LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

I'm pretty sure that it's a two sided head which is a relief because that face is a bit too...er...shall we say "cartoon-ish". In fact, a large number of heads are going to be reversible. I am very happy that young Obi-wan is among them. His happy face is awkward, but the other side is pretty good. Lego seems to be increasing the amount of back printing, leg printing, and two-sided head printing this year.

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

Just found this on StarWars.com. It's a book about Lego, but I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it. Sorry if this has been posted already, I haven't seen it though. But with all the recent activity, I may have missed it.

Wow that's a lot of posts! Great new pics! The Millennium Falcon is a disappointment. And I was so excited for it. I had missed the last ones and was hoping for this one to be great. Too bad. The rest look decent. Podracers are a HUGE improvment along with the figures in that set. The Sith Nightspeeder is okay, but it's a must get (for those who like TCW) for the figures mainly. Eeth Koth still has a someone-dumped-pudding-over-his-horns look, Leia looks messed up, Quinlan Vos could use a bit of work although he's not bad, but the rest of the figures are amazing! I am so happy that Savage's yellow prelim horns turn back to black. Also, I believe that Captain Panaka has a two sided face, one scared (squiggly mouth) and one normal.

    UCS NU-class Republic Attack Shuttle

That's amazing! Nice work cavegod! Wow those models are huge. Can't wait for the final shots (and larger pictures and/or close ups) after the final tweaking. This is extremely impressive. Keep up the spectacular work.

No. His name is Savage Opress who recently appeared in the Nightsisters Trilogy (who may or may not have a connection to Maul, that is yet to be seen). BTW, all the names of the figures are in the first post. (I'm assuming that you're talking about the Dathomir Speeder, sorry Sith Nightspeeder. Stupid name change makes no sense...)

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

I was just thinking. Isn't it odd that Ventress' torso print is of an outfit that she wears for about half an episode and by the time she gets on the speeder and fights Savage and the Jedi, she's in her Nightsister garb. (Now I know that she appears in this outfit in many other materials, but I was under the impression that the main focus was TCW) I'm not complaining though, it's nice to have her with a new print. Not only is there now variety, but the other version remains exclusive and it stays true to the show (kinda).

Isn't that just the UCS MF?? That looks WAY too big to be the one we're getting this summer. EDIT: Whoops! Looks like a lot of people beat me to it. I need to refresh the page more and I guess I took too long in posting... Heres a pic of the Sith Infiltrator figures from the video on that site (I know most people have seen it, but here's the pic anyway. It's tiny, but whatever...)

Yes, in fact there are pictures of Ewok Attack and the Falcon as well. All credit goes to kris kelvin. I was merely referencing them. In no way did I mean to take credit, I was just pointing out what I noticed. On another note...wow the Dathomir Speeder, sorry Sith Nightspeeder has a freakish number of stickers. It's a bit too much I'm afraid. Hopefully we'll get lucky and some will be printed, but I highly doubt it. (this title change is weird as the speeder isn't used by Sith, [just a previously-Sith-assassin and a soon-to-be-Sith-apprentice] but by the people of Dathomir, the Nightbrothers and Nightsisters.)

Is it just me or are Savage's front horns yellow. This picture clearly depicts him with black horns all 'round, but this one doesn't. It would appear that he has yellow horns. Fingers crossed that that is preliminary.
  10. Soooo torn. Whom to choose... while I originally thought Shaak Ti was the best, in light of recent pics...Savage, Watto, Maul, and Commander Wolffe are top notch too. I think I'll go with Maul! His new horns are fabulous and the figure is stunning. Don't worry, the rest of them came in a close second. This year's minifigs are really detailed. Well done Lego!

    Chibi Yoda and DJ Clonie

Wow! Cool. Yoda's looking young! I think dancing shaved off a couple years! Nice job on the figures, they are really neat. I was wondering, what does "Chibi" mean? I know that FBTB had a Chibi contest were the vehicles had to be smaller but still fit the actual figures, and the there's this which is titled with "Chibi". I am very confused. Could anyone clear that up? Thanks.

The advent calendar looks kind of... meh. The RGS is okay, the sides and wings are bland but great for that scale. The Slave I looks great from the mid-point up, but the noes bit is weird. Also, I find it odd that we are going to get both a brickmaster (or whatever the new thing is) version and a mini version (in the calendar) of the Slave I. The minifigures look decent (though I already have them save for the anonymous rebel). Hope for more pictures soon.

