    Star Wars Rebels

I feel like the animation looks like it could be an old 90s Disney film put into CG. Kanan looks like he could be from Mulan or Aladdin.

    Star Wars

I'm intrigued by the idea of the overarching villain of the trilogy being non-Sith. However, that doesn't mean that whatever it is can't be Force sensitive. The Sith had their heyday with the formation of the Empire, yet they eventually failed. One thing I feel that The Clone Wars did a good job of showing is that the Force is much larger than we realize, and not so cut and dry as only Jedi and Sith, as demonstrated by the Mortis arc and Yoda's story. I could see Adam Driver's character starting off as a student much like Anakin, and being tempted by some mysterious wielder of Dark Force energy, undefined by the paradigms of either Order. Whether or not this being exists within the physical world or not could be unknown, and slowly explored throughout the trilogy. I dunno, I'm just spouting out thoughts. As for things like Cad Bane, I'd be very upset is they decided to use this new trilogy to tie up loose ends from old stories. Its a NEW trilogy, so give us something that has its own feel. The OT has a very particular feel, the PT has its own style, so the ST very much needs to be able to stand on its own without relying on cameos for support. I wouldn't be surprised if the new EU will explore much more of the Dark Times, seeing as how Rebels takes place in that era. That is where CW-only characters deserve their time; in books and comics and games. Leave the new trilogy to become their own entity within the Star Wars universe.

    Star Wars

That is some interesting information. Hopefully only some of it is true. I also don't like the idea of them using Ventress in the film. They've handled her story well in Clone Wars, and she seems like a weird choice to be included in the new movie. Without Anakin or Obi-Wan, I feel like she would feel out of place. Also, unless the Nightsisters age differently than humans, she'd be too old for Lupita Nyong'o to believably play. As for the Chiss, I agree. I've always loved Star Wars because its aliens are usually so drastically different from humans, unlike Star Trek. The Chiss have always been one of my least favourite species simply because they are boring. Visually, there isn't much too them, and the whole species is famous for basically one madman with a fleet, and a madman who isn't even canon anymore at that!

True... I guess it doesn't matter. I just hate seeing the mods having to step in. Even though they're here to regulate the topic, I still fell bad.

Thats obvious. I mean out of the new cast members, not the original ones. I think its a safe bet that Serkis will be playing some alien, but Driver could also. Maybe even Boyega. Its just interesting to think about the possibilities.

I agree, the axe conversation is kinda pointless now. We have the image, so we all know what it looks like. It would be a good idea to push the conversation towards more on-topic things.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

I really feel like everyone is looking into the poster WAY too much. Its just a poster, yet everyone is tearing it to pieces and trying to decrypt some secret that is just seemingly not there. While a new Bespin set could happen, it would only make sense as an exclusive like the Ewok Village or Sandcrawler. All normal sized sets for the next year and a half will likely forces more on Rebels and Episode 7. I wouldn't be surprised in the winter 2015 wave is almost exclusively Rebels sets, since the show will have been on the air for a few months by then. After that, the regular summer wave may get pushed up to December to coincide with the new film, which will mean a significant dry spell followed by the most exciting sets since LEGO Star Wars started.

    Star Wars

Ah, duh! How did I forget about that! I guess so, then. One thing I'm particularly excited about is what sorts of new alien species the film could introduce, and perhaps Serkis could be playing a main character from a new species, like Jar Jar (yet hopefully very unlike Jar Jar). Also, do you think all the cast members are necessarily playing humans? Its something worth wondering.

    Star Wars

I always forget that von Sydow was in Minority Report. I haven't seen that movie in years. Hopefully he is the new main villain. Also, I doubt we'll see anyone in their underwear. It is Star Wars and Disney, after all.

    Star Wars

Yeah, now that I think about it, Max von Sydow makes a hell of a lot more sense as a new Sidious-like character, with Adam Driver potentially playing his apprentice, or apprentice to be. I found this on Zimbio.com. It outlines each actor and their potential roles based on what other info we have from leaked casting calls and what not. While none of it is confirmed, it kinda does help figure out where the actors fit in the story. http://www.zimbio.com/Beyond+the+Box+Office/articles/0YkA5dwcynX/Everything+Know+Far+New+Star+Wars+Cast I'm most excited by the prospect of Gleeson playing Luke's son. He has the perfect look for it, and the fact that he is ginger could hint that the other big female lead they have yet to cast could be Mara Jade. I'd love it if she was an aspect they kept from the old EU.

