  1. Great work, Clive! I think a lot of the vitriol directed at 42070 comes from the model falling short of what it could have been - and for marking the beginning of Lego's overpricing policy. I've shamelessly pinched quite a few ideas from the model
  2. This is coming along beautifully! I love the gearbox for the pneumatic switches - it's a challenge I still haven't had the nerve to take up.
  3. Thanks for the kind words, lads
  4. This is a fully remote-controlled tow truck. I used the RC distribution gearbox from my cherry picker so I could get eight RC functions out of three motors. The functions work in more-or-less logical pairs: drive & steering, crane lift & extension, crane winch & rear outriggers, tow fork lowering & unfolding. The model isn't based on any real vehicle - it's more of a random take on 42008. The cab is a lazy jumble of 42098, 42112 and some weird insect. Video (I forgot to raise the outriggers before driving off - senility sucks) & pics here: ------------ Some WIP pics:
  5. A heavy-duty dual planetary axle for Claas tyres. Shocks can be easily swapped out for softer or harder ones as needed.
  6. Finished this last week. Full topic here:
  7. Thanks Jundis & Jayden! I forgot to take more WIP pics - drat & bother. Anyway, full topic coming soon.
  8. Clive, the way you turn every misadventure into a funny, compelling story is just priceless I hope you take up writing eventually.
  9. I'd love to see that! Did you post it here on Eurobricks? I was going to use PU on this thing but the whole programming part put me off. A li'l progress (not happy about all those U-joints but hey, they get the job done).
  10. Godly. Just godly.
  11. That's such a beauty! I'd love to see more pics, too, especially of the internals. Thanks Ha ha, yeah, my trucks do tend to all look alike, although the lime one is actually quite larger and heavier on toddler-enrapturing features.
  12. Thank you! It's got manual drive & steering, an inline-4 (in the cabin ), opening doors and eight two-way motorised functions driven through two gearboxes (one with six functions in the carrier and one with two functions in the crane) by 1 M motor. You can see some WIP pics from a previous version (the mechanics have always stayed more or less the same) here.
  13. Can't remember if I already shared what must be the fourth iteration of my small(ish) tow truck. Looks like puke but it's tons of fun.
  14. Thank you, @Jundis! I love your version with duallies. What tyres did you use?
  15. Should the track width be 9 studs instead of 11? Completely misunderstood what you meant Sorry about that, Erik.
  16. Building techniques and colours aside, does this look right?
  17. Well, that sucks a golf ball through a garden hose
  18. Most of the members of a certain Italian farcebook page who got the model and built it didn't notice the issue with the gearbox; some of them didn't even realise that jumble of gears was actually meant to be a gearbox. Says a lot about the average Afol, at least in this tiny corner of the world.
  19. So happy to hear you're soldiering on and making a comeback
  20. Not at all familiar with paddle shifters and the like, but could this be incorporated into the Ferrari?
  21. What a superb entry! And yes, as stunning as the System version is, you've somehow managed to make the Technic version even better.
  22. That's a beautiful little build. I'm in awe at how you managed to cram so much mechanics into so little space and still preserve the model's aesthetics.