I think that we all agree that the Podracer set has the technic beams, but what's the other one? My guess is one of the bigger sets like the Consular or the Falcon.
  14. I know for a fact that Saesee Tinn has another appearance as a larger character with lines (it was in the season three 2nd half preview) so he'll be back. The commandos I'm not so sure of. It seems that Filoni likes them, but I have no idea if they'll be back. Hope so though, they're pretty cool.

    Star Wars LEGO Photography

These shots are amazing. Congratulations to everyone! You're great photographers. Wish I was that good. Still, this inspires me to try some myself! (though I might not post them here until they are of good enough quality and I find the time to do them...) Keep up the amazing work, we all appreciate it. Truly magnificent shots!

Unfortunately, it would seem that sales on the UCS Jedi Starfighter have picked up during the sale as (in the US) it's gone back up to $99.99. Still, this is obviously not one of Lego's best selling items and hopefully they wont make the same mistake again.
  17. He's supposedly one of the nightbrothers. Maybe she has ties... It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. In the meantime, I am very excited for the Mortis Episodes! On another note, a moment of silence for King Katuunko. I thought his character was decent (kinda like Onocanda Farr, funny how they both end up dead) and he got expanded a bit recently. I wonder who'll take his place. Will they be sympathetic with the Republic or Separatists. We'll have to find out.

Star Wars: OT vs. PT vs. TCW

All I meant was that in response to the "ANH was the best and the rest of the episodes and the Clone Wars would never have existed/ruined everything" comments, that over all, they are more important than the secondary EU material (that is less known than the actual movies and main book offshoots). These other books now describe what could have been, and if you like it better, you could follow that vision rather than Lucas'. I don't mind that they're contradictory, it's still Star Wars. We'll all have our favorites, and mine just happens to be the movies and the Clone Wars.
  19. Well, this is interesting. Not only do we get Qui-Gon, but a possible Darth Maul as well (for more info watch "Witches of the Mist"). I think that this whole Ventress revenge plot was set up so that Mother Talzin could give Maul either revenge or an apprentice. We shall see how this plays out... The Mortis episodes look intriguing. I can't wait to see Ahsoka's decision. The Commandos and Tinn just get a brief part/preview in this episode (which is too bad) but I expect to see them again soon.

Yah. and then there's this Darth Maul thing... They implied he may appear to train Savage at a later date.

Star Wars: OT vs. PT vs. TCW

I will not get into this which-movie-is-best argument because I appreciate and will continue to enjoy Star Wars as a six movie saga, not one movie with two sequels and three prequels (that may or may not "ruin" the original). Because no matter what you'd like to believe, Vader is Luke's father and he once was an innocent little boy. It is this story which display’s the true abusiveness of evil, and how much disregard it has for life and happiness. I really think that the prequels show just how much work Sidious put into his master plot and how he sacrifices his apprentices'. Now moving on... I guess I could explain why I like the Clone Wars. It is an entertaining show that fills the gap between the movies and provides a weekly dose of Star Wars. It's just fun. There are new characters and ships that get introduced (though some don't like that) and we see characters that got only seconds of screen time expanded. Also, after dabbling in animation, I appreciate this from that standpoint. The improvement of the animation through the seasons is very visible and an immense accomplishment. It's probably has some of the best animation on TV. The negatives of the show are minor. Yes, sometimes it messes with the storyline a bit, but overall, it doesn't change anything important. (AKA the actual movies, yes it may contradict some books, but that's moderately on the obscure side and isn't a huge deal) The biggest blip that has come along is of course the ever hated Ahsoka (whom I think is decent) because of the fact that Anakin's apprentice is never mentioned in the movies. (Hopefully that will be resolved by some tragic death that they don't want to talk about or something like that...) Unfortunately, it has just come to my attention that the late Qui-Gon Jinn is appearing in the CW in the upcoming episode arc (along with CW commandos but that’s another story). This IMO is a bit too far-fetched as (even though he's a ghost) it contradicts directly from the movie where Obi-Wan is astonished to hear that Yoda heard from Qui-Gon etc. Maybe it is at this point that the Jedi learn the new art (Qui-Gon may have learned it on this new planet) I'll have to watch and find out. I only hope that it resolves itself somehow. Because Obi-Wan talking to Qui-Gon ghost is pushing the limit. I still enjoy the show, but I hope that is doesn't mess thing up. I have a good feeling though that this will be resolved.

