What 2016 Themes/Sets Are You Most Hyped For?
Lego_v194 replied to Chilly_Productions's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Batman v Superman minfigures and sets Doc Brown Fun Pack dimensions (mini figure and the train. I am motivated to purchase the doc brown minifigure more than the seemingly "meh train") The 66 batcave set (as mentioned in this thread) sounds tempting- 64 replies

Hello all, I signed up on this forum after reading a little bit. I barely learned some jargon of this forum such as AFOL and "dark ages". I used to be into Lego during the 1980s (~age 6-8). But I guess i hit my dark age when I turned 12. For many many years I stayed away from lego . I got back somewhat into it 2013 but gradually lost interest because the one item i wanted was retired (Emmet's small car.) What got me into it again was the coincidence of the lego dimensions release of the Back To the future set of Marty McFly + hover board + Delorean time machine and the special date of October 21, 2015. I am not a video gamer but really wanted the delorean time machine. As of now I haven't taken any steps to purchase the individual pieces but eventually will. I am starting small with the emerald express (31015) and the RV + canoe (60057). But even if I took the time to sign up on this site I still consider myself a casual AFOL because 1) I am financially struggling 2) i practice moderation so I limit my purchases to the sets I really love, and 3) I am in an uncertain living situation so buying Lego sets will be cumbersome. I keep in mind that Lego collecting is a *want* and not a *need*. So...I hope to read about great topics and hopefully contribute a little bit.

Favorite/Least favorite/most wanted licensed minifigure?
Lego_v194 replied to Zoshi's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am a pretty new AFOL after long dark age periods. I don't have a least favorite yet. But most wanted for me is DC comics' plastic man (poly bag version?). Favorite mini figure and only one I own so far is Marty McFly BC it is so rare and hence very very valuable and more expensive to replace. I grew up being a huge fan of the BTTF trilogy- 25 replies

I am lucky as there is a Lego store in Lyon, France. That's about 2 hours away from me (via train). I totally can't wait whenever I save enough money to go and shop there.

Thanks for merging...I thought it was deleted...

The future of Back to the Future
Lego_v194 replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in LEGO Licensed
I was thinking the same thing. And with the date of October 21 almost one month ago, I don't foresee any big sets..the best time to have come out with a BTTF set would've been at that date or a little before The Lego dimensions sets (71201) and the Doc Brown set coming up in January 2016 may be the only BTTF legos we will see in a while... I don't play video games but I am wilking to fork out 30 euros to purchase the 71201 set tomorrow and the Doc Brown as soon WS it comes out. -
When i was not able to access the site I thought I was banned for making the green hornet thread (maybe in the wrong forum? Actually i cannot even find it any more. Was it deleted or was it moved else where? Whatever the case, im glad it is no longer there. I don't think it drew much interest.
-
Sorry to disappoint...and accordingly no one replying indicates to me greent hornet was not and still not popular enough to warrant a set/UC's etc... Here are some ideas of mine: A black beauty within a set that includes the rotating floor that concealed underneath Britt Reid's "civilian car." Mini figures: green hornet (with hat, mask, and trench coat), kato (hat, mask, and chauffeur outfit). Britt Reid's home office with secret entry for the DA (with pull out books). Daily sentinel office of Britt Reid in civilian uniform (mini figure), with his assistant, the DA, and his co workers (all mini figures) Well that is only what I can think of.
-
Hello all, I was wondering if there are any fans of the greent hornet here. I am particularly interested in the 1966 TV show starring Van Williams and Bruce Lee. As a fan, I was super disappointed in the 2011 movie and I think the flop it was will stop any reboot (and god forbid a sequel) in the near future. And realistically there will NOT be any green hornet themed Lego sets or UCS or anything... But fornthe sake of discussion, if you had the power to do any green hornet themed sets what will it be? PS: and for those wonderingmmy screen name "v194" is the license plate ID of the black beauty (the green hornet's "rolling arsenal" which I believe was a Chrysler Imperial ~1964.

Beautifully done! You got all the prominent features present in the design of the car.

For me it was the release of the Lego dimensions level pack (71201) w/ Marty McFly + hover board + delorean. I am no gamer and for the MSRP of $30 it is pretty pricy. But I love the Back to the Future movies I will purchase it. I already did purchase the camper van + canoe (60057) and the emerald express (31015) but the 71201 set is what is keeping me an AFOL longer than previous ages.
-
I am a rookie at this and only have 2 so far. I own the camper van (60057) and the emerald express (31015). I just came out of 2 dark ages that lasted from the late 1980s to 2011. Then another from 2013 to 2015.

