About Me
All about Legostein...
Hello everybody,
this is the place where you get to know a little bit about myself, my personal LEGO® thoughts and my life here on these fine forums. If you're interested in a short presentation of some of my creations, you may skip the text paragraphs below.
--------------------
About myself and how I got into LEGO®
My real-life name is Christopher and I live in southern Germany near Legoland Guenzburg. I am currently 29 years old and enjoy the LEGO® as much as in my younger years.
My passion for the bricks started in my early childhood, and has never stopped since then. This means I was lucky not to fall into te so-called "dark ages". When I was much younger I loved playing with pirates, knights, space and town sets. I had many favourites making it difficult to tell a clear winner.
When I became a teenager, a second passion occured to me besides the bricks - the addiction to Star Wars. It was a great possibility to combine my two favourite hobbies, and thus I began to build simple Star Wars ships from space sets, for example Blacktron II. However these creations never made it to the web.
Then in late 2002 I learned about a new "miniature" Star Wars line which fascinated me in particular. Once I saw a preview of the first official Star Wars mini models, I definitely wanted to build such small and cute vessels myself. The AT-AT was my first attempt, built shortly before the official release of the first offical mini model wave.
You probably know where my path has taken me. Almost two hundred Star Wars mini models are in my collection today. My mini modelling passion has also been expanded to other science fiction universes like Star Trek, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, and many other miscellaneous Science Fiction movies. Some pieces of mini architecture also have been added recently.

About my LEGO® universe
As for every hobby, there are things you like, and others you rather dislike. Without any doubt LEGO® is the best construction toy ever. As a brick fan you do not always agree with what the company does. But to keep a long story short, you have to arrange with what company does and make the best out of it. Let me give two examples.
When the "big colour change" took place in 2003/2004 I was very sceptic about the necessity of this step. Today I appreciate the new colours as they also brought us many new valuable elements.
Large prefabriquated and specialized elements become more and more present in newer sets. I still think that's a bad point as they decrease versatility and creativity during building. But you can try to find alternate ways to use these elements and include them where no one would have expected them. I try to do this as often as possible.
--------------------
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The Good: You never grow too old for building with bricks.
The Bad: While set prices increase, brick quality decreases.
The Ugly: Large prefabricated elements appear more frequently.
--------------------
Rules I try to stick to
- Build as simple as possible but as complicated as necessary.
- No saw, glue or paint for your models. Only official parts.
- Do not mix light gray with light bley or dark gray with dark bley.
- Avoid asymmetry except if the model is asymmetric itself.