Star Wars: OT vs. PT vs. TCW

Okay, I have to say as a CW fan that yes the movie and most of the first season were well...stupid. The second season was good for a TV show and had (for the most part) decent story-lines. The 3rd season is great! It gives characters complexity and adds new depth and motives. Recently we learned that Count Dooku wants to overthrow his master. This may attribute to the fact that he doen't regret disposing him in ROTS. Plus, contrary to what you said, they are real Star Wars and it's very insulting to those who like the entire saga as a story rather than praising mainly OT and shunning the rest. I forget who commented that it's destroying the previously set cannon and screwing up the EU. Quite the opposite in fact. It has every right to create its own stories (George Lucas ultimately has to approve of everything) as it is a higher cannon than the stuff that it's messing up. The cannon can not be one of your issues with TCW because it is an ill-founded complaint. Another comment was that TCW is all happy go lucky and Anakin shows no sign of his inner "beast". And while this is true for the first and some of the second seasons, parts of the 2nd and all-ish of the 3rd show that Anakin has a darker entity that he struggles with. In the Geonosis arc, he begins to show that he can't let go of his attachments to his loved ones (in this case his padawan) and is willing to kill innocent beings to save one life. This forshaddows him joining the Dark Side to save Padme. We find out how the civilians suffer in the war (a very realistic subject not much mentioned in Star Wars) and as we move further into the season, the episodes protray a much darker war. Lastly, yes, the acting in the prequels is meh. Especially Hayden's (Anakin) who is unable to display any realistic emotion. Casting FAIL in that case, eccept little Annie he was kinda cute/innocent. Padme and Obi-Wan on the other hand are play by very capable actors. (though I'm not sure that you can compete with Harison Ford...) And I must say that my favorite Star Wars movie is a tie between ROTS and ROTJ. I love the Order 66 scenes and the epicness of the battles they really make you feel for the dead jedi...very sad scene. ROTJ is a much lighter film but brings the story to a close nicely. My favorite parts are the Jabba scenes and the ending battle of Endor.

Star Wars: OT vs. PT vs. TCW

Ahh.... That does seem to be a problem with the previous two seasons of the most recent CW, but if you watch you'll notice that this season the bad guys win in more and more episodes. I think that that is more realistic, but now instead of complaining about good guys winning so much, some are complaining that the bad guys are winning too much now and the story is getting too dark...go figure! Guess you can't please everyone, can you? I do like the new darkness of the CW as it's more realistic, but with all the choking and stabbing and killing in these last few episodes, I sort of understand where the "it's too dark" people are coming from. sort of...

Star Wars: OT vs. PT vs. TCW

Well I myself am an interesting story/character... I do like the Clone Wars and get annoyed with the constant hating as it is an enjoyable TV show that improves with every season and embellishes the huge gap in between the movies. On the other hand, I love the movies. I enjoy PT for the amazing scenes made possible by modern technology. While PT, IMO, brings the whole thing together with an amazing plot of love and betrayal (though the Actor who played Anakin really can NOT show emotion...I don't even bother remembering his name), OT brings in a more simple yet equally enjoyable plot and brings the story full circle. (which is weird because when you think about it, the PT really made the OT make more sense/have more value and importance so I find it odd that OT fans dislike the PT since they benefit eachother so much. [i wonder why???]) In Lego form though, I think I'd have to lean towards the PT and CW side of things as they have much cooler ships (and more of them) plus many more characters. On another note, I have many times heard that the old CW 2-D cartoon is better than the new one. My question is why? I've only seen pictures/stills of the old one and the characters are laughable. They look ridiculous! And yet people praise it and hate on the new series for it's animation, which IMHO far surpasses that of many of the current TV shows and most certainly the 2-D CW one. In addition to the awesome look and animation, I think the writers (lead by Geogre Lucas' ideas) have created excellent characters and an interesting story to follow. Another oddity of mine is that, unlike most, I don't dislike Jar Jar and Ahsoka. I find Jar Jar odd but moderately funny and I think Ahsoka is a feisty little padawan with much to learn and adds some interesting relationships to the show. We see a possible love interest (maybe...see "Heroes on Both Sides" for more info. watch it it's pretty good for a senate episode) and hints that she might know that there is a little more to Padme and Anakin's relationship than meets the eye... (and a this point we haven't even seen the Mortis episodes which add even more depth supposedly to Ahsoka) Edit: Another thing that makes PT better than OT slightly is the music. I myself play lots of movie scores on the piano and the ones from PT are much more moving and dramatic/provoke more emotion than the scores from OT. Just thought I'd point that out.
