Hehe, I was wondering how many people would get it. Your chocolate chip cookie is in the mail. ;-) Oh by the way, if anyone wants to see the animation go to http://www.endofworld.net/

That IS stunning. It makes me want to buy some of the new 2007 Castle sets then attempt something like this.

I just built my first LEGO train set today, the 4512 Cargo Train, and I am very pleased with my choice. My next one will hopefully be 10001 Metroliner. :-D Anyway, back on point. After about 15 minutes of playing with the assembled train, I took a screwdriver to the bottom of the train regulator to take a look at the electrics inside. I was surprised by the simplicity of it. 8-

Ahh I see, so instead of changing the resistor, it adds more onto a resistor chain. This makes sense. I take it PWM works pretty much the same way as pulse jet engine, ie. instead of a constant low speed force, it's several spaced pulses of a higher speed. I'm not all that interested in model railways, I just want slightly smoother train operation. I'm considering heading home and fetching my Dad's old 12v model railway controller, it should do the trick. Although I might still make that modification to the LEGO controller. :-) Thanks for the info! :-D

What Series do you wish Lego never made
Mr Hobbles replied to V()()D()()'s topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow I didn't even know about this, but a quick search on BrickSet revealed this! Must...buy... I still think it would be good if LEGO made an entire Formula 1 theme though, all with licensed cars. :-) -
#10 - Wii Sports (Wii) Ever since I bought my Wii this has been the most played game on it. It's a hit with both family and friends (Sons, daughters and grandparents alike!), and never gets old. Can be very competitive and it's easy to get very worked up. Also good for drinking games. :-D #9 - Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) The best Sonic game ever in my opinion. Possibly the only 3D Sonic that was done right. #8 - Grand Theft Auto London (PSone) Not necessarilly the best GTA, but the one that gave me the most enjoyment. It had so much charm and seemed so familiar. Not to mention the fantastic humour! #7 - Unreal Tournament (PC) One of my favourite competitive games ever. Really good over the web, excellent at LAN parties, and just a downright blast. CTF-FacingWorlds ftw! #6 - Defcon (PC) A really simple, beautiful, pick up and play game. Has given me endless enjoyment. Everytime I have a half hour to spare I play a quick game. Everybody dies. :-P #5 - Command & Conquer - Tiberian Sun (PC) I remember drooling over the screenshots in PC Gamer months before it came out, unable to control my excitement. It certainly didn't disappoint. The best C&C in my books. #4 - SSX3 (PlayStation2) I'm an avid snowboarder and so this should come as no surprise, but I feel that the third was the best, simply for the whole mountain ride. One single track, from the top of the mountain to the bottom. It takes a whole half an hour to complete! I believe my best time was 23 minutes. #3 - Ridge Racer Type 4 (PSone) I'm not a big fan of realistic racing games, but I love a good race every now and again. Just bombing it around a track, finger on the accelerator all the way round. Has one of my favourite maps ever, Nightime Airport Circuit. #2 - Super Mario Bros (NES) A classic. What more needs to be said. :-D #1 - Shenmue (Dreamcast) And my number one. An epic tale of epic proportions! It really sucked you into the game and made you feel a part of the game world. From waking up every morning and receiving your 200 yen from the housekeeper, to getting a job as a forklift truck driver down at the harbour. Simply amazing. Play it, if you haven't already (But you'll need a Dreamcast. ;-))

Not to mention that only allowing a guest to post for one day is technically impossible. The only two ways of doing it - through cookies and/or ip address - are easilly bypassed.

