LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

I don't mean to be rude, fallenagel327, but not everyone shares your belief that the Clone Wars is stupid/worthless. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that others wont. In fact there is probably a huge market for the Clone Wars right now, the kids (Lego's main buyers) watch the TV show weekly and are familiar with ships that appear often and love to build a model of them in Lego (presuming that these are the kid you like Lego and Star Wars of which there are plenty). The Clone Wars provides us and Lego with a seemingly endless stream of new ships with interesting and innovative designs. The new Clone Wars ships aren't worse then the current OT/PT sets that are currently coming out. Just because they're new ships, doesn't mean that they're bad because they haven't been redone into oblivion. They're made with the same advances in design that all current sets have. I know there are many OT fans who are annoyed that those sets are taking a back seat and I understand that, but the Clone Wars provides new material and opportunities for new designs, pieces, and minifigures (even if you hate the eyes, you've got to admit that the design and printing are getting better all the time). Sorry for the rant-like-thing, but this stuff annoys me. On another note, I am not familiar with the Advent Calendars (I don't celebrate Christmas), but I thought that every day you made only one item or figure. (correct me if I'm wrong) Also, if you know the average minifig and/or piece counts of previous calendars, we may be able to reasonably predict things for this one. For instance, is it smaller or lager in piece count? Or maybe it's average...I'm guessing there will be some exclusive figure. I wonder who/what it is. Lastly, as for these assumptions of new huge exclusives I think a Cloud City, Jabba's Sail Barge or Palace would be awesome. Though isn't there a possibility that it's either the Naboo fighter or the Hoth Echo base? For the Jabba's Sail Barge or Palace (as it's high time they remade one of these) I think one of the major faults of the previous Sail Barge was A. lack of space, and B. the hatch to below-decks lead to nowhere (didn't go through). It was also a bit small and Jabba was...well...kind of boringly blank. He needs a remodel or at least a reprint. Plus then we'd have an adequate father for awesome little Rotta the Hutt!
  2. True, an hour long episode might drag out, so I guess we should be satisfied. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view), the 22min format makes the existence of multi-episode-story-arcs more important, and the single episodes seem less developed. On another note, seeing the previews for the 2nd half of this season, I'm really excited for the one where Ashoka is possesed or something and attacks Anakin. It looks really interesting. I also can't wait to see Saesee Tinn (spelling??) in action. And possibly more Embo!! He was really cool IMO.

    Cad Bane's Coruscant Speeder

Ahhh... that makes sense. Cool idea. I just noticed the head and neck as well are gray. I always thought the Lego assassin droid was lacking in the accuracy department.
  4. I agree, the time is way too short. It really bugs me. Especially with these recent ones because it's like: okay now Ventress has an evil giant magic-manipulated ally working for Count Dooku...what's next. He just killed some people and we have to wait a week to see the Jedi's reaction! Also this cuts into battle scenes as others mentioned. Landing at Point Rain, though, is proof that a decent battle (or portion of) can be expertly portrayed in a 22 min format. I'm hoping for more like that.

    Cad Bane's Coruscant Speeder

Oh, I didn't know that. Sorry. I wish Lego made a set like this, a personal speeder used by the average Joe. Kind of like the small car and sports car are for Lego City. I'm loving the look of this. I liked it in the show and love your Lego version of it. If you wanted to improve this just a tad (though not really necessary, probably a bit of work for not much. though it'd be more accurate) you could situate the seats closer to the middle, they're a bit far back. Though this was a problem with Luke's Landspeeder too, so it might be a bit difficult. Also, what's up with the assassin droid's left hand in the 1st pic?? It's gray. Any particular reason, or just lack of parts?

    Cad Bane's Coruscant Speeder

Just so you know, all episodes are on StarWars.com for a while. Also on Cartoonnetwork.com, but they have less.

    Cad Bane's Coruscant Speeder

Yes, one of his speeders is a Coruscant speeder which is loosely based on the Coruscant Taxi, but this is a private speeder used by various people including Ione Marcy, Padme, and is seen randomly ridden by various background characters. Cad Bane just happens to use this speeder to capture C-3po in Evil Plans, and then transfer him to the Coruscant one. As for the HTML, I have no idea. They only appeared after I posted. I managed to delete them though.

    Cad Bane's Coruscant Speeder

It's not supposed to be a Corusant Taxi, it looks like it's this personal speeder(though correct me if I'm wrong) Great MOC!!

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

Ohhhh. That makes more sense. Thanks. Wait, were'd you see that. Is the preview up online?? I didn't see it yesterday. Edit: Just checked Cartoon Network and it's there. Interesting...
  10. Someone like Onaconda Farr?? He was in several episodes before he was killed. Of course it's weird because he still appears in episodes that take place before Senate Murders. On a different note, I think this season is really elaborating on the stories and motives behind the characters. We see Ahsoka grow up, Ventress explained, and we dive deeper into the mysteries of the Sith. All in all a very exciting season. I'm really excited for the remainder of the season (the preview was super cool). The possessed Ahoska looks creepy, though I'm unsure of the Vampire-like-dude that looks like he can block lightsabers with his arms (if that actually is the same person).

