This is specifically about the UCS Falcon, so why not posting this in the Press Release Falcon Thread.... Discussions about the set such as this have already taken place in why too many different threads, we dont need more to bloat the topic more and more. Regarding the topic... yes, it was a bad decision by Lego to allow more than 1 sale of the set per buyer and its even worse that this is done during VIP Early Access, since its not even the normal release yet after which you could argue that its okay for people to buy even this one multiple times because the amount of availability is stabil over several years.

Holy moly its huuge Veeery impressive, the tower is amazing and that landing pad even more outstanding
-
You cant even call it "after" the Falcon, not even during next year. The next 2 years at least will be in the light of the Falcon that will most likely become available for everyone who wants it because of more and more supply. I definitely wouldnt expect other UCS sets during that time which will go much over 2k pieces.

Absolutely fantastic. I think the ship doesnt get nearly as much coverage from the community as it deserves, which might be partly because the official UCS Version is just outstanding. Nevertheless, its nice to see other attempts at this incredible difficult design in Lego, and for its size yours really does it justice. The angles are very smooth and the colourization fits! Some aspects I think are even better than the UCS Version, namely the whole backside/underside, the wings and their connection to the main hull as well as the sloped hull part above the cockpit glass (above in flying position, which shows perfectly on the last image with boba fetts version). All in all, very impressive!

[MOC][LDD][PDF] The Viper probe droid, aka: Imperial Probe Droid
BigEl replied to mcgrah's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Awesome, that thing was always one of the most intimidating designs in Star Wars for me (combined with the sound it makes)!- 57 replies

My recent purchase just arrived: A pretty heavy black box in a box in a box (with a ton of pieces in it)
-
Agreed. In case of build I wanted to buy the Rogue One Rebel Trooper Battlepack first (the speeder and fortified turret are just amazing), but the Bounty Hunters are great because they offer maximum diversity, are very collectible and old-school.

To be fair, the Resistance Bomber has quite a lot of printed pieces, so relative to other sets a higher price per part ratio seems in line. Too bad its just too much more for me personally, but there is definitely some potential in desirable sets from Last Jedi. The Bomber for one when its on sale and if it has some great scenes in the movie and Minifigs like Old Luke and new First Order Guys!

I see, I thought that was the oversized Shield Generator

Great mix between classic and original design, I love it! But I must be blind, where is the Cockpit exactly? Also its kinda hard to imagine the scale of the ship, would it be considerably smaller compared to the Millenium Falcon (kinda like an A-Wing?) or something inbetween?

Recently I bought the Bounty Hunters Battle Pack, so I thought why not build something substantial to display them properly. Thus the project of building a MOC Hideout got started. In terms of parts I used the latest System Falcon, the AT-AP (which I both dismantled completely), the FO Special Forces Tie Fighter + around 200 spare parts. It took me around 2 weeks to design and build the whole thing and I am pleased with the result, even if its just fictional fun build (especially since it was my first real MOC ever and I only had a very limited selection of parts). The main features are: - Main building with walls that have partially custom angles and are almost completely snotted all around. - Sloping roof made out of a broken down TIE Wing Panel with entry/exit hatch and main generator sticking through - Partially broken down Tower with a balcony, ladder for access from the ground, ventilation system and maintenance hatch - Crashed FO Special Forces TIE Fighter on top of the tower, used as lookout/Sniper position and as a base for an Automated Heavy Laser Defense System (which can rotate 360 Degrees) - Satellite Dish on the back of the main building - Small Communication/Access Terminal in front of the main building and some Cargo/miscellanious stuff like spare parts - Reinforced Door with ID Scan and several Access terminals on the building and tower I also completely skipped on having any interior design for the building, since I solely build it for exterior display only. And now for some pictures: And some additional Close-Ups: Feedback would be appreciated!
-
As mentioned in the first post, there is no real interior. Its just the skeleton for the building + a bridge between the front and back wall on which the Generator is build upon.

Hah, now that youve said it, there is definitely some resemblance... Maybe I was unconciously driving towards that design when I build the thing The core idea was a shabby looking building (in line with the general sci-fi/technology artstyle of Star Wars), in which a crashed ship would be integrated in a makeshift way. The TIE was perfect because its already close to minifig scale for authenticity and the overall visual coherence, and its modular design allows for some interesting modding. On top of that it was easy to build into the tower (on a round 4x4 ratchet so it can stay in a fixed angle thats not just straight forward or to the side) and was simply at hand when I had the idea But the sloping roof was by far the biggest challenge since its random angle made the matter of gap closing between roof and walls a nightmare. But it turned out quite good I think (more by random coincidence than long and careful planning), and the biggest remaining gap is to the left of the satellite dish.

Amazing dude! The Resistance Bomber is the first truly new Design from the new Trilogry that I really really like. Just a mix of great elements both classic Star Wars (B Wing!) and realistic bomber design! If only the price wouldnt be so crazy high.... but on Sale I might give it a grab and MOD in similiar fashion to yours. I can get behind all the changes you made, modifying a System Scale Lego playset into a pure display set is both a challenge and a lot of fun to design!

The set is too big for one thread, it doesnt fit into one Its so large that it occupies this one, the Press Release as well as part of the Recent Purchases
-
Lothal is my least favorite, but all of them are outstanding. Cant believe how smooth and round the bases are, they are incredible! If I could pick one, I would definitely take Yavin 4!

The legs seem a bit small, but otherwise a fantastic build and another great example of why MIDI-Scale is awesome to make creative display models!

Yep, only true fans there who wanted to build and own this set for real.... But lets be real, that was to be expected. The hype is at its peak now and I have no doubt that there might be some people in the coming weeks, who dont want to wait for replenished Stocks, cant stand to see videos and pictures of other people who already own it and swallow a higher price. Just the way it goes..
-
Was the buy-limit legitimately 3 at the end? I thought that was just a placeholder... if it was and some people actually did order 3 of the falcons and in VIP Early Access Time no less, that would make me think also... This Hype was more or less obvious, its the first day you can possibly get the biggest Lego Set ever and then its the UCS Falcon now less, the predecessor being the most desired Lego Set ever (judging by scalper prices). So these immediate turn of events dont really come as a suprise, this is a truly "special/unique" case in my books. But I wouldnt worry too much over the long run, I am sure that everybody who wants this thing will get it eventually, its just a matter of time over the coming months (so the more impatient you are the worse it might be). Of course if they manage to have barely any Stock for the Set at its official Release, you could question what the "official release" actually does when there is (almost) nothing to Release.. but then again, like I said before, I see this as a "special" case where normal circumstances and procedures cant be applied.

I knew about the time being 8:30 local for me, so I kept refreshing from 8am onwards and was able to order at around 8:12... The window for buying this thing "normally" was around 10 - 15 minutes, shortly before 8:30 the page was already overloaded.