I vote Bionicle. Worst theme ever. Isn't even worthy of the LEGO name. Can't even be counted as LEGO! As for the Ferrari sets, I like them, but I agree, it would have been better if LEGO had made an Official F1 theme with licenses from more than one car manufacturer. As for buying all the sets, the only set/sets I would buy is the truck and/or the fuel stop. -
Personally I think the 9V would be better than the 12V mainly due to the slightly more realistic track. Also, it wouldn't have been difficult to implement switch motors, signals, etc...I don't know why they didn't. Anyway, I opened up my regulator and had another look and I don't think it would be too hard to put in a variable resister. I'm gonna shop around and see if I can find one that would be suitable. Maplin here I come. :-) TheBrickster: Yes, I'm a purist too I don't like modified LEGO bricks, but you could hardly call it a brick. Any modifications wouldn't affect the outside, just the inside, so you wouldn't notice the difference. This is one modification I really do want to do, I don't like juddery start-stop trains. :-P

Ruling out the ice caps melting, meteors becoming crashed into earth, the o-zone layer leaving, the sun exploding, and us blowing ourselves up, the most pressing matter in your life is how you pronounce Mr. Phes' name. Oh dear oh dear. PS: I've always pronounced it Phes, emphasis on the s (ie the "fess" in "confess", instead of Phez with a z sound. PPS: I'll give you a chocolate chip cookie if you get the quote. :-P

Haha, that missile launch (failure) had my rolling on the floor. Also I've seen the Harrier one before but it's still funny. I can imagine the "greeting" he would had got from his CO once he got back to base...

Do you have dreams about Lego when you're asleep?
Mr Hobbles replied to popkids's topic in Community
Funny, I had my first LEGO dream last night. I dreamt we were visiting LEGOLAND Windsor, but for some reason we were staying at a nearby Army barracks. When we were going around, I got kind of hungry so asked the chef to rustle us up some food. But then the SSM found out and made us run around Miniland 10 times, shouting "I will not ask the chef to make me food!". Not strictly a Lego dream, but I thought it was weird and fitted this thread. -
My 4512 Cargo Train which I ordered off BrickLink arrived this morning. :-D Also there was another package arrived for me which I missed, but the slip says international packet. So I think it's my 7904 City Advent Calendar.

Bada boom! Here's your coat, there's the door, I called for a taxi already. :-D ;-)

10181 Eiffel Tower this August confirmed by reseller !
Mr Hobbles replied to agrotic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ok, for this price it had better be darned good if I'm going to buy it. As others have said, I don't want a bunch of Technic parts either. And it had better be of a height that looks good with minifigs walking under it. -
Cafe Corner. :-) Do I get a cookie? :-D PS: Oh, and very nice houses, but I already thought that the Creator houses WERE minifig scale?

I'd rather pay less for bricks with seperate stickers. It gives you the choice; either complete the model and keep it assembled with stickers, or build it without the stickers then disassemble it and use the pieces. Printed pieces mean that you have no choice but to use that piece in the setting it was intended; ie. if you have a 1x2 smooth plate with a keyboard print on it, it would be silly to use it in a situation other than as a keyboard for a computer. It would look just silly on the side of a building. However stickers mean that if you ever need to use the piece, then you can just take off the sticker and wash away any residue (Although I've taken stickers off 10 year old pieces and never had any residue). Oh, and there's the upside that it's also cheaper. :)

There's a new harbour set coming out which has pretty much the same in it; a cargo ship, container crane, dock and building, along with a truck. It's 7994 Cargo Sea Port and comes out in June: http://brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=7994-1

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Brilliant movie. Saw it tonight for like the millionth time. I love it.

It's nice, but the Berlin diorama only takes up one side of a room? The rest is all stuff like Adventurers, animals, BIG people, and cinemas? Seems like a wasted opportunity to make an inner city LEGOLAND.

Oops, only just noticed I posted in the wrong thread. I meant to post in the Discovery Center one. Really sorry. :-$

I foresee all LEGO being sold online. You can't buy LEGO sets in the shops anymore, instead you buy a "LEGO printer". You then go on the website, buy the design for a brick, then print it off yourself. I also see LEGO charging for the amount of printouts you need. ie. The brick plan costs

Yesterday I bought the new LEGO CITY Passenger Plane (7893), Airport Fire Truck (7891), and Rescue Helicopter (7903), all from Toys R Us at 20% off. Today I had some spare coinage in my pocket so I bought Mini Digger (7246). :-D Also I was browsing eBay and came across an auction for the 1994 set River Runners (6665). I had this set when I was a kid and looking at it brought back so many memories. I think it's an awesome set! I won the auction, 100% complete with instructions but no box, for
