Boths MOC's are really nice! The amount of inspiration that Cafe Corner is giving out is outstanding. I really like the interior detail in there. *y* :-D

LDD 2.0 up and running

Oops pardon the typo. :-P Yeah it's quite easy to confuse, especially if you're purely using the FX moniker. :-) -
LDD 2.0 up and running
Mr Hobbles replied to Holodoc's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
If I'm not mistaken it's the Quatro's are the ones made for CAD applications...FX cards are about four generations old now, superceded by the 6800's, 7800's, and now 8800's... Regardless though I'm surprised this card cant run it considering it's age, I run LDD2.0 on a laptop with a 1.6Ghz processor, 512MB RAM and Intel integrated graphics and it's very smooth. I would think there's something wrong with your setup that's causing it to run like that...? :-/ -
I cannot wait. Seriously. I want the train station, the fuel station, the dump truck with trailer, the refuse collector truck, and the cement mixer truck. The port would be nice to have too but it doesn't have a place in my town plans as of late. Oh man I'm gonna be soo broke. :'-(

Hey guys, I'm Nathan, 22 years old and from Scotland. I haven't played LEGO in a long time (Probably since I was like 16 or something), but the other day I was bored and checked out the LEGO.com site and saw Cafe Corner. It was calling out to me, honest! I think I'm gonna start really getting back into the hobby. :) I'm mainly a city/trains person. I liked the Islanders sets a good, I dunno, 10 years ago? Also the Western theme. But since seeing Cafe Corner I want to take a more realistic view to my town building. I want Cafe Corner to be just a corner in a little town, where all the other buildings are built by myself and look really realistic. Wish me luck, it'll be my first time... Just bought my first set in a long time from Argos (7945 Fire Station) to see if I like it, and now I've just put a massive dent in my wallet on Shop@Home. :D LEGO has definently changed a bit! I love the size of the fire engine, and some of the building methods are very different to what I imagine LEGO doing back in the day. I like! Anyway, I've bored you enough... :) Cheers, Mr Hobbles / Nathan

Never played it personally, but a friend of mine bought the first one today at GAME (2 for

Three years of guesting?! I only guested for a day or two! Some patience! Anyway, welcome!

Third year uni student here, in the UK too, what are y'all studying? :-) I'm personally studying Web Design & Development and a Cisco CCNA. I know the feeling about cash to buy LEGO with. :-( I remember the Aquaraiders, I had a few of those sets before my "dark ages". Had a big yellow sub and a couple of the smaller sets. Personally I've moved onto the town city sets now... Anyway, welcome to Eurobricks. It's a really nice community. :-P Nathan

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Mr Hobbles replied to DoubleT's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I didn't dislike the second one, in fact I thought it was quite good. Just not as good as the first. I'm deliberately trying to avoid the trailers for the third so I'll be nicely surprised. :-P -
Hey guys, I'm trying to get to grips with Bricklink, I want to purchase some parts for a new MOC, and this will be my first time using it. My question is, is there a trick to it? For example, everything seems to come from different sellers and they all charge postage. So if I need four windows at $0.13 each, that's $0.52, but then the seller adds like another $5 postage ontop and it's just not worth it. Then ten red bricks at $0.06 from a different seller, but that then seller charges his own $4 postage. I'm spending almost 10x more on postage than on bricks! Since I'm in the UK, can anyone recommend any good sellers that sell a wide range of things? Or am I just using Bricklink wrong. Cheers, Nathan

Ok, cheers guys. Some good tips I'll use in the future. Thanks. :-)

Currently I'm working on a Lego City Bank on the same baseplate style as Cafe Corner, with tiles for the sidewalk and modular features. I'm planning it in MLCAD before I build it. It's loosely based of a picture I found on the internet of a building (A bank?) on Fifth Avenue in New York. I've only currently got as far as the first floor, but it's coming on methinks. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=242301 (Public now)

I personally think it looks fine, it doesn't look too large and the details seem ok. Although I must agree about the huge black base curtain piece, it's a bit...rubbish... There used to be a blue and white Technik hovercraft back in the day which had curtains which could be made just about any way you want. Why did LEGO abandon those pieces? :-(
-
I completely agree with this. Even though I'm only recently back into the hobby, I've discovered that in the last few years LEGO has focussed on the services like Fire, Emergency, Police, and Airport. Some normal houses, restaurants and petrol stations (Hurrah LEGO!) would not go amiss, and it's the reason that I love Cafe Corner and the new Octan Petrol Station so much.

Me too, especially since November 5th is my birthday. :-D

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

Very nice, I like it a lot. The orange inflatable rubber lifesaving thingy that's attached to the end of the pier...is this an actual LEGO piece specifically designed for this? Or is it just a normal circle piece...
-
Just curious, but the brick that's added in step 10, won't that stop the doors from sliding in and out? Doesn't that defeat the point, ie. a retracting cover?
-
Very nice. Reminds me of the new Creator houses.

Has anyone seen Hot Fuzz yet? I've been to see it twice in the cinema, am possibly going to see it a third time, and I've watched the trailer on Apple.com countless times. Awesome movie, every time I watch it I laugh even harder!

I really cant wait until this set arrives in my mail. The only thing holding the order back is the Street Sweeper and it's making me really antsy! Come on Shop@Home! All those bricks...drool. So beautiful.

I've voted Wii as it's the only one out of the three that I own. The system is brilliant (The Wii remote is genius), the games, while few and far between at the moment, are awesome, and Virtual Console almost brings a tear to my eye (Super Mario Bros!) I do plan on getting a 360 at some point, as soon as the new model with HDMI and the 120GB HDD comes out. Not interested in the PlayStation3 at the moment - although PlayStation Home and Little Big Planet look fantastic.

Just watched Casino Royale, mainly because I'd just bought it on DVD. Before that, I saw Naked Gun, which I haven't seen in years. Brilliant movie. Also I think I'm going to see Hot Fuzz for the third time, I love this movie. It gets funnier everytime I watch it!

LEGO theme in the bbc coverage of the budget
Mr Hobbles replied to stan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hmmm, kind of disappointed I didn't see it now, although I never ever watch anything like that. Was it cgi LEGO or actual LEGO which they had built and filmed? -
French Toy Fair 2007 : the pictures !
Mr Hobbles replied to brickerik's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Aha, I had seen those in BrickJournal but I thought they were simply prototypes for 10182 which didn't make the cut. To be honest the only one I remotely like out of the three is the bank on the far right. Cheers oo7. *sweet*
