75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion
Hobbun replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Licensed
Nice review. I don't like what I am hearing about how much an issue it is the open the firehouse. Where you basically need to lift it up to get it over the baseplate. As the reviewer noted, why couldn't the designer allow the baseplate to swing out as well? Also, it only has one hinge on the building, which makes it more unstable when trying to open or close it. Not too happy with this at all. -
I bought my DS just a few months ago, but haven't built it yet. And I know what you mean about the wallet. Especially now that I am looking at the Creator Modular (Expert) sets, as well. Edit: It's funny how quickly Amazon has changed now. Even Amazon themselves no longer have the Death Star in stock, so the lowest price is from a third party seller has now jumped up to almost $480.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Hobbun replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I admit, none of the small sets that have been released recently really interest me. Maybe that will change when I see the movie in about a week and a half, but right now, have no desire to purchase any of them. -
Same is showing for the US store (unless it falls under the same one). Glad I got my Death Star already. But I wouldn't worry about it too much, as there is supposed to be another DS coming out in 2016. Edit: Although what I find a little odd is the "Retiring Soon" was removed. Is that automatically removed when the item sells out? I figured TLG would leave it up there, either way.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Hobbun replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Yeah, I had thought about doing that (doing it piece by piece), but not there yet. I think I may just bypass the first three sets, but will keep piece-mealing the earliest sets in mind. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Hobbun replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Which one is the "main modular thread?" I will go take a look. The only threads I've seen dealing specifically to the sets is the "Brick Bank" and "Pet Shop" threads, but those threads dealt specifically to those sets, only. Thanks. Edit: Are you referring to the thread "Bricklinking Modular Buildings"? -
Heh, yeah, unfortunately that wouldn't work. I live in a condominium building, and really have nowhere to 'build' a LEGO room.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Hobbun replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Yes, I had read that on Wikipedia (that you linked, thank you), that the earlier sets had much less on details. I even remember reading that Cafe Corner didn't have anything inside as "you couldn't see it on the box". What you would you (or anyone who has bought these sets) recommend which set to start with that is built well/has good detail? -
Seriously thinking about getting into the 'Expert' Creator line, and this looks as good as any building to start with. My only issue is finding the room for them!

Thank you for everyone who has responded. I had hoped to collect the earlier sets, as well. But looking at the prices of those online, they are way too much. -

Thanks! But I believe the "Expert" line of them is the numbers that begin with 10? -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I didn't see a general question thread for this sub-forum, so started a new thread. Moderators, please feel free to condense with another thread if it was supposed to go there, instead. But I have been looking more into the Creator Expert line of buildings, and was curious all the sets that have been released for it. I see Brick Bank coming out the beginning of the year, and Detective's Offce, Parisian Restaurant, Pet Shop and Palace Cinema are still current. But what are the older ones that are now retired, as well? Does anyone have a complete listing of them? Thinking about getting into this line, just would need to find a place to put them! -
Thanks for the review. The set looks like a good one if you want to build up your stormtroopers or FO crew. It is a good set in regards to minifgs, but how much is the set? I would say the only thing I don't like about it is the weapons for the minifigures. I really wish TLG would get away from using the over-sized stud launcher blasters. I would just rather they went back to the older and smaller blasters. No, you can't shoot anything from them, but they are much more realistic looking.

PLEASE NO SPOILERS Episode VII. Is it good?
Hobbun replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I will admit, it's a bit disappointing what I am hearing in this thread. What I've been seeing online (on impressions, not spoilers), including here, I've had the impression this is the best Star Wars or up there with the best, like Empire Strikes Back. I saw one comparison to Phantom Menace in the polls. Ugh. -
The only confirmed one right now for me is the Ghostbusters HQ. But strongly looking at getting Slave 1. Also, thinking about the new Death Star. It depends on how much it differs from 10188 (just bought that about a month and a half ago).
-
I think, like I mentioned above, you can never have too many stormtroopers. Where with C-3PO, he is, as you said, a unique character. What are you going to do with multiple C-3POs? I am sure there are those who will find uses for multiple of them, but stormtroopers would be much more useful in having a quantity of them.
-
Yeah, I spoke with someone at the customer service desk. She is the one who told me they ran out the day before. To be honest, didn't check to see if I could purchase the stormtroopers separately, due to they had run out, anyways. Just going by the numerous signs plastered all over the LEGO sets about getting a free stormtrooper if you purchase a LEGO set for $30 or more. But only $4.99 or $5,99 at your TRU for C-3PO? Lucky you! I ended up buying two of them. Maybe I will check another TRU tonight, depending on how much time I have.
-
I didn't have that option at my TRU. The only way to get the stormtrooper was to purchase a $30 or more LEGO construction set. Then you would get ONE. And it was only $3.99 for you on top of that? How much did your TRU charge you for the red armed C-3PO? He was $6.99 at my TRU!
-
Actually, less (if there isn't a set you want to purchase). You can purchase 4 of them from Bricklink for as much as you would buy a set and get one Stormtrooper for "free" at TRU.
-
Yeah, exactly the same here. I would say there had to be at least 20 C-3POs at TRU. But I was told they ran out of the Stormtrooper yesterday (now Wednesday). Although they picked the wrong minifigure for having to purchase $30 or more. You only need one C-3PO, but you can never have too many Stormtroopers. And I'm certainly not going to buy multiple $30 construction sets to get multiple stormtroopers. I wonder how much the stormtroopers will go up for on Bricklink or Ebay.
-
Anything is possible. I am sure there will be some special type edition when the movies hit blu-ray. Keep in mind though Episode VII is the only one Abrams is directing. Rian Johnson is directing Episode VIII and Colin Trevorrow is Episode IX.
-
I was debating on purchasing this, as well. But the only place I can find it now is on Amazon and it's already marked up $50 ($250). Are you seeing it somewhere else still for MSRP ($199.99)?

Hi Leslie, welcome to Eurobricks. And of course you'll be accepted! Us bricklovers come from all levels of collecting. You don't have to be a serious collector to be accepted here.

This is a great review, like always ,WhiteFang. But I think I will pass on this. Like others have said, I am not a fan of the wings at all as there are just too many studs, they should have been more smooth. There is just no design purpose for the wings to be littered with studs like that.

Please, put spoilers tags on spoilers for the movie. Just writing "Spoilers" is not enough. To write actual spoilers, type out: "[ spoiler]text[/spoiler ]" (without the quotation marks and space between the bracket and letter)
