Aren't Space Skulls and Star Justice supposed to be out today?
Hewman replied to KDog's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
that's crazy, that's about $160 Australian, mind you, we have to pay at elast $30 for postage for even the smallest order from Lego shop at home, so they get us that way. -
Leia...I've got a whiney brother too.

thanks Benny, but mine didn't take much creativity, I just replaced every white piece in a 6212 with the same black piece or in one case, a trans-black piece as black doesn't exist in that canopy size.

Thanks for that information. The star justice set has started to grow on me and is available now for Aussies at the very reasonable price of $130 AU. -
a whole heap of flesh heads and hands to convert my various old yellow head star wars minifigs into modern flesh tones. With all the new licenses I was able to get a great range of heads for my Hoth rebels and pilots and navigators of my various snowspeeders.

And just to add to the collection of black X-wings, here's mine http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/hewman/StarWars/6212aa.jpg

look up "918" on the bricklink catalog and click on "inv" for inventory, this will make sure you have the right pieces, and here's a link to some 918 MOCs of mine, I should update this with all the new ones I've done http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=242618

The B-wing is a set that will soon become hard to find, it's a lovely set, so I agree with the others and say gor for that one. As far as I can tell, there are still plenty of Y-wings around and places are discounting them, so they should be around for a lot longer than the B-wing.
-
You should seriously consider selling these.
-
And more for the Aussies, Myer has 20% or in some case more off Indiana Jones sets as well as the new police headquarters for less than $100. This is valid for a couple more weeks yet unless sold out first.

5 Endor 1 count Dooku 3 Snowspeeder and formerly some custom ARC speeders, with the decorated curved slope bricks from the ARC fighter set, but maaged to sell them at a price I couldn't refuse.
-
Another for Aussies, K-mart also has the Dwarves Mine set, but cheaper than everyone else, $64.99.
-
perhaps by "Death Star sets" he means not different individual sets but within all the death star 10188 (I thinks that the number) sets produced some will be lucky enough to get a silver R2, similar to the gold C-3PO promotion. Just a thought for consideration. I hope it's wrong though, I'd love multiple death star sets to connect together.

For Aussies Toys r us is having a sale on th 7665 episode 1 republic cruiser, just $120, sales starts today or tomorrow I think. My local (Adelaide) was pretty well stocked up yesterday, but at the pre-sale $150 price.

Perhaps, someone would like to set up a new poll for the worst minifig scale series, that'd get rid of Jack Stone and galidor.

Lego on their boxes seem to list almost anything as a minifig. I count battle droids and R2 units, I exclude anything that can jus tbe made up from regular lego bits without any specialist minifig part (even though R2 has pieces that similar versions of have been used in non minifig ways, he's still a minifig as the primary purpose for these pieces is to be in a minifig. Things like the mouse droid are not in my opinion a minifig. Going back to my classic space days there were robot minifigs (well bricklink lists them as such) but I don't count them as minifigs in my collection. Thanks for brining this up and letting me share my 2 cents worth.

[ By the way, has anyone in australia seen anything from the 2008 castle line, other than impulse sets, in stores? The Dwarves mine which was only at Myer is now at toys r us for $70. Can't find the defender or battle wheel or troll ship yet.

I found a nice SW collection of old sets on Ebay
Hewman replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Most of these sets have since been replaced by better versions, these are fairly early star wars sets where designs weren't as nice as they are now and this is reflected in their value. I had th eold Y-wing but as soon as I got the new one, I couldn't stand the old one. Similarly for vader's tie advanced and the slave 1. This is way overpriced as it is, so my advice, spend the moeny on newer MISB star wars sets. -
We can only list one? That's so unfair, so I'll cheat and name several contenders. The 4500 snowspeeder is a beautiful little set, the most swooshable SW set (followed by 6207 A-wing) and so sturdy. Plus you get the Hoth Rebel as well. The 4502/6212 x-wing design was a very pleasant surprise to me when I built it. jango Fett's Slave 1 is a little under-rated in my book, a beautiful ship but not the most swooshable (particularly for littler kids). And finally, I love my ties, so the 10131 tie collection, mainly for Vader's Tie Advanced.

For us Australians, it's a similar price to green grocer as the chess set includes free shipping (minimum $30 at Lego's inflated Aus shipping prices). So to get a green grocer sets you back at least $280 Aus, so works out about the same per piece as the castle chess set.
-
it says it has 31 minifigs, wouldn't we need 32 for a chess set. OK, I'm being facetious, I assume the trolls and/or horses they've also listed form some of the chess pieces and there could be a minifig or two jus tused for decorative purposes in the set. For once, us Australians have done ok for price, in relative terms that is, I'm sure it will look beautiful, but $300, no thanks.

Isn't the Tie Defender one of the sets listed to come out later this year? ALthough I've just gone to brickset, where I had seen it before and it seems to be gone now. Does anyone know why this is? Was it from some unreliable source like wikipedia?

that's really nice. I love the chunky smooth curved look of it. I can see how it would be even better if a few pieces were available in light grey where you had to use multiple pieces. What I found is a nice touch for my classic space MOCs is adding some stickers, e.g. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/hewman/9...918redwhite.jpg I got these off a guy that sells on ebay and bricklink, and they are top quality. Anyway, great work!

Buying Pirate LEGO - where to buy, advice, tips and questions
Hewman replied to Mr. Smee's topic in LEGO Pirates
I just had a look on bricklink and there are 876 parts to this set, so 85% is 745 pieces. Given this seller reckons they can estimate within 5% I'd say anything less than 80% means it is significantly less than described. From the pic, I'd say there's no way you're near 80% complete (701 pieces). Good luck, and hey, you'll find far more scrupulous people here and on bricklink than ebay.- 502 replies

Buying Pirate LEGO - where to buy, advice, tips and questions
Hewman replied to Mr. Smee's topic in LEGO Pirates
Hey I'm sorry to hear about that. I recently deregistered from ebay because of so much of this happening. can you make a claim on ebay because it was significantly not as described? Get an inventory list from bricklink and mark off all the pieces that are or aren't in what you got. My guess is it won't be near 85% complete and that is significantly different from what was described. Don't count any extra pieces that may be included if they don't form part of the ship as they're useless to you building the ship.- 502 replies
