I've added my vote. The one advantage this has over regular scrabble is that the tiles won't slide around everywhere. Does it need a separate little display to explain what the coloured 2x2 jumper bricks mean, eg double word score et cetera?

One day out, it actually starts on the 8th. Pretty much all sales at Target start on Thursdays. You'll have much better luck tomorrow. I was thinking of grabbing the Vader clock there for $29, but Target Adelaide appears to be sold out even before they were on sale, just a couple stormtrooper ones left on the shelves. -

The Maersk ship is back for sale on shop at home and at 20% off, making it $136. I also noticed that the Town Hall is the top seller. It just goes to show what happens when a big set is priced reasonably. Also the Opera House is in the top 10. -

Hey marvinblue, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like they used the wrong pic and you'll actually get the garbage truck. Fishpond listed it as set 4432 Garbage Truck but used Recycle Truck picture. -

Thanks for the news. I might grab myself a Friends set or two, purely as gifts for future birthdays for daughters of my friends of course... -
Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
Hewman replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I just bought a $40 set from amazon.com and shipping to Australia for it was less than $10. I've never seen such cheap shipping for Lego from them before. Edit: Splat, I think that may be because the VW camper is from a 3rd party seller, so they make up their own shipping charges. -
Absolutely beautiful. The shape reminds me more of a whale flipping its tail, rather than a fish that it reminded someone elso of. DO you have a definitive answer about what kind of sea creature it is supposed to look like, if any?

Their sale starts tomorrow with 25% off licensed sets and 35% off non-licensed. Shipping is a flat $10. I've never bought from them but plenty of others have had good experiences with them. Although I do worry about a small business offering 35% off, there can't be much profit margin in that. For those that have been thinking about buying some of the bigger Pharaoh's Quest sets and don't like ordering from overseas, this may be a good chance to greab them at a reasonable price. -
Hi Poison Ivy The first thing is that it's a little difficult to critique your writing style with such a short sample, unless the work is terrible but this is not terrible. I've had a moderate amount of success as a writer and the best suggestion I can make is to attend writing courses. There are also numerous good books on writing style and story development. The only suggestion I can make on the sample you've provided is to try to avoid adverbs. Good luck. Hewman

Thanks for that news. I believe some k-marts also have the big Alien Conquest set on clearance for $99, well worth it at that price. Myer Adelaide had one Imperial Flagship and a few 10231 Space Shuttles, I'm not sure if they're giving an extra 10% off on top of the 20% off Lego, but it looks like production of the Flagship has ceased and prices are going up quickly. -
Given the limited pieces at your disposal, you've done a brilliant job!

I clicked on the link in the email from Myer and the only Lego sets were the Droid Escape and the Geonosian one, so is it only those on special, and hence only them the extra 10% applies to? I couldn't find an actual catalogue, possibly because there's not enough on special to warrant a full catalogue. -

The ones I saw in Adelaide were anyway. I didn't buy any but that's what the sign said. -
Hi Adam the ant Have you thought about using something like surveymonkey for this? It's easy to use and makes collation of results much easier. That and some old people here would like to help you out and give full data but don't feel like saying how old they are on a public forum. Not me of course, I'm only 7 years old... (now I'm awaiting my ban for being too young, or maybe I just left a digit off that age figure). Cheers Hewman

Thanks Brickus, I'm glad I made the effort to look at this thread before posting the exact same info. In better news at Myer I saw all Heroica sets (there are only 4 right?) in the clearance stand and they work out to about half price with the extra 30% they had off the lowest marked price. Edit: I think the Tie Fighter was $9 above RRP too, but older Star Wars sets were at RRP (sometimes $1 below) -

Is this 10% above RRP or just 10% above Big W and K-mart? If the former, that's really not a smart move by Myer. -
Wetwired, if you put the camo one up separately, I'll definitely vote for it, especially with Lucius fig!
-
That was a tough call about what to vote for, but I eventually went for the Saloon, it's unique in the Lego world in terms of style (as far as I'm aware). Do you plan to put any of the vehicles in with any of the buildings? Would the carriage go with the post office?
-
Although they're very good designs. I'm sure that Lego are more than aware of the popularity of the tumbler, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if one is already being designed for the next wave of Batman sets. The number of votes for this is unlikely to sway Lego one way or the other, also how many people are actualy saying they'd like the military patterned one? This one is unlikely to be released as a regular set, so maybe that one on its own would have made a better Cuusoo project.

Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
Hewman replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
This may have changed since yesterday but barnes and noble had it, would be less than $65 inckuding shipping. Personally I'd wait for a 20% off sale in Aus and pay $71-72, also you will probably get it sooner and definitely in better condition. -

Amazon.fr isn't too bad (compared to amazon.it) But you really need to only order high value sets to get decent shipping rates. Oh and another note to greenpaw, Barnes and Noble when they do ship are extremely slow (once dispatched, and even with mid-range shipping option) and most likely some of the boxes of the sets will be crushed to some extent. -

Greenpaw, I can almost guarantee you will not get your sets through pre-order with B&N. Around this time last year, there were big discussions of people (including me) of having the purchase on the credit card and then they unilaterally cancelled everyone's orders, they will eventually take off the payment but they are slow. This was the case for both US people and others like so many of us in Aus that purchase from overseas. To save yourself some heartache, I'd just cancel them now and keep a close eye on their website when they actually become available. The new superheroes sets were up there recently for a while until they sold out. Also if you used any sort of discount voucher they may just cancel all or part of your order with some pathetic excuse as they don't like honouring them. It may be worth your time to search for "BN" here to see if you can track down any of what went on last year. The customer service at BN is terrible, and I have no idea why they list items as pre-order when they cancel them with the most feeble of excuses. -