This is why I love this site! Where people can share their work for people like me who can enjoy seeing it.

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Lego_v194 replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Some one mentioned big scale models with lots of pieces not unlike the tumbler model. Expand on my nostalgic theme, I would love a KITT, KARR, street hawk, black beauty from green hornet, more batmobiles (even the Adam west version), the A team truck, the magnum Ferrari, starsky&hutch red car (ford Torino?), dolerean from back to the future (better than the cuusoo version), the automan Lamborghini, the fall man pick up truck, etc...basically any car/vehicle from a TV show/movie made into a large, realistic model.- 451 replies

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Lego_v194 replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me it will be nice to see a nostalgic theme section or franchise in Lego like a Knight Rider set with Michael Knight, KITT, the foundation semi, KARR, with all the mini figures able to fit into KITT and KARR. Same with Air wolf, Street Hawk, the Green Hornet (1966 and not the 2011 movie). As you may tell I am a Lego fan second to the aforementioned TV series.- 451 replies

To answer OP, Lego is most definitely not dying. I can say this as a person who just came back from a dark age. The products are better than what I remembered from 1980s especially w/ the collaborations of star wars, DC/Marvel superheroes, and the current Lego dimensions crossovers, etc... Lego is on the rise more than it is falling. They have the older demographics such as the nostalgic people (including yours truly) but they also bring together the fans from the above mentioned franchises.

Batman v Superman dawn of justice sounds tempting. Along with the Lego sets that will come with the film. Many pics leaked online and the generous teaser (or trailer) is convincing me to see this at a theater.

I am currently teaching myself precalculus to keep my brain occupied. Basic to advanced algebra and trigonometry is what I am focusing on. I still watch my batman the brave and the bold DVDs

Thanks everybody! I look forward to reading this forum Learn lot.

What was your first lego set?
Lego_v194 replied to Chilly_Productions's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Same as above quote but replace the 8039 set with set 5766 (small log cabin) i purchased in march 2011. I ended up selling it because I lost interest again (after a dark age starting in the late 1980s). Dark age 2011 to 2015. Early of September 2015 I bought set 60057 (RV + canoe) and on October 29, 2015 I got the emerald express (31015). One regret: not purchasing the Lego dimensions back to the future level pack (Marty McFly + hover board + delorean) on October 21, 2015. As evidenced by another thread I asked a link that would provide me with an inventory of the pieces necessary to build a delorean as sold in the Lego dimensions pack. I gave up on doing it that way and instead i will buy it for the $30 price (71201). -
Delorean from Lego Dimensions (71201)
Lego_v194 replied to Lego_v194's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I haven't yet. Obviously you are recommending that site? Edit: I just checked out that site and yes it was super helpful! Thank you dr_spock! -
Hi everyone, I guess I am getting to where the primary reason as to why I registered on this site and I honestly didn't know on which sub forum to ask this question. I mentioned this in my other posts but I am asking the members here directly. I really like the Delorean from the Lego Dimension pack (Back To The Futute /Marty McFly Edition) I did download the PDF version of the instructions from the Lego site. However I don't think the Pick a Brick part of the store is available for shipping to France (where I currently live.) But right now that's a lesser concern as I am having a devil of a time trying to track the names of all ~57-59 pieces necessary to make the Delorean. So my questions are has anyone try to do the same thing as me but unlike me managed to get the entire inventory list of the Lego pieces to complete the Delorean? And which sites would you recommend for purchasing those parts? (I found brick owl dot com that has many of the Deloran parts but not all. And the Lego site does have many parts too) Please help me

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
Lego_v194 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I started to read the first 3 pages and noticed Batman the brave and the bold got a lot of mentions but in 2015 I still enjoy this show via DVD. I haven't seen the 3rd season yet as it is not available in France yet. Since that show I honestly haven't watched anything else. Before that JLU and Batman beyond were amongst my favorites as a young adult. But for me the 80s were the peak of my anime/cartoon watching. There are just too many to mention as I could name a few but could forget to mention some others. Off the top of my head: Zodiac knights (saint Seiya), challenge of the gobots (which I appreciate more than transformers), dragon ball, M.A.S.K., Jayce & the wheeled warriors, bioman, Gavan (X-OR in France), the list goes on and on...good times...