    Star Wars

I'm surprised that so few people have heard of the cast members. Sure, some are kind of unknown, but for the most part they've been around for a while. Jonh Boyega and Daisy Ridley are essentially the newbies, with only one or two indie titles to their name. Adam Driver is also kind of unknown, but he's recently had more attention because of his role of the HBO series Girls. He also appeared in Inside Llewyn Davis, alongside Oscar Issac, who is also in this cast list. Issac also played King John in the 2009 Ridley Scott version of Robin Hood. Max von Sydow also appeared in that film as Loxley, although his most famous role is from the original Exorcist film. Domhall Gleeson is most well known for playing Bill Weasley in The Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2, as well as playing the lead in About Time (which is perhaps one of my most favourite films, I highly suggest it). Overall, they have a very strong cast with some magnificent actors who, with the direction of Abrams, will outshine all the performances given in the prequels (although that bar isn't set very high to begin with). While not all of my dream cast members are listed (Dane Dehann as Luke's son; he'd make an amazing Skywalker), this cast is a powerhouse of talent and will give the Star Wars saga exactly the sort of rejuvenation it desperately needs.

I'm fine with Obi-Wan and Yoda not appearing. They were Luke's teachers. This movie takes place 30 years after ROTJ. They did their job with Luke, and now its Luke's turn to take their place. Also, I just watched Attack the Block. While a mediocre movie overall, I now have faith in Boyega's ability to play a hero. He's gonna be great.

Another female sounds good. I'm really hopeful that the main protagonist is Daisy Ridley. I think having a female Jedi hero could be exactly the sort of change that Star Wars needs. Then again, people could see that as too much like their following the popular young adult female hero formula that has become so prominent thanks to The Hunger Games.

    Star Wars Rebels

You're right to say that the fan base is lopsided, BrickG. But its lopsided in a different way. All the adult fans that were kids when the originals were released seem to still have this huge distaste for most things that come directly form George or others with his power. Its like they're still licking their wounds from The Phantom Menace, 15 years later. They've become accustomed to the darker EU stories from comics and books, and now that they're older and want more substance from the stories, want to see a much darker side to the universe of Star Wars, that they've forgotten the true basis for Star Wars: old 1940s serials, with campy stories and obvious plots. Then again, this is all coming from a fan who is part of a younger generation. I was 5 when The Phantom Menace came out. I'm part of the prequel generation. But that doesn't mean I'm blind to the bad things the prequels did. TPM, as a film, is atrocious. But it is what it is, and I love it. It seems that todays society has become too cynical and has forgotten how to distinguish good from evil. Movies and tv today focus more on anti-heroes, like Walter White or Don Draper. We're in the exact same position we were before Star Wars existed, with muddy politics and unjustified wars. Back in the day, Star Wars helped bring us out of that and rejuvenated the storytelling industry. We've come round full circle, so I say let this show be more kiddie. I welcome the childlike adventure with open arms.

    Star Wars Rebels

I disagree. I feel like he's right when he says how young kids love Star Wars and see it as this amazing, intense adventure, and adults see it as a fun ride. When you think about it, A New Hope is very much a kids movie. Theres very little character development, a basic plot, no romance; just a lot of really cool stuff with fun characters who are easy to understand. If they are able to replicate the spectacle and excitement that A New Hope creates (I still get giddy when I watch the TIE Fighter fight), while adding a little bit more of a grander story that fits into the overall scope of the universe. I also feel like I'm now no longer so adamant about callbacks to The Clone Wars, and Ahsoka in particular. I'm now almost relieved that this show will be its own sorta thing, while still respecting the other stories. And I'm glad to hear that Filoni has contact with other departments within Lucasfilm, so if Ahsoka were to perhaps appear in the upcoming Lords of the Sith novel, he could guide the author on how to weave her into the story. I also feel like Ahsoka, if she's given any kind of closure at all, deserves it to exist in a darker realm of the story. I find myself focussing a lot on Ahsoka, but its tough not too because she's my favourite character in the Star Wars universe.

    Star Wars

I think they're avoiding any large stories from the Legends timeline. That big announcement they made about the future of the EU kinda confirmed for me that, while some aspects may survive in the new stories, for the most part the old EU isn't any kind of canon anymore. I stumbled across this interview with Dave Filoni from Wonder Con discussing Rebels, and it kinda gives some insight to how Disney is handling all the different stories and mediums they have planned for Star Wars. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2014/04/27/star-wars-rebels-dave-filoni-discusses-the-approach-the-characters-and-fan-skepticism?page=1 At one point, he talks about how there were times in The Clone Wars where they were do something that would contradict a pre-existing EU story (the fate of Even Piell, for example), and he basically would have to say "Well this is what George wants. This is canon". He then goes on to say how, within Disney, all the different facets of the Star Wars storytellers, from the new trilogy to the Rebels series to books and games, all have contact with each other so they can make sure that everything lines up and makes sense.

