Hi, does anyone know if the Lego shops in the respective Legoland currently has any reduces SW sets? Does it make sense to buy there or are sets generally more expensive than in a store or at Amazon?
-
Thanks for your replies. A friend of mine will got to Legoland on Saturday. I was hoping that it might be a good chance/opportunity to make a good deal; however, now that I think about it, it would not make much sense for these shops to offer discounts for successfull lines.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Brickadeer replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I received the impression that recent TCW clone minifigs (7913, 7959) have significantly more often slight misprints or inaccuracies than early TCW clone minifigs (8014, 7676). Is this correct? My second question is about the announced set 9488. Everyone seems to like the ARC Trooper. I don't understand that, because this figure simply looks awkward to me. It simply looks much worse than the phase I clone troopers, which is a bad thing, since apparently the phase II armors as shown in season 3 of TCW were obviously meant to look much cooler. Am I the only one who doesn't like the design of the ARC Trooper? -

Personally, I like the added details. I'm bothered by the overall apperance of the ARC Trooper, but that's another point. -

Thanks for the new pics! I think the design of the ARC Trooper helmet is pretty much like expected. As for the body/shoulder part, I would have prefered a complete new part as it was delivered with the Savage Opress minifig since the red epauletts look like red epaulettes, but not like the body armor worn by this guy. Plus, I don't think that the Kama looks good on this minifig. The Commando Droids on the other hand seem to look pretty good. The Sand Trooper helmets look great, while their pauldrons make the troopers look weird. They finally have printed legs, but I'm yet undecided about the "dirty look". I was hoping though that the ARF Trooper, the Scout Trooper and the Stormtrooper would come up with printed legs as well. The minifigs of 9491 to 9493 look pretty good though. -
This is great. I do not exactly what to write, but I cannot leave this one uncommented.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I generally agree. In my judgement, the major flaws of 6212 were (1) the somewhat awkward cockpit and (2) the (too) short laser cannons. I find it disappointing that no new transpartent tile for the cockpit was introduced and that the cannons are still (too) short. -
Buying a digital camera for MOC photography
Brickadeer replied to Brickadeer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for your replies so far. It seems that making photos is actually more complicated than pressing a button of a camera... The Nikon D-3100 costs roughly 2x - 2.5x the price I want to pay; I'm not sure yet that I want to spend that much (?) money on a camera. This one seemed to make good pictures: http://www.amazon.de/FinePix-S6500fd-Digitalkamera-Megapixel-Detection/dp/B000IHYS2Q/ref=sr_1_40?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1315511763&sr=1-40 But going to local seller to test some cameras seems to be a good idea. -

Thanks for reply. As a general rule, I planned with 100 - 200 Euros, but I have no idea of what is possible with such cameras. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Brickadeer replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for the pics. Like others, I'm not impressed, though. I find the ARC Trooper helmet pretty disappointing. The helmet looks pretty much like the old phase II helmet. Actually, it looks like it were combined with a black stud. The ARF Trooper has the torso of the trooper from set 8091, making me wonder if these pictures actually are not, like stated, very "pre" or a pretty good fake. And the legs are not printed, which is a step back compared to 7913 and Wolffe. The X-Wing is a huge diappointment as well since no major changes seem to have been made. edit: The Collectable Minifigures look nice, though. -
Does Lego know about Bricklink?
Brickadeer replied to Cpt. Tristan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
More important, whatever Lego does, people that want to sell their bricks remain a fact that cannot be changed, and this fact is the underlying cause for the emergence of a secondary market, if you want to call it like that. -
What's the best way to store minfigures?
Brickadeer replied to ziljin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
But if I remember correctly, the vintage figures (Kenner) smelled pretty strongly, while I have not yet realized a similar smell with the Lego figures or the bags. -
The build is awesome, and so are the pictures. At first glance, I couldn't believe that all the red and white is actually made of Lego.

Personally, the only change made by Lucas I actually like some of the digital improvements of certain scenes. I do not like the additional Mos Eisley Scenes which add a kind of humor to the films that I simply don't like. I do not like the change of the Han Solo's "stormtrooper chasing scene" in the Death Star. I do not like the new song of the Ewoks since it totally fragged up the chorus at its end. And, surprise, I do not like this "No, no!" scene. Such media should have an option whether the old or the new scenes should be shown. The media is certainly capable of that, and Lucas would avoid such problems.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Brickadeer replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I do not believe so. In the original triology, the faces of imperial troopers were never revealed. This fact is reflected by the "black stud" policy regarding troopers of the OT. The current strategy of Lego, however, is to add more details to the minifigs. This strategy is reflected by the new TIE pilot: if I remember correctly, it is the first imperial trooper (OT) that has a real face. With this minifig, Lego clearly trancends the actual content from the OT and adopts to the demands of their customers. In CW, the faces of troopers are displayed relatively often. Consequently, Lego used "real" heads right from the start and did never rely on black studs. Since the current strategy of Lego is to add more details, introducing black studs or semi-black studs would be quite a step back that is inconsistent with the overall strategy. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Brickadeer replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Lego will have to change the 7655 molds anyway since the Clone Troopers simply can't see through the helmets because the position of the hole in the helmet is too high, so it doesn't match with the position of the eyes of the head. Of course they could use black studs to solve this problem, but I don't think that this will happen. Since it will be a Clone Wars set, and since the ARC Troopers are clones, and since it can be seen as certain that Lego will use printed Clone Trooper standard heads, and since an "open visor helmet" would make visible parts of the printed standard heads which is simply not the way how ARC Troopers (or other Clone Troopers) look in the TV show, I'd say that it is quite reasonable to expect helmets with a "closed visor". I'd suppose the probability that they will make helmets with an "open visor" to be as high as the probability that the sun won't rise tomorrow: of course we can't totally exclude the possibility that it won't happen, but due to everything we know, that's not how the universe functions. To me, the more interesting question is how they will make the helmets fit to the armor: will the armor be integrated like the Snowtrooper's backpack is integrated into the helmet, or will they find another solution. If they found another solution the breathing tubes of the helmets will have to be more horizontal because otherwise it simply cannot be combined with an armor. But more horizontal breathing tubes seem to be a significant change of how the helmets look; I suppose that the significant parts of the helmets will be smaller and closer together. All in all, this seems to be an interesting problem, and I'm looking forward to see the solution. -

I supposed that it is related to the year of production since e.g. Fox, my 8014 clones and Chrome Vader have hollow studs while the recent ARF Troopers don't. Thanks for your replies, though. -

Hi, I just realized that some of the heads of my clone troopers have hollow studs while others don't. Bricklink doesn't distinguish between both parts, so I wonder if anyone has information on what sets/figs where produces with a hollow stud head and which were not. Thanks :) -

I just bought 3 ARF Troopers. They all have a misprint: a black vertical line just besides the black part of the "breathing tubes" (helmet). Furthermore, I had to realize that the torsos are of a very low quality compared to the 8014 trooper torsos: the black lines are blurry and imprecise, and the grey parts are much lighter. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I like the picture you posted here. It doesn't look so static like most buildings tend to look.

I hoped they had decided so, but Commander Wolffe has black gear, while Commander Cody (7959) has grey gear. -