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

Though I'll admit it would be nice to have more variety in characters, I think that Asajj in her new outfit is essential. Naa'Leth would be nice, but I think Mother Talzin would be better (though less likely due to her excessive amount of robes). If, for some weird reason, Lego decides that Anakin and Ventress don't need new outfits, then the value of this set goes down (though it's still worth it for Savage). I'm also wondering why Anakin's in it at all. He isn't even in the episode. Maybe they battle later, but I'm going to guess they wanted someone for Savage or Ventress to fight.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

These new images look great! Queen Anne's Revenge looks very impressive. I wonder about the rumored 'Black Pearl'. Hopefully we'll get more pics soon as well as more info (price and description-wise). Looking forward to getting these once they come out in May. Can't wait for more/clearer/bigger pics!

    Harry Potter 2011 Discussion

I know many of you have these huge ecsepcetations for the Battle for Hogwarts, but if you look at the age range it's only 7-14 not 14+ or 16+ as most Death Star/Huge sets usually are. Sorry, but even though I too hope for a huge and elaborate battle, it''s not realistic and probably wont happen. Hope to be proven wrong though!

    [Review] 8092 Luke's Landspeeder

Great and extensive review. I own this set, and I have to admit it doesn't look exactly like the movie version, but it's a decent set with cool figures at a moderately cheap (as Legos go) price. I too found that the gray tubes were easy to insert, but I had to bend them into the general shape before inserting them (when I tried bending it as I put it in, the piece holding it in/back would pop out. Enjoy you speeder! -Cad Bane

    Review: 7931 Jedi T-6 Shuttle

Great Review! Love this set. The colors, the shape... It's unfortunate that they didn't pattern the underside as the ship is meant to spin (displaying both sides). Hopefully some will provide an easy solution to the cockpit problem. It's really supposed to fit four people and it should. If not, then I'll have to figure it out myself when I get it. On another note, can Shaak Ti sit down (in a chair or on the ground)? It doesn't look like she can, it would appear that her (not sure what to call them) head-tail-things stretch below the waist. Thanks, -Cad Bane

    Review: 8129 AT-AT

I don't know about this set. When I first saw this set I thought that it was ugly and would not get it, besides I already have the motorized one. Your review however, made the set look cool. In comparison, it would appear that this AT-AT is more accurately proportioned than the motorized one and is more realistic. However, I really dislike Luke's Whip it doesn't work (looks wise). I may just have to pass on this set though. So many other good ones (that I don't have), plus I have got to save money for Padme (really the Sith Infiltrator, but it's really all about Padme, she's long overdue!)

Review: 7929 The Battle of Naboo

Great review! Can't wait to get this myself. I'll probably MOD it to include more droids, though probably not as extensive as Legoman's.

    [MOC] Lightsabre

Wow! Amazing work! I think a detachable blade would be cool, but might be hard to pull off. I definitely agree that some black would enhance the look as well as make the chrome stand out more. Great Job. Display your masterpiece proudly! -Cad Bane

    Your Lego Christmas Haul Thread

I got a decent year of Legos for Chanukah (though I purchased some with a little aid of my own money): -Cad Bane's Speeder -Luke's Landspeeder -Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser (currently shipping. Can't Wait!) All in all, I've had better years but this year was pretty good! Welcome to 2011, a whole new year and a whole lot more Legos!

    HogWars

More characters could include some kind of mix between Umbridge and Ventress. Though it looks like you're mainly sticking with OT, so that might not work. Also, once Pirates of the Caribbean comes out you may be able to work that in with Star Wars.

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

It doesn't really look all that different than his normal hair-piece, maybe a little smoother, but I don't think they'd change that. On the other hand, I am desperately hoping that they change both his and Ventress' outfits. They both have new dress in the new episodes, and they should get new Lego outfits. Hopefully that will change in the final version.

    What did you buy today?

Just ordered the Venator through Amazon/Target @ $101.98 (just missed the 89ish price.) Can't wait!
  24. Embo and Sugi are two bounty hunters in the Clone Wars TV series. Their Lego versions both appear in the Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship. For me, I'd have to say that Shaak Ti is by far the best. Although Embo and the ARF trooper were close seconds. (Ki-Adi-Mundi would be on there too, but the pics are still unclear. Can't wait to see the final product though!)

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

Is it just me, or does the new Watto have short legs. That would make Obi-Wan the only tall person in the set! Everyone else is short-legged. About Cody...If it is him in the Geonosis fighter, than nothing has been changed. At least not yet. It's probably Cody as it looks so much like him. No helmet change though, it even looks as though is visor is gray not black. (like Capt. Rex in Battle for Geonosis) Hopefully we can get a better look at the other figures in that set. (Ki-Adi-Mundi and the Geonosian)
