Congrats dude! Guess I will be checking my TRU this weekend for sure. There where rumors of them being released (alongside Nexo Knights) on the 20th which I was planning to check anyway.

Review: 71301 Ketar Creature of Stone

I have to say that I do really like Ketar. Not because he is the most solid set- he seems very questionable in many places (Why are one Kaiju Fin and one 4M bone in Dark Bley (A new color for the former as far as I know)? Why is there the extra socket and balljoint underneath the Piece of Unification? Why move his arms so far forward and have his tail made of Technic?)- but for the potential that he brings to the table. I still think it's a shame that you can't wrap his legs around Pohatu's torso (as confirmed by Ta-Metru Defender on BZP), which would help clean up the Unity quite a bit. If I end up seeing him in stores, he will probably be the first Creature I buy so I can try out as many new parts as possible. Heck, I will probably buy a duplicate for the parts later on.

Bionicle 2016 Story Discussion & Rumors

Wow, I actually REALLY like the idea of Makuta controlling Umarak via the MoCo. It would sort of make sense- what if that's one of the purposes of the mask, to not only let the wearer control other things but to allow the owner to control the wearer... I am also thinking that it could possibly be a pseudo-not-really-homage to Mata Nui's exile in the Ignika.

So he is indeed $25! That makes the Winter 2016 wave officially the same price as the Winter 2015 wave, which pleases me. That's actually a very good price for the duo then.

    Is Gen 1 Still Canon?

The best way to look at it is that it is a separate reality. G2 is a whole new thing separate from G1. G1 still exists and was a thing, just not a thing that we care about anymore. So no, it's not 'canon' in the context of G2's storyline.

I quite like this new polybag. Including the MoCr is a great way to get a beautiful mask in a newer set, and I am okay with the piece of cloth; depending on how he looks, I might save it for the new Ekimu to make him stand out from the Uniters. I would have liked recolored masks or a Trap for Melum, sure, but this is still a nice creative little addon.

    REVIEW: 71310 Umarak the Hunter

Thank you so much for getting Umarak out today! He does indeed looks gorgeous, and I think that your review shot him to be my first 2016 purchase. The masks especially look gorgeous! His personal mask looks perfectly chaotic and evil. I'm hoping that the Summer sets can yield new variants of the MoCr and MoCo. I am also guessing that it's associated color is now the green as opposed to purple (to match Makuta's pre-MoUP colors).

    Bionicle 2016 Sets Discussion

As has been demonstrated, to a newbie it is very hard to make CCBS sets as per instructions. A good example is the Brickset review for 44018- I believe Huw was corrected twice on the placement of shells. Another example is that, in many reviews of 75111, people who are new to CCBS not only place his lower arms the wrong way around but also complain about the lack of arm articulation that results from this. It is not that much of a stretch at all to say that people will mix up bones of the same length (which I swear I have seen before too). Since the differently colored bones came out with the Savage Planet wave, it's not that much of a stretch to think that it was a common complaint from builders during the 2.0 wave.

I am pretty sure they made his other arm use a hinged bone because it being the end holding up the hammer needs a bit more friction, and I believe the hinged bone does have the sort of stability needed to hold a big ol' drill-hammer. As to why it isn't Tr. Blu. Violet- I have a feeling that his legs where already the Dark Bley variety and they didn't want to include the same part in another color or make all of his bones that color.

Terak looks pretty great. The Tr.Bl.Violet does indeed look far less fluorescent, but it isn't too bad and a lot of the purple-ness still comes through well. His function actually works pretty well and I am glad to see there is a bit of friction in there thanks to the pin. He stands really fine on his own and doesn't feel like an accessory to Onua (which I was afraid of). I saw the hollow head coming and think it is an alright compromise- if you really want a jaw, you can probably create something using the bars on the back. All this is not to say that Onua is great. Sure, he doesn't look quite as chunky as his Master version, but he still looks like pretty much the same Toa. The torso piece does look a bit messy, but I am glad they smoothed out the ridges on the detail a bit. I'm sad to see that the crystal piece is blended with Tr.Clear, but I think it still sorta works. It's also nice to see that Shakar and me where damn close on the torso bone. It does look beautiful in the flesh and I'm glad to see that they found a way to work in some more friction.

The wave as a whole, how that K&M is confirmed to be $30, is only $5 more USD than 1W2015. I feel that it's well worth the money, but that's because I can (not easily though) afford them. I have a feeling the situation will be like this year though- if you hold out, you will probably be able to find decent sales, especially on the medium sized Toa and the Creatures.

Since I tried to do that when the translated descriptions came out... I'd be open to that. It's also great that K&M is less Euros than MMvSG; I'm okay with it being the same cost USD.

Yup, that diagram is accurate now. Thanks for making a comparison of the torsos that is pretty accurate; as you can tell, that's not something that I could easily do. Okay, yeah, I am now hoping that those Kaiju fins are silver. Speaking of lighting though- I have a feeling that Onua and Terak will be pretty different looking in hand. It may just be the (bad) lighting in my room though, but Tr. Purple is way darker than in the renders and they will not shine near as much as they do. It still works good as a purple color though, and looks darker than normal opaque Purple (which might end up working better with black).

