x105Black replied to Ryuuroden's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Wow! This is a stupendous build! Congratulations on getting it all done, and looking so brilliant! Every detail is crafted with such meticulous care. Fantastic, simply fantastic. -
What could be in a Mythology series of CMFs?
x105Black replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I agree. I've heard there are Neopagan practitioners of the Norse religion surrounding Odin and friends in areas of Scandinavia, as well as practitioners of Germanic Heathenry. And while all religions are mythology to me, I still respect their traditions and would love to collect versions of their gods and other characters as minifigures. I'm not familiar with this issue. Please enlighten me. I can't see any religious objection to the fictional Jabba's Palace, unless there are real B'omarr Monks out there... -
I've been wondering this as well, and thought I might have heard some sort of speculation by now (considering the movie will be released next year). I'd love to see this theme, as I'm very interested in LEGO beasts (like wargs, rancors, dewbacks, etc.). I hope that whatever beasts this brings, if any, are done in a similar fashion and not brick-built, although I fear it will be the latter. If this does happen, my girlfriend will be elated! This is especially true if they take the opportunity to bring back the Harry Potter theme, as LEGO has expanded the techniques used in printing minifigures since the original was available.

I would love to see the Geonosis Arena, however I'd like the creatures to be done like the rancor, dewback, and tauntaun rather than brick-built. That said, the set by LegoAcklay looks great!

REVIEW: 5002948 C-3PO Exclusive Polybag 2015
x105Black replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is a fantastic minifigure! Unfortunately, it's not in chrome gold, but it's the most detailed C-3PO yet! I will definitely be looking out for this promotion. Great review! The pictures are very nice. -
Lego themes that we would like to happen
x105Black replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed. They got a good start on this with the Exo-Suit. Unfortunately, I don't think it sold very well, so the possibilities of a solid Neo-Classic Space theme may not be too good.- 451 replies

Minifig parts and accessories you don't like
x105Black replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think this is the best one as well. Interestingly, it's the first one I got and I was surprised later at how difficult the others are. -
Lego themes that we would like to happen
x105Black replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would love a Mad Max theme. Plenty of cool locations and vehicles to build, and some great minifigures. Sadly, I don't think they would ever touch the license.- 451 replies

Minifig parts and accessories you don't like
x105Black replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'll add to the disdain for those skirts, beards, and scimitars. Skirts are ill-fitting, those beards look terrible, and scimitars are large and cartoonish. These are probably the top 3 offenders. -
As of right now, I'm going to say the Elf. I'm also a huge fan of the new Gargoyle.

This is a very cool build! It looks quite accurate to the photos, and would fit in nicely with the Creator Expert Modular Buildings. I've thought of doing something very similar to this with my parents' house, and seeing this is very encouraging that it can be done well.
-
It's a great model! Nice work! Even though I wouldn't use boats in this fashion (because the interior wouldn't make sense), I find the use here to be very inventive.

It would be a shame not to get any more information this month, there are still 3 weeks left in the month! I hope someone is willing and able to share.

I found this: But seriously, we need some pictures so we can stop debating the historical / futuristic, castle / not castle argument.

My idea of the Robo Horse is very close to yours, it will be a brick-built vehicle that somewhat resembles a horse. I doubt we will have normal horses with this theme.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I haven't had any issues with the quality of the CMFs overall, and this series is no different. As for finding the minifigures, I'd say the earlier post by 8BrickMario is a useful guide. A few extra tips: The Zombie Pirate's captain hat is pretty easy to feel. The Wacky Witch's hat has the curved bit on top, which can help to identify. Occasionally the Gargoyle's horns and the Zombie Cheerleader's hair can be difficult to distinguish, but the hair hangs lower in the back, and feeling for a couple of pom-poms versus the wings is an easy help. The same goes for the Banshee and Spectre, but the headpieces are easy enough to tell apart with a bit of an extra feel. The Fly Monster's wings are easy to distinguish from the Gargoyle's wings in that the Gargoyle's are curved with raised lines, whereas the Fly Monster's are flatter with a slight bump where they overlay. The Wolf Guy's head can feel like the Squarefoot's head, but Squarefoot's has the same overhang on front and back and the Wolf Guy's has the ears and muzzle. As for feeling weird, I went with a friend who felt a bit weird but I just kept on feeling the packs. I don't really care, I'm not stealing anything, I'm just feeling for the ones I want. I explained that to a couple of employees at different stores, and they were understanding. Happy hunting! -
Lego Zissou Life Aquatic Rejected by Lego Ideas
x105Black replied to T-Brick27's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I agree on both counts. -
I voted Outstanding. I built this yesterday and love it. It was a fun, quick build. The minifigures are awesome. I didn't apply the stickers (I never do), but I think it looks great without them. The value is a bit much, as with all of the sets in this wave, but it's fairly reasonable for the piece count. Unfortunately, the piece count is eaten up a bit by the projectiles. Still, the value here is among the best for the wave. I'd say use a coupon (which I did) or buy during a sale if possible. Nice review!

Yes, that would be FO for First Order.

Which set is the one you enjoyed building the most?
x105Black replied to BlackVagrant's topic in Community
My current favorite build would have to be the Death Star Final Duel (75093). It was a really fun build, and the largest for me since returning to LEGO. I agree with someone above who said that the bigger sets are more fun to build. -
So the dejarik table in the Millennium Falcon is a shield? That's interesting!

Lego Zissou Life Aquatic Rejected by Lego Ideas
x105Black replied to T-Brick27's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is a nice set. It's too bad LEGO rejected it. I think they should relax on their 'values' a bit. -
That's kind of how I feel. I have a strong expectation that this will not appeal to me, but I've got to wait for pictures. I'm expecting a Castle-like Sci-Fi Action Adventure Theme. I hope I'm wrong, and that the pictures will show something I fall in love with. I suspect that there will be at least 1 set in the wave that appeals to me in one way or another, regardless of the overall appeal of the theme.
-
Yes! I would love to get this as a promotional polybag. I'd spend whatever they wanted in order to get it, and I'd be first in line.
-
Good point. I hadn't considered that.
