...)

    Dune 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I actually don't understand while he would not do also a movie based on the Children of Dune, it is excellent too. It was included in the mini-series which were not bad considering their budget.

I bought it on day 1 but have not built it yet. I will wait for my two sons to be old enough so we can do it together. For now I just keep smiling looking at the box and thinking it is the most beautifu set Lego has ever made :-)

    What did you buy today?

This year has been tough on my bank account! I bought: Vincent Van Gogh The Starry Night 21333, Avatar Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls 75574, Hokusai The Great Wave 31208, Executor Super Star Destroyer 75356, Back to the Future Time Machine 10300, Tales of the Space Age 21340, LOTR Rivendell 10316, Hogwarts Castle and Grounds 76419, Tranquil Garden 10315, Dunes Atreides Royal Ornithopter 10327 (and as I bought most of these on the Lego Shop, I got many GWP offered in addition).

If they continue after Barad Dur, I would love to see in priority: 1. Minas Tirith 2. Edoras Golden Hall 3. Khazad Dum and Balrog 4. Lothlorien

This may be the best Lego year in my life! First Rivendell, then the Dune set (my second favorite book/movie saga after LOTR) which I was not expecting at all, then the confirmation of Barad-Dur next year... it could not get any better (well, except for a Minas Tirith set in 2025) :-)

Only in USA then. It is still available for pre-order on the European Lego sites.

Nice one! I guess we could just paint the white of his eyes in blue, but they would look different than Chani's eyes for example...

    Dune 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

When I thought Lego could not do any better this year than LOTR Rivendell, here comes the announcement of an amazing set based on my favorite sci-fi saga of all times: Dune !!! I was not aware of the rumors this time so this is a huge surprise, I am so happy :-) Like many I would have preferred to get Stilgar rather than Liet Kynes, but this is a detail that can easily be corrected (any suggestions for a Stilgar head btw?). It goes without saying that I am pre-ordering in the very coming days (I may just hold off until 1 November to get the nice Galileo miniset as a bonus). PS: The Dune set being technically released in 2024, it has a chance to compete for the best set award next year (while Rivendell will hopefully win in 2023!).

I would welcome any new LOTR set, whether it is miniscale or microscale... anything but Brickheadz of course (I own every single LOTR set except these ugly things)

Amongst the 200+ sets that I own, here is my top 5: 1. Rivendell 2. Millenium Falcon 75192 3. Tower of Orthanc 4. Temple of Airjitzu 70751 5. Helm's Deep and Bag End ex-aequo (can't choose between these two!)

I don't really see the point of displaying the pirate ship ambush set by Rivendell, there is no link whatsoever between these two scenes... Besides, the pirate ship is the only LOTR set I did not buy, because I do not find it iconic at all (we only see it for a few seconds in the movie). But I did buy the King and Soldiers of the Dead minifigs on BL as they are great and I needed them for my Path of the Dead MOC :-)

Rings of Power looks great visually, that's for sure. But what disappointed me the most was the casting... To me most of the ROP actors lack talent, charisma and/or empathy. Come on, this is a billion dollar show, and they could not find a single actor at the level of Viggo Mortensen, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett or Elijah Wood ?? (to mention just the best from the LOTR trilogy - but they were all great, really)

Well, 83% is the critics score (based on 475 critics). The audience score is 38% (based on 37828 users).

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

I agree that 1 star is a bit harsh, I would give ROP 3 stars out of 5 (average show). I found the casting quite bad for most characters, and was disappointed by several aspects of the plot and the lore, but I did enjoy as always the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand. I do not find the show inspiring enough to wish for the release of sets based on it. But as I may have already mentioned earlier in this thread, if they do make some I might buy them just as fodder for my LOTR MOCs :-)

Yeah, that's always the same excuse given for shows with bad ratings
