    2016 Lego trains

Amazon. The blue cargo trains were really inexpensive ($120) for a week, now they are in the 'overpriced' section ($190). i looked at the Lego store 3 weeks ago and didn't see the blue train there (sold out). I didn't realize they had come back. Amazon has been my guide to the goings on of Lego for a while. They come in normal price, then various sales, then they get really cheap, then they are really expensive and are no longer available from normal re-sellers. Its possible i'm wrong, but this would be the first time that the pattern didn't hold, since all the way back to the red passenger train.

It looks like the blue cargo train, and the white passenger train are out of stock... hopefully this means Lego is near release of the next cargo train and passenger train (city set). Both sets are at the end of their lives (about 2 years, right?) based on the past, and so long as they have been selling well enough, we should see new city trains soon.

I've noticed that both the regular cargo train and the high speed train are both heavily discounted at Amazon ($120 for the cargo!, $79 for the High speed (prices vary daily, just keep checking back))... are these sets nearing retirement? I have bought a second cargo train, which i will use to build Marsk copy (the instructions are provided on another topic here somewhere).
  4. Frisco 2-6-4 Firefly this is a local streamliner that ran from OKC to KC. I've been trying to work out how to make that front end in Lego for 6 months now. https://upload.wikim...The_Firefly.JPG
  5. I recently bought the heavy haul train. apparently i'm addicted to Lego trains.... anyway I hate two of the cars that come with the train, the helicopter hauler and the backhoe hauler, so i was looking around for other cars to build with the parts... I was looking through the Lego section in the toy store, and i noticed the 60083 snowplow truck. the bed of that truck got me thinking about a car I could build from the parts. NOTE: this requires purchasing 2 sets at $20 each, but you get a second (less interesting to me) car as part of the bargain. you will, as always, have to provide the train parts yourself. These were built using mostly the parts available in the 60083 bags. this is the one i like best. i have two versions, with a few different details.I'm not entirely happy with the smooth pieces on top of the car, I wish they were grey. They add a little bulk, but are a little fragile. The bracing inside the car that needs a little more work to look right, but overall really nice, and it works out to $20 per car plus a what the train bogies cost.. this is the other style of car, sort of a tanker car. this one is a complicated build, and is pretty fragile. but you have the parts This one still needs a little more work but the car looks pretty nice I think. Anyway, I enjoyed the experience of building these, and I thought I'd share my ideas.

    Conrail GP40 building instructions

I love this train, thanks so much for pulling this together. One question: is there a list of additional bricks i need to complete this assuming i have the base train? i know i can compare the parts list from the original and your parts list, i'm just wondering if that has already been done. i will have to order the parts, as my collection of Lego is really small apart from completed kits. Again, i absolutely love this, and i really appreciate your putting in the time to publish the instructions. I'm an AFOL, but not much of a customizer (yet).