    Star Wars Constraction 2016 Discussion

I'm gonna get Finn and the FO Stormie at least. Finn to see how the new gearbox implementation works, plenty of dark tan bits, and because he is the main character; the Stormie will be mine simply because I'm one of the many who has fallen in love with the new design.

I really like the things you did here, bringing in all sorts of different options on how to make this bad dude. Nice to see someone used my idea for the claws! That last tail design is wicked and something I will have to try for myself. But I do also have to say that, yes, he could use a bit of Tr. Neon Orange. In fact, I need to get around to putting some back on mine.

Thank you for the info! We knew them all save for K&M, which I think sparked some debate as to the possibility of it being $25. It's a shame that the set is $30, as they do not really feel like a $20 Toa and $10 Creature. Hmm.

Huh, guess there's the villain tax in effect. Surprised that Phasma isn't also $25.

From the neck to the hips I believe it is 11M. The section from the lowest pinhole on the torso to the bottom of the turntable gear is 2M, which can be seen in Umarak's pictures; the Ribcage torso shell is 3M long below the attachment, one of which is used for the liftarm. It would probably be true that the hip will be permanently attached. Here's another little diagram I made to show what I am saying. It is pretty evident when you look at the gap right below the lowest pinhole- you can see the end of the connector. Edit: Does anyone know what color of Kaiju claw Ketar and Uxar use? I can't tell if it's black, silver, or gunmetal (which would be a new recolor I believe).

    Bionicle 2016 Sets Discussion

Funnily enough, that diagram was drawn the day before the finalized pictures came out. I thought that the arms attatched to the Piece of Unification and did not think there would be the crossbar. Your number of holes is accurate, as I thought there would be another one in the section that is reinforced. The other pinhole I said you needed on the small torso is between the shoulder part and the ball that the torso shells attach to; you only have one whereas the actual torso has two. Again, sorry if I sound a bit anal on this, but it's just another correction that should help with scale. Also, looking at Gali's back, I just had an epiphany. Looking at the part above the gear, I can see something on the inside of the torso. It looks like the new torso does NOT use a connection like the small turntable, but has a connection more like the studgun used in this year's Protectors! The hip piece is similar to the center (yellow) section. I am hoping they tooled it to possibly have a ratchet mechanism or just have far more friction.

The way I believe is that it works the same way as the small Technic turntable recently introduced. The geared portion that you see above the silver hip piece is part of the main torso section and is similar to the black piece of the turntable. The bottom hip piece is just the section the axle goes through and the balls the legs connect to, and is similar to the grey piece of the turntable. While the top of this isn't accurate and was proven wrong, I made a little diagram. Speaking of that turntable, it might be a good idea to ask anyone who still has #44022 if the waist swivel gives them any issue with posing the set.

Bionicle 2016 Story Discussion & Rumors

I've always joked that I want Umarak to pull in as many redneck stereotypes as possible, as that's what I (hailing from Texas) associate 'Hunter' with. There's also the (far more likely) possibility that they will give him something along the lines of a more historical big game hunter stereotype (for example, General Zaroff from The Most Dangerous Game). I don't really get where the Australian accent could come from though. Speaking more on the question you posed... Even though I was alright with it last year, can we please get a female voice actor for Gali this time? I am hoping that there will be enough room to work it in. They could also take the opportunity to reuse the same voice actor for a couple of the Creatures if they decide they should be talkative.

    Bionicle 2016 Sets Discussion

A couple of admendments to the diagram: The torso has a ball with technic hole in it (like that one liftarm and mini torsos), which attaches the torso shell. It can be seen best in Gali's back view. The section from the turntable gear to the first technic hole seems to be 2 modules high, and a hole is missing on the normal small torso. Is that an illustration of the possible ratchet mechanism that was being discussed on the previous page? To me the turntable gear seems to be one whole piece, as it is shaped in the same way that normal bevel gears are. Not to knock on the diagram though- you did a pretty dang good job helping to illustrate the new torso beam.

What parts are you all talking about? I don't really see anything that could indicate gears for friction on the hip rotation.

I personally like the technic wheels. It's a pretty smart thing and reminds me of a little ammo pouch. Speaking on that- wasn't that technique (stud in a Technic hole) considered illegal and/or unstable? I don't recall seeing it on official sets until seeing these little ammo wheels and the exhausts on a few new City sets. On the eyestalks- I'd bet that they snipped off the end (I always referred to it as the stem) to allow space not for the Creature's heads specifically, but to give room for their neck to move around when you move the head, which might help explain why they all use 4M bones for long necks. I am also wondering if the back is where the Creature's heads clip on, as a connection to the mask would be a bit unstable.

Bionicle 2016 Story Discussion & Rumors

I doubt it. The transparent-ness isn't really a good indicator for if something has power, as all of the Skull Villains have plenty of transparent parts and don't have elemental affiliation outside of stealing the Toa's energies. If it does, though, I am betting it will be related to Hunting in some fashion (improved accuracy, better camoflage, etc.). I will bet that the Toa maintain completely control over their United forms and that the Creatures are definitely sapient but act like one would expect pets too.
