Worm gear nut alternative #1
schraubedrin replied to oracid's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't understand your question. Could you be more specific. I'm sorry, i meant whether this construction used the exact geometry of the parts or if the flex of the plastic is necessary for this to work. I just tested it (see image below) and wasn't able to put an axle through when no flex is possible. But that's just a tiny nitpick of my inner purist I still like the compactness of your solution and how perfect the 8t gears fit in there. -

Nice and compact solution. Is it in system? I thought the worm gear is a little bit bigger than one stud... -

[MOC] Rugged supercar - Hammerhead (1:9 scale) - Revisiting
schraubedrin replied to Didumos69's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What an awesome project. I love that it's build "in system" I support the idea of single-beam doors. For the lbg axles in the hood: how about replacing them with some kind of "art" out of different colored 2L axle connectors? Did you post some renderings of the back of the car?- 632 replies

42009 vs 8043
schraubedrin replied to jotta93's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'd also take 8043, it has good playability and modability. personally, i liked the build of 8043 more than 42009. -

If it was licensed, there would have been Pictures of the real vehicle on the box as with the Arocs, Volvo, BMW, .. But i'd say it's clearly inspired by the Ripsaw -

The B-model instructions with sketches from the design process reminded me of the instructions of 8445 I would love for this concept to come alive again -

And i just realized that those can't even pitch up Although one might hope that they combined the functions of the ailerons and elevators in the same control surfaces with some fancy linkages -

[MOC] EV3 Koenigsegg Regera (1:10)
schraubedrin replied to TheMindGarage's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The adjustability of the chassis is awesome, i haven't seen anything like this before. I like how you managed to create a somewhat rounded shape with basically rectangular pieces. Can you explain the torque vectoring a little bit further? From the pictures it seems as if the vectoring motors have to turn for the car to move.- 14 replies

This is a beautiful piece of engineering. I love how you managed to isolate each of the three rotations. I think i saw something comparable to this in a big technic spaceship wip moc, that got cancelled, does anybody remember it?- 34 replies

The rear swing is an ingenious construction. I guess it took them some time to find a design incorporating bevel gears while being strong enough to support the bike. Have you seen the "40 years" print on the top of the box? it seems there's some kind of part ..? -

This project looks promising. I like that you included pneumatic connection points at the end. Am i seeing it correctly, that you're not using LEGO System parts, not even at the battery box? Maybe some kind of cable carrier for the tubing? http://www.alterous.com/products/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/mini0180_20_1.jpg- 40 replies

4-Speed RC Sequential Transmission with Stepper Shifter
schraubedrin replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
what a nice and compact shifter, great design. Did you use half beams to prevent jams? concerning the old wheel that broke: There's something wrong with the plastic, nearly all of mine are broken too. I contacted the Customer Service and they gave me the new version of the 18mm Wheel from the 42040 Fireplane.