So Wonder Con just happened, and I found an interview with Dave Filoni about the series. Its definitely worth the read. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2014/04/27/star-wars-rebels-dave-filoni-discusses-the-approach-the-characters-and-fan-skepticism?page=1

    Star Wars

Sorry for double posting, but I didn't see these before. While the cast is light on females, I'm really hoping that Ridley is the main hero. It'd be amazing if the main protagonist for the next trilogy is a female Jedi. That'd be so damn cool.

    Star Wars

I'm ecstatic that we now have the cast! It looks so good! Its pretty obvious that John Boyega and Daisy Ridley are the new heroes. I have yet to see Attack the Block, so I'm not sure what Boyega is like, but now that he is the new hero, I'm gonna need to see it. Domhall Gleeson is a great actor, and it will be interesting to see where he fits into the story. He's kind of an awkward lanky guy, so I'm not sure what he could be. Oscar Issac is awesome as well, and could easily play either a hero or a villain. I could see him being a smuggler type character, kinda becoming the Han Solo of this new generation. I'm pretty sure that when Adam Driver was first rumoured, he was attached to a Sith Lord part. So he's likely gonna be the new villain. He doesn't seem like a villain, so I'm excited to see what they have planned. There was a rumour that I read somewhere that said Jaxxon, the Leppi smuggler from a comic, will have a role in the movie. If this is true, I could see Andy Serkis playing him via motion capture. If Jaxxon isn't in the film, I still believe Serkis will be playing something using mocap tech. Max von Sydow is probably the biggest surprise for me. I just didn't expect him. He'll be amazing, and he's likely gonna be the 'new' Obi-Wan, but who knows. Then theres the original cast, which everyone expected. Although, its kinda too bad Lando isn't back. I wonder where he'll fit into the story; maybe he's dead or something. I'm guessing now that we've got this big announcement to slake our thirst for news, no more info will be released till later in the summer. Somewhere it was speculated that the title would be announced at SDCC, which would be amazing, but other than that, I doubt we'll hear or see anything confirmed till close to the end of the summer. Hopefully I'm wrong.

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

Sweet. That seems to be the cheapest way to get the piece right now, unless I get one from Ebay. I'm not sure if I can justify the expense. Thanks for the help, though.

Thats not the piece I'm looking for. Its these hilts, but in brown: http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/230832113976_1_0_1/1000x1000.jpg I'm not sure if they've been done in brown.

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

I agree. The hilt is too long to be a single handed sword, yet too short to allow two hands. And the blade is too curvy and thin. It doesn't fit with the Middle-Earth figs. On the subject of the Windlance, I'm sure we'll see something similar to what is shown in the game. Its a simple enough design to be plausible in a set, and as deskp said, it may very well be that the game designers just used the existing LEGO design for the game. And the Black Arrow being made of a flick missile and a spear tip thing looks fine. Also, I really hope we see the Bolg from the game. While he may look a little strange next to Azog, the shoulder armour and head plate should make him seem taller. Also, the bone mace that he has in the game is a particularly cool weapon and it would be really nice if LEGO gave us that. Speaking of more elaborate weapons from the game, I noticed Beorn's axe is made using a shorter brown shaft, with one of those three studded lightsaber hilts in brown, along with an axe head and silver tooth. Does anyone know if the lightsaber hilt bit has been released in brown yet? I have a bunch in gold from some Ninjago sets, but I've yet to see brown, and I'd love to replicate the game axe for my minifig.
  23. Hello everyone! So I didn't see this news anywhere on the site and decided I should bring it to the attention of the forum. Citizen Brick has released a new series of 12 Game of Thrones inspired Minifigs. Seeing as they can't call them by their official character names, the series is under the name Dragon Sword Fighter Force. You can buy the whole lot for $220, or three for $55. Sure, it's a pretty steep price, but given the detail put into the figs, and the fact that this is likely the closest we'll ever get to official Game of Thrones LEGO, I'd say it's not too bad. http://citizenbrick.myshopify.com/products/dragon-sword-fighter-force-complete-series-plus-bonus-minifig The characters included are: Khal Drogo, Danaerys Targaryan, Melisandre (sold in a package of three), Joffrey Baratheon, Tyrion Lannister, Varys (sold in a package of three), Jon Snow, Ygritte, a White Walker (sold in a package of three), and finally Jaime Lannister, Arya Stark, and Brienne of Tarth (sold in a package of three). Given the fact that the new season of Game of Thrones has just started, the timing of this release couldn't be better. I know I'm gonna start scrounging up every loose penny I can find to get my hands on the beautiful figs. I also desperately hope that Citizen Brick plans on doing this Game of Thrones minifig series thing like LEGO's CMF series. There are so many characters to choose from, and enough fans and collectors who'd definitely want these masterpieces gracing their shelves or dioramas.

I hope so. I don't particularly care what section of Erebor we get ( and I wouldn't be surprised if we get the throne, one furnace and some other stuff), but I would hate to get DOS figs. We better get BO5A figs in this set.
